Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington, DC, has issued a new statement calling attention to the dangers to religious freedom in the US.

“We really don’t think government should be telling us how we should be practicing our faