Can you help me resolve my difficulties with Marian doctrines?

Full Question

I am having serious issues with Marian doctrines. I feel the titles the Church gives to her, such as co-redemptrix, mediatrix, and dispenser of all graces, really limit the power of Christ. I fear I am committing idolatry. Am I required to believe Mary is co-redeemer with Christ? Or can I simply not believe that doctrine at all because it isn’t dogma? I fear this issue will force me away from the Church for good.

Answer

It will help if you understand what the Church means by such doctrines and what it does not mean. First, the Church recognizes that Jesus in the ultimate sense is our only redeemer—plain and simple. Only God could make up for an offense against his divinity. When Jesus, the second Person of the Blessed Trinity, became man, he used the services of several human beings. he used prophets, the last of whom was his cousin, John the Baptist. He used St. Joseph as his foster father to protect him and to be a father to him in his formative years. Most of all, he used Mary as his mother who gave birth to him, nursed him, and nurtured him as a child. All of these people cooperated with him and his mission of salvation. He alone was the redeemer in the ultimate sense, but they cooperated with him in his work of redemption. In varying degrees they all could be called co-redeemers because of such cooperation. But because of her unique role and the degree of her cooperation, Mary is singled out. In all of humanity, God singled her out for a truly sublime role. Nursing Almighty God at her breast is beyond our ability to fully appreciate. Yet thousands of Christians since the Protestant reformation have completely ignored such sublimity.

What is said of co-redemptrix is also true of mediatrix. Because these terms can be highly misleading, the Church has not infallibly proclaimed them. (See article:www.ewtn.com/library/MARY/ORMARIA2.HTM) Nevertheless, God is the one who singled Mary out for the unique role in salvation that she has. She did not seek out such distinction. It is important to remember the high praise Jesus lavished on St. John the Baptist. Yet his mission was not nearly as exalted as Mary’s. Jesus worked his first miracle at her request. All she needed to say was: “They have no wine.” He understood exactly what she wanted. He could have taken care of the matter on his own. But he chose to have his mother’s intercession be a part of the mix. The miracle wasn’t any less significant because of her part in it. On the contrary, she shows us how accessible he is to our needs. To truly appreciate Mary is to appreciate her Son all the more.

Holy Mary’s genealogy is truly impressive. The fact that She was not only conceived without sin but remained sinless is not less impressive: and never mind collaborating with God in making Him into a man that He could live amongst us and be one of us: for all intents and purposes She was his MOTHER. Now: show me a mother that can endure what She went through for Her Son… Can she do anything without God? No, I do not think so; what for?! She has got Him SO CLOSE TO HER from the very beginning, that all She has got to do is ask Him -and by this I mean a mere ‘thought’, or ‘look’, or ‘idea’ from Her…and consider it done by God!- And quite rightly so.
“Holy Mary, Mother of God, please pray for us all”

Ask yourself this question, ‘Who is Jesus to me, my Brother?’ If the answer is yes, then accept that Mary is also your Mother and things will soon fall into place,

First of all Mary was and is a blessed person and I am sure that she has her reward in heaven. But I think that the Catholic Church has stretched her position to almost displace the rightful place of our lord. In 1998 I was in Rome, and I was listening to a talk back show on “RADIO MARIA” one listener asked the bishop “if Mary was more powerful than Jesus?” the bishop replied “no, they are equal” I was stanned to hear a bishop of the Catholic Church to be so ignorant of the Sovereignty of our Lord. Our God is no respecter of men or women; Mary had the privilege to be used by God, that is all. Jesus said in Matthew 11:11, “Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” The question must be asked; where did Jesus say, that His earthly mother was great? furthermore, we read in ACTS 4:12, where Peter said “There is salvation in no one else; for there is NO OTHER NAME under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.” Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by dying sinless has created a Holy Human Character; and this is what happened to His human Soul, for we read in ACTS 2:33 “Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and HAVING RECEIVED from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth, this which you both see and hear.” We should seek to receive the Holy Spirit of Christ, He has first place in everything, Mary, the saint and what have you are a distraction.
However, we can believe what we like: stories, fairy tales or myths. but we must remember that salvation is only obtained from the Lord our Saviour. Everything else is a waste of time, If we insist of glorify Mary we even run the risk of offending God, for He is a jealous God.

    1. John Ron Reply

That Bishop erred because it is not part of any Catholic belief system to equate Mary to Jesus or anyone else for that matter. However, I think it is very important to bring up a point that a lot of people pass over. Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the Old Testament, He said so Himself. He followed the Law to the letter because only God could do that, no creature was able to. Therefore, looking it in that sense, What is the Fourth Commandment (in the Catholic numbering system; 5th in the Protestant)? Honor thy father and thy mother. Protestant never question Christ’s honoring of His Father yet have constantly questioned the honoring of His mother. In the Magnificat, it says all generations to come shall call me blessed. Christ chose to honor His mother Mary in many ways, ways that are still unfathomable to all, hence why they are called mysteries. You cannot offend God by glorifying what He Himself has glorified. Peter himself was scorned for doing so in his dream, “who are you to call unclean what I have cleansed.” You cannot pick and choose which verses to honor and which to ignore. I am often asked by my Protestant friends if I have read the Bible and they are surprised when I say yes. I am invited to their services and I attend but they refuse to reciprocate. There are still many things I don’t know about my faith but I pick up a book and read and research. I would recommend you read Hail, Holy Queen by Scott Hahn an ex Protestant convert to the Catholic faith… he struggled with Marian doctrine before entering the Church and his book is very informative and easy to understand. One thing needs to be said, every Catholic knows or should know that Mary is nothing without Christ/God, it is only through Him that Mary is who she is, Our Mother (when Christ was crucified he looked upon John and told him here is your mother, not here is your sister… God chooses His words carefully and everything He says has meaning and import)

      1. Mario Simonelli Reply

John Ron, I am glad you are a researcher; Please correct me if the following article in my book “The way God Told It” is wrong.
This will confirm that the celibacy of the Catholic priests is from God.

Throughout the ages many pagan religions adopted various forms of sacrifice to appease God. Some even went to the extreme repugnance of offering human sacrifice, like virgins or infants whose bodies were unblemished.
The Jews however offered animal sacrifices, not to appease God as it were, but to make atonement for their sins; in other words, by their faith in a promise given to them by God, they covered their sins for a time with a substitute life “blood" of an unblemished animal, until those who believed in the promise of the coming Messiah would be redeemed by the unblemished sacrifice of the Christ.
Christianity therefore was born through the sacrifice of the unblemished life of the Messiah, His unblemished life and eventual sinless death were necessary, for in so doing He fulfilled the law of God, hence enabling Him to do three wonderful things for the world which are: First, reverse what Adam did and give justification of life to all of humanity; second, forgive the sins of past, present and future faithful generations, and third, give the gift of His Grace to those who would believe and receive the Holy Spirit.
Some of those who receive the gift of His Grace have been invited to grow and mature in that gift, for we read in Luke 9:23: “And He was saying to them all, ‘if anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.’" Somehow that invitation to deny oneself is tested by the strength of his or her personal faith, for we must keep present in mind that it is not compulsory to literally follow in His footsteps, for it is written: “If anyone wishes to come after Me" That statement is just because we are all individuals whose personalities and strength differ in many ways. It is compulsory though to “love your neighbour like yourself," which is the basic requirement if we truly aspire to be Christians and then if anyone wishes there is the devotional sacrifice to go after him.
        This devotional sacrifice of worship to God is an exceptional way of self-denial with which we get closer to our Lord, for we read in 1Corinthians 7:32-38: “But I want you to be free from concern. One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord;
33 but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and his interests are divided.
34 And the woman who is unmarried, and the virgin, is concerned about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
35 And this I say for your own benefit; not to put a restraint upon you, but to promote what is seemly, and to secure SOME BELIEVER FOR AN undivided devotion to the Lord.
36 But if any man thinks that he is acting unbecomingly towards his CELIBACY, if he should be of full age, and if it must be so, let him do what he wishes, he does not sin; let HIM marry.
37 But he who stands firm in his heart, being under no constraint, but has authority over his own BODY, and has decided this in his own heart, to keep his own BODY CHASTE, he will do well.
38 So then both he who gives his own BODY in marriage does well, BUT he who does not give HIMSELF in marriage will do better."

As you can see, the last four verses 35-38, with the inserted WORDS IN BLOCK LETTERS are the obvious restorations needed, which enable us to understand the connection and the true intended meaning of the previous verses of 32-34. Thus if any person, male or female, is willingly prepared and able to freely undertake the sacrifice of celibacy as their sacrifice of worship, that sacrifice is acceptable to God, this is confirmed in Matthew 19:10-12: “The disciples said to Him, ‘If the relation-ship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry.’ But He said to them, ‘Not all men can accept this statement, but only those to whom it has been given. For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to accept this let him accept it.’"
Romans 12:1 also urges us to keep our body holy by saying: “I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship."

Mario Simonelli, you sound like a Protestant. In my experience they know very little about the Virgin Mary. Upon assumption, God crowned her as the Queen of Heaven. Yes, they are equal, as is the Blessed Holy Spirit. I often pray for healing for family & friends. One of my friends that I was praying for was a protestant & was very much against Mary. No matter how much I prayed, she was not healed, so I asked Jesus why not?
He simply said, ‘She does not honour my mother’. Her power & worth are quite obvious, don’t you think?

  7. Mario Simonelli Reply

Vicki Sawarin, it is known that sick people are even healed by taking a placebo. You are making Mary equal to Jesus and the Holy Spirit, you do not realise what you are saving, for that is the very place that the devil wants to be, for we read in Isaiah 14:14, “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” It shouldn’t surprise you for even Adam wanted the knowledge equal to God. Romans 1:21-23, partly reads, “For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of CORRUPTIBLE MAN.”
I am a protestant as Jesus was, they did not like Him, who was one of their own, because He spoke the truth.

  8. John Ron Reply

Mario Simonelli, yes that has always been the understanding of those verses. As for Vicki, you err in equating Mary to Christ and the Holy Spirit. Her coronation does not do what you have postulated, she is crowned Queen of Heaven yes, however she is only Queen above Creation. All you have to look at is the Jewish Kingdom under David’s line, the Queen had a role as Mediatrix and held a special role and honor in the kingdom however it did not make her equal to the King, the King is above all and has final say in all matters. I love Mother Mary above all things, things being the key word (I am Mexican after all and so Our Lady of Guadalupe is extremely important in my upbringing as a Catholic) But no where in Catholic teaching is Mother Mary equal to Christ, the Holy Spirit, or the Father and to say so is blasphemy. As for anyone doing any research it is always good to read what the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches. It almost always helps to clarify any doubt about dogma, doctrine or actual teaching. We are human and make mistakes so always balance your comments, doubts and research with reputable sources (i.e. official church documents with the Imprimatur). We are always learning and we should always strive to learn more about our faith so as to be able to refute attacks on it, but we must always remember to do it with love and never get to the point where we become offensive. Remember you are to defend the Faith not attack others.

    1. Vicki Sawarin Reply

Jon Ron, I commend you for being a strong believer in God & your love & respect for our Blessed Mother. I do not do all the research that you do, but I get my answers from God. When you say that I err in equating Mary to Christ, I do not, and the bishop is right. Mary was crowned Queen of Heaven after she died and was not involved with the Jewish Kingdom. I do not blaspheme. My knowledge & information comes from The Father.
When I hear or read something that I am not sure is right, I ask God about it & get the correct answers. You err in saying that Mary is nothing without Christ. Without her saying ‘yes’ to God, Jesus would not have been born. I have knowledge that you will not read in the bible, scriptures or anywhere else. Do you know who the Holy Spirit is? Of course not. It is not written anywhere. Even Jesus did not know him before He was crucified. The Holy Spirit was created before the beginning of the Old Testament. He came to earth as Matthias, the Apostle to replace Judas. Jesus did not know who he really was. Matthias revealed Himself as the Holy Spirit at the first Pentecost.
I did not always have this ability. I acquired it after my husband died and he is my connection to God & all spirits. Do not bother to warn me about Satan. I have many close encounters with him, as he has been trying to destroy me, my whole life.

      1. Mario Simonelli Reply

Vicki, It is not normal for a Christian to have many close encounters with the devil; obviously what you believe has brought you closer to him; you should know that the devil flees from true Christians.
Vicki, you are in mortal danger, please protect yourself with the name and blood of Jesus our only saviour. May the Lord Jesus Christ shield you from the schemes of the devil; Amen.

        1. V Reply

Mario, I am not a normal Christian. I am Roman Catholic & was born for specific reasons. One of the reasons is to enlighten people about the one True Church that Jesus Christ established. God is always with me. I have no fear of the devil. However, you should know that the devil does not flee from the Christians or anyone else. There are multitudes of them, quietly hanging around, trying to influence each & every person to do evil & to believe what they want you to believe. Ie. It makes them very happy when someone does not believe in the Church that Christ established, but in something that man has started. All these other religions were started by men who changed teachings & picked only what suited them, instead of all the teachings of God. There have been 7 books removed from each of the testaments of the original Bible. The Catholic church is the only one which has retained all since it was established. Whatever country you go to, the Mass is the same. It is the only Church that has the true Holy Eucharist.. Only Catholic priests have the power to change bread & wine into the Body & Blood of Jesus Christ.

      2. Eric H Reply

Vicki what you are stating is contrary to catholic teaching. Mary is blessed and held in great esteem, but Jesus is her savior as well, she said so herself. Do not elevated her to the level of God. If you are hearing voices telling you otherwise, you should consider seeing an exorcist. The devil will distort the truth however he can. Whatever it takes to turn hearts from Jesus.

      3. Jojo Reply

Vicki Sawarin, the Roman Catholic Church has no doctrine about Mary being equal to our Lord Jesus Christ, even to the Father and the Holy Spirit. There is no part of the Catholic teaching that says we glorify Mary equal to the Blessed Trinity. If you are really a Catholic, then you should follow and believe with faith what is already taught by the Church for all what she teaches us are directly from the Almighty God, through Jesus our Lord. Our doctrine is inspired, so therefore must not be changed. Remember, the body (Catholic Church) is infallible for its head is our Savior Jesus Christ. Try to deepen your faith through studying the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

  9. Mario Simonelli Reply

Vicky, what you say is not scriptural because we read in James 4:7-8, “Submit therefore to God. resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you, Cleanse your hands, you sinner; and purify your hearts, you double minded.”

II) There are no multitudes of devils hanging around Christians for James 1:13 in part reads “Each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust."

III) We do not have to believe in a church, the scriptures says that we must believe in Jesus Christ in order to be saved.

IV) Man has no power to do anything unless he has received that power from God.

    V) You say that “you are not a normal Christian:” I am afraid for you Vicky, for every Christian should be like Christ, if you are not like Him, you are not Christian at all.

You should focus on “the gospel of Jesus Christ” or “the life of Jesus Christ” which is the same thing and you will be protected by Him who is able to save you from all the devil’s schemes.

    1. Vicki Sawarin Reply

Mario, you pay little attention to anything other then the few scriptures that you pick out, as the leaders of all the protestant religions have.. Marcus Grodi from EWTN was a pastor of several churches & says they believe in sola scriptura. Nothing but scripture & Only the ones they want to believe in. Marcus found the truth in the Catholic Church & helps others to find the truth. You should watch his show ‘The Journey Home’

How about what Jesus said–Unless you eat my body & drink my blood, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven. Only Catholic priests have the power transubstantiation — to change bread & wine into the Body & Blood of Jesus Christ. If you actually want to learn the truth so that your soul can enter heaven, read the Catholic Catechism; check out EWTN.com or the Fathers of the Church.

What I have told you is the truth. I have a closer association with God then most people do. Do you know about Saints? The Virgin Mary was the very first Saint. She is the Mother of God! I have nothing to fear as God the Father, Jesus Christ & The Blessed Holy Spirit are always with me. I am also in close communication with the Blessed Virgin Mary. If you are afraid for anyone, fear for yourself, as it appears that you have really bought into whatever protestant church you belong to. Do yourself a favor & search for the truth.

  10. Mario Simonelli Reply

Vicky, what you have told me is not the truth, it is what you believe to be the truth. Because “Truth" in God’s eyes is not only that which is contrary to falsehood, but it is also a state of existence, the day will come when only “Truth" will exist in eternity. Then we can confidently say that “Truth" is a state of unchanging holiness, the essence of God to which we, by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ have become partakers.
In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I Am the ‘Way’, the ‘Truth’, and the ‘Life’; no one comes to the Father, but through Me". Yes!
He is the “Way" because we must follow the footsteps of His earthly life = Repentance
He is the “Truth" because He is the embodiment of unchanging holiness = God
He is also the “Life" because He is the eternal Word = Eternal life
I am fully convinced that if one doesn’t know anything about anything, but practises the beliefs that are in Jesus and/or lives his life by the principles of the gospel of holiness, he is acceptable to God.
You are a religion devotee, and your beliefs are outside what the holy scriptures teaches, you do not know, but your kind were the ones that killed Christ and persecuted the early church. In Proverbs 9:10 it is written “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the HOLY ONE is understanding.” You have no understanding of His Scriptures, therefore you have no knowledge of Christ our only Lord and Saviour.

    1. Vicki Sawarin Reply

Have it your way, Mario. Just remember what I told you when you try to enter heaven. There is more to truth than scriptures. There is life that is lived with the Blessed Trinity AND the Blessed Virgin Mary.

just wondering Mario, how does Matthew 23, apply to your life?

I am especially wondering who your current “chair of Moses sitter(s) are is”…those to whom followers of Christ are to HEAR and OBEY. Since the Bible itself doesn’t give a “table of contents” or a criteria to use in the selection of inspired of God writings…Just wondering WHO determined this for you? and when?

I am told, Orthodox Jews today, still have a lineage of chair sitters, back to Moses (some years are scanty, (because of the numerous times Jews have been in exile, especially after the fall of the Temple in 70AD)

IS Scripture your only final and sole source of Truth?

Is everything you currently believe and practice, as a Christian, explicitly written IN the Sacred Writings?

Are believers in Christ, given the privilege (authority) to pick and choose what HAS to be written in the Scriptures, and what doesn’t have to be written in Scripture? (which to say is each and every Christian required to be their own authority (chair of Moses sitter) in knowing what is Truth and error?

@ Becky Jo, Matthew 23 is referring to religious leaders, who writes church doctrines and do not do what they write. Hypocrisy is their lot.
I do not write doctrines, but I do like to share what I have been given to understand from the scriptures; as it has happened to me as has happened in Luke 24:45 “Then He opened their minds to understand the scriptures.

Mario what translation of the Bible do you read and study?

I read and study from various Bibles (including but not limited to the Rev Standard, KingJames and Catholic editions). None of the New Testament Scriptures I study, state or even mention Jesus commanding or even suggesting His followers to write anything.

I do agree that hypocrisy was an important issue of this passage from Matthew 23, which is why I didn’t include the chp and verses I was responding to.

What Matthew tells me in various places of chp 23, is that there are Moses chair sitters in His day, that have the authority from God TO teach correctly Gods Word Spoken Or Written.

Moses chair sitters that Jesus refers to, is in fact part of the Oral Tradition passed down, but never written in the inspired of God Writings we now refer to as the OT.

The crowd Jesus was speaking to in chp 23, however knew and understood what He meant, was True.

He reminded His listeners to HEAR and OBEY what these Moses chair sitters teach for they have authority FROM God to do and do so correctly.

So yes the chair of Moses sitters (I think referred to in His day) as Scribes and Pharisee, did have the authority from God to teach His Truth.

So again I ask you Mario, WHO you currently hear and obey, with the power and authority FROM God, to teach correctly?

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me……a sinner

Mario, have you found IN the sacred Writings Jesus ever commanding / instructing His followers to WRITE anything?

How about the chp and verses that directly state which and how many inspired of God writings which are now collectively referred to as the Bible.

St John tells us, that all that was seen and heard, was NOT written, no book could contain all that Jesus taught!

since the printing press was not invented, until late 14 or 15th century (I can’t remember for sure) did all believers and followers of Christ have their own personal Bible to read and pray and study and discern for themselves between Truth and error. Literacy as well, was problematic…meaning even IF the Bible was available to be read by all…could ALL read?

Mario, We share in common, the trust we have in the Divine workings of the Holy Spirit, in leading meHis people to the fullness Of His truth…the whole Truth and nothing but His Truth!

I know the Sacred and inspired Written Words of God, now referred to as thew Bible, didn’t just drop down from heaven, all neatly packaged and set to go.

As I mentioned and ask before, WHEN and WHO decided which writings, how many writings, were to be placed under one cover?

As I also mentioned previously, Christ in the New Testament, never tells His followers to READ (only) scriptures, to know the fullness of His Truth.

I have been a part of MANY Christian fellowship communities, who preach and teach from the “Scriptures alone”, also relying on the Holy Spirit to lead and guide them, to the fullness of His Truth. Yet ALL Christians do not believe or practice, with or without a fellowship community, the same!

For instance, what Christian TRUTHS Christians believe or practice, has to be IN Scripture specifically stated, and what Truths don’t have to be IN Scripture at all, yet are held as Truth, revealed by the Holy Spirit working in and thru followers of Christ? Especially when there are conflicts differences (interpretations/selection of BVC) pertaining to Truths of revealed by the SAME Holy Spirit, to His people, Christians rely on.

ie like the Biblical table of contents?

WHO WHAT (criteria) and WHEN do you believe were “officially” led by the Holy Spirit”, to determine for the followers of Christ, the “Biblical” table of contents, you pray, read and study from?

The information (inspired of God Biblical table of contents, OR the criteria ti be used) is plain and simply NOT found in the NT writings!

Jesus also NEVER instructed His followers to WRITE anything…with the working of the Holy Spirit Christ sent His Apostles out to”preach AND teach”, the Good News He had taught them?

Through historical documents even as a Protestant, we were taught, the table of contents of the NT Scripture was determined in the late 3rd and 4th century. The Protestant communities I was part of (also Holy Spirit led), determined that the OT table of contents, the Jewish Chair of Moses sitters had determined late in the 1st and second (based on these Chair of Moses sitters own criteria)!

Becky Jo. if you want to know the truth, you will not get it from Mario as he does not seem to know what the truth is.. However, Visuca, Hernan, Maria & Maryann are right. John …not so much. Eric -??? I don’t know what a chair of Moses sitter is. Jesus never was a protestant. He established the Catholic Church with Saint Peter as the first Pope, with successors to the present time. Some Protestants say that Catholics are not Christians, but we were the original Christians & also Catholics. I have close encounters with Satan, since he has been trying to destroy me my whole life, because of who I am. I have the power to banish him for periods of time. I also have the ability to communicate with spirits & have helped many ghosts. People who die a traumatic death, sometimes are left wandering the world as ghosts, even for thousands of years. Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) &/ or their website are good places to go to learn about God, the Church & all religions. They have The Journey Home, where converts relay their journey. Many, many are previous pastors of all kinds of churches, before finally realizing that the Catholic Church is the ONE TRUE Church.

Mary was conceived without original sin. Time is but a creation of God and cannot constrain God! The redemption obtained by Jesus was applied to Mary’s soul before her conception! Thus Mary holds the title of The Immaculate Conception! She may be God’s most perfect creation, but she is still but a creature of God. Jesus was meek and humble of heart ,and, though He is God, He did not seek equality with God! Mary exemplifies the perfect disciple of Christ, and is with God in Heaven, but she is still a creature and not equal to God. I love you all and Mary through Jesus Christ our Lord!

AMEN Vicki! 51 years ago, I was Baptized into the ONE UNITED HOLY Apostolic, Chritian Faith community, founded by Jesus Christ, Himself! THE very best and most important decision I made which shaped and formed every other decision, in my life. God allowed me the opportunity to grow, to know and love the Sacred writings. God also allowed me to have a phenominal love of history!

My parents allowed us kids to research the numerous Bible only (of course) faith communities. Back in the day there was a Bible believing Church on every street, every block. The closest to my home was the Lutheran community, which my parents attended and were a part of had part of, since they moved to where we lived. We worshipped and prayed as a family, etc.

I had a great memory in my younger days, and had won numerous awards and blue ribbons, to prove it. In those days, I could cite verbatim, from both the Old and New Testaments, they had been imprinted on my brain.

During the summer my friends and I thought it was great going door to door, with our ability to evangelize, and help build up Christ’s Body, here on earth. We especially loved going to the homes of Catholics. One couple/family with a ton of kids on our block, truly rocked our boat, by listening to us share, and then asking a few questions of their own and inviting us back, (once we found the Biblical verses) or came up with an answer

and even inviting us to come back, if we wanted to share our faith with them! Holy cow, my friends and I thought we died and went to heaven— us to come back. They told us, they really admired us for going door to door, sharing our Faith and love of Scriptures

One of the first questions, that had me in a quandry went something like this: So everything you believe to be Truth of God is found i n the Sacred Scriptures? dah of course! what other source would be acceptable for God’s????

This question my friends and I thought was a no brainer! We determined that Catholics really know diddly squat about the Bible.

The rest is history, for me….in the literal sense.

To this very day, I hear and read Scripture everyday! I could probably count (on maybe two hands), the times I have missed meeting up with my faith family, to hear the Good News preached and taught, to having my spiritual food for the day’s journey, by receiving Christ’s own Body and Blood, Soul/Divinity, and I still love sharing / witnessing to the Good News of Jesus Christ.

I also never turn away folks who show up at my door, sharing their walk with Jesus.

There are a several verses that are my favorites, that I love sharing and discussing with folks who I meet, (at the store, drs offices, waiting for my car to be fixed….etc.), Matthew 23 being among my favorites. (Who are your current Moses chair sitters). For the most part, they like me, as a Protestant Christian, never heard of Moses chair sitters.

How the Bible was “put together” the who, when, what, when, and how—criteria for selection, the picking andf chosing the books now found in the Sacred Writings, etc. is another!

I also enjoy (learn) from those who are willing to share their faith journey with, their favorite readings from Scripture that draws them to a closer deeper relationship with Jesus Christ

When I cloud get around better, I loved going door to door. I always carry with me, pamplets I like which are short and sweet, just as my childhood friends would do in the summer months, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Since I no longer have the memory or ability to cite Scripture I once had, but I apologize and ask permission to get back to them …. and I do!

Thanks Vicki for giving me this opportunity, to share my journey!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me…a sinner

I know the Sacred and inspired Written Words of God, now referred to as thew Bible, didn’t just drop down from […]

Mario responds: Becky jo, you can be a good Christian and jet no nothing of the bible, that is because true Christianity is a way of life. I know the truth because I know Christ; how do I know Christ, and how can I demonstrate to you that I know Christ? In proverbs 9:10 we read “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY ONE IS UNDERSTANDING.”

Becky Jo shares: Mario, I would imagine you do “know, love, and serve” Christ, in the decisions, ways and means you learned on your journey!

I TOO, know love and serve Jesus Christ! perfectly, nahhh I think that will take me a life time. Truthfuly I like you, also profess and testify to knowing Christ, like Thomas, as my Savior, Redeemer, King, Lord, and my God.

Like the Ethiopian Eunuch who was authoritatively instructed and brought to the fullness of God’s Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but His truth, through God the Sons own power and authority, (Phillip as one of key holders, Moses chair sitter, if you will), to correctly Preach AND Teach, the Good News of Jesus Christ UNTIL the end of time.

Why do you suppose Christ empowered Peter first (with the keys of the kingdom of heaven), the other Apostles later, to PREACH and TEACH, His followers, the good News of Jesus Christ…..at least until the end of time when Christ has promised He will return to His flock. In the upper room, we read that the Holy Spirit came FIRST to His hand picked, chosen empowered and appointed ‘chair sitters-key holders” Apostles

Perhaps you believe the Christ has returned, “end of time” has come?

Yessirreeee, the Holy Spirit continues thrive in our hearts, and minds, in the way we love, others…by our word and action, and seek forgiveness when we fall short of the Glory of God.

    Do I hear an AMEN??????

May the kingdom power and glory of God, be yours…now and forever

Peace of Christ be with you Mario, now and forever.

BJ asks / suggest toMario: Did the Sacred writings we now refer to, as the inspired of God Writings we now refer to as the Bible (both Old and New Testaments, just drop from heaven, to God’s people, table of context, all neatly formatted in BCVs?

Mario suggests his belief that the Bible contains both “tares and wheat”, (truth AND error): “Therefore if you really know God and have the mind of Christ, you would also know what He lead the apostles to write, in other words you would be able to recognize the good seed from the tares. Here is a bunch TARES for you. (V) In Matthew 27:52-53 we trustfully read: “And the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many."

I believe that the above two verses report something which never took place and therefore those lies are used to divert our attention from the Lord, because it is impossible for it to have occurred before or after the resurrection of the Lord….”

Becky Jo responds: I think a statement like you made above, increases, someone like me, the need to know, who your “Moses chair sitters”, “key holders” with the authority from God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) are, to discern between correctly, Truth, the WHOLE Truth, and nothing but the TRUTH, from error, UNTIL the end of time, when Christ returns. What “other sources for information” concerning truth and error, do you use?

Are you personally, a Moses chair sitter, a key holder, to determine “correctly” for ALL Christians, based on your selections of bcvs / intepretations of what has been written as inspired of God are Truth OR error. Which is to say, what you believe/teach, supersedes any other Holy Spirit led folks, who have conflicting interpretations, than you?

If you allow yourself to be a Holy Spirit led “key holder / Moses chair sitter” (until the end of time, when Christ returns), it says to me, that ALL Spirit led Christians, have this SAME authority! SAME Holy Spirit, conflicting beliefs / truths of God…..simply doesn’t make sense to me, does it make sense to you, Mario.

Again I ask, are YOU yourself your own chair of Moses sitter, key holder, thems and thoses (plural in Scripture), who rightly (correctly) between God’s Truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the Truth, and error, especially since we both believe and are led by the SAME Holy Spirit, yet have confliciting truths we hold and believe, as the Truth of God?

Do your interpretations, selection of bcvs supersede my Holy Spirit, led bcvs I have presented to you, to pray and discern?

By the way Mario, is Christ’s command / instruction to His Apostles, the authority (key holders, moses chair sitters, thems and thoses) that whosoever sins you forgive will be forgiven, shall be forgiven AND whose sins you shall retain, shall be retained, (I can’t remember the bvc, but will look it up)

      God bless, Mario

Mario implies as truth: “Because “Truth" in God’s eyes is not only that which is contrary to falsehood, but it is also a state of existence, the day will come when only “Truth" will exist in eternity. Then we can confidently say that “Truth" is a state of unchanging holiness, the essence of God to which we, by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ have become partakers.”

BJ: I again, ask for your current source, (the thems/thoses, chair of Moses sitters, key holders of the kingdom of heaven, until the end of time, who have the authority to bind/loose, truth from error, for God’s people up to and until, the end of time, whenst Christ returns)

Why do you suspect, Christ would take the time or energy, to delegate/empower, His Apostles with His own authority, to teach and preach, correctly, His people….UNTIL the end of time?

As far as I know, the end of time has not yet come! Do you believe the Sacred, inspired of God writings just drop from heaven all neatly presented in chp/vs? When, WHO, and How was this process done?
      …….just asking-saying

      God Bless you, Mario

Mario states: God doesn’t need anything to teach you, you have to have in your heart the love of God and the love for your neighbour to allow him to reach you. It is that simple, we are the ones that makes things complicated; True Christianity is not a religion it is a way of life; For the gospel of Jesus Christ is the Life of Jesus Christ.

Bj responds: In my humble opinion Mario, first you postulate, that God doesn’t “need anything to teach me”, then you state having love of God in my heart, the love of neighbor, to allow Him to “reach” (teach me)?

God has chosen to reach/teach me, in numerous ways, throughout my life. Currently I believe He is teaching me, through being “disabled” (not able to walk, talk, and remember, i.e. due to my having another non-cancerous brain tumor, removed. The 101 classroom, I find myself in, allows me the gift of time! I consider myself to be a perpetual classroom, “student”.

imho, trusting God in all ways, always—-to lead me into a closer relationship with my Lord.

I don’t consider myself to be a Lone Ranger, on my eternal journey, to know love and serve, God. My being a Christian identifies me as being part of a community of fellow believers, who are in numerous ways, help me to stay on the road, to heaven’s gates. Throughout Biblical history, both OT and NT, and even in the secular “we live in” being “bonded”, starts as family.

Christian(ity) and even the secular world we live in, speaks to me of numerous ways, common minded folks, are referred to in Scripture AS family, kinsmen, brothers and sisters, belonging to a (family), community. Among the various “families-communities, fellowship groups, governmental, relious, secular world we live in or we to be a part of, teaches “us” something!

My own “blood related” family was my first initiation, into “the school of life, so to say. I was gifted with great parents, who first taught me the meaning of being “family. I will be eternally grateful to God for choosing my first community, training center, school of love and life!”

My parents, were my first and primary teachers of knowing, loving and serving God! As children all seven of us, knew who the authority figures, in our human family, were. We lived ate, prayed-worshipped, played, cried at times, were reprimanded, consoled, cried, grieved, gave or sought forgiveness and healing when we ourselves were hurt or when we ourselves hurt another, intentionally or otherwise. We were instilled with loving ourselves-neighbor(s). We learned a valuable lesson, of giving to God off the top, of any blessings (monetary or otherwise). We learned first and foremost by the example we received, our parents, using our time/talents to serve God and our religious/secular governmental communities we were also a part of.

The value of belonging to family in other words, was part and parcel of my “growing up” process. I have been myself blessed with a great husband (44 years). Neither of us perfect, by any means–knowing but both of us trusting and depending on God, as leaders in our own family. We stood before God, our family, friends vowing, for the rest of our lives, to love honor and obey, until death do us part. Are we perfect leaders in our human family, (9 children, three deceased, and 25 living grandchildren), nope we aren’t! Again always loving one another, asking and/or seeking forgiveness, when we fail? We’ve been blessed by God, to love, honor, and live out our vows, in sickness/health.

I live here in the USA (community) as well. I am required to pay taxes, obey the laws of the land, both city and state, from legitimate authorities, elected and or commissioned to serve the state, city, national A(and international “laws of the land” Do we always like or agree with how the outcome of votes of people, turn out…nope! We as individuals do honor, respect our “right” TO vote, in this country, some ares of this world, are not given such “rights”!

From what you have posted, I gather you personally do not participate in a Christian, Community, Family, Church, etc.of believers, who share your interpretations, insights, beliefs, the Holy Spirit personally “teaches” you as the Truth, the /WHOLE (fullness of) Truth and noting but the Truth etc? You are choosing to be your own Spirit led to bind-loose, reject/accept, pick/choose.

I will pray for you Mario, because without “a spiritual family” (with legitimate chair sitters, binders/loosers, thems/thoses, key holders with authority FROM God to Preach and Teach, correctly, unto the end of time, when Christ returns.

Belonging to a faith community (spiritual family), allows us as God’s kids to grow in, nurtured by, allows one to gain in wisdom,Truth and grace

The workings of the Holy Spirit, places us in need of “Spiritual family ness” otherwise one becomes just another “clanging cymbal”, (in this world), which no one is “obligated” to hear or/ obey.

You indicate you don’t “belong” or “need to be part of a Faith family. The “voice” you hear speaking to you simply put, imho, rejects a whole lot of what Scripture says. (correct me if I’m assuming incorrectly).

Blessings and His peace be on you, Mario!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me….a sinner!

btw, yes, truthfully I am a sinner, and DO fall short of the glory of God
I do ask and pray for His forgiveness for the times, I do, or don’t do, what HE asks of me! As a wife, mother, grandmother, etc I have great tendencies, to being a control freak. These 40 days (Lent) prior to celebrating the Life, death and resurrection of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, (we refer to as Easter (season, since this lasts for 50 days)

This Lenten season (and my recovery process), forces me out of the control chair, and learning how to ask/accept/receive, help. (I refer to this as a sin of pride), since I am accustomed to being a care giver, not a care receiver, kwim (know what I mean)?

Since my husband is an Ordained Deacon (bottom rung of chair sitters etc, who has the spiritual laying on of hands “heritage-lineage”, back to the Apostles in the first century.

Since I am physically unable to pray and worship with my Spiritual family/community daily, my husband not only shares the Readings and Gospel, even more importantly, Christ’s Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, to “come under my roof”, which not only heals my Spirit, but my body as well!

When I entered heaven, after my physical death, I will “take my spiritual bath-shower” to wash away any and all “stains” of sins commited in my life remai nthat throughout my spiritual journey,

Allow me to air my understanding with regard to the question of Mother Mary. The understanding of the scriptures on how God conveyed his word to us the earthly people. Let us look at the Ark of the covenant The contents of the Ark of the old covenant were the ten commandments. Over the same Ark, God was speaking to Moses..Exodus 25: 11.
And in the New Covenant, the word of God (JESUS) came down to his people here on earth via Mother Mary. She is the Ark of the new Covenant.
    Rev 11: 19.
The old covenant has the crown of gold: Exodus 25:11. In the same manner, the ark of the new covenant has the CROWN OF GOLD: Rev 12:1

In the Christian era,God is still speaking to his people via the ark of the new covenant. FATIMA- APPARITION 1917.
Apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe; 1531.
APPARITION Our Lady of Lourdes 1844 (FRANCE).

There are many similarities when comparing the two covenant.
2 Samuel 6: 9-11- David said; How can the ark of the Yahweh come to me?The ark of the covenant spends 3 months in Davids house.
Luke 1:43-57. Elizabeth pronounce, “How can my Lords mother come to me?” Mary stayed with Elizabeth for 3 months.
The ark in the old covenant is also code as ” OVER SHADOW: EXODUS 40: 34-38. and thus the ark of the new covenant is also code as “OVER SHADOW” Luke 1: 35.

In the old testament, the ark of the covenant was made of SHITTIM wood. The word shittim (settim) comes from a a Septuasm version of the Creek bible which means extremely durable or incorruptible. It has a meaning of non-decaying.
Therefore, Mother Mary posses the same description; She does not die, She is preserved from all sin; actual and original sin. She is assumed into heaven.
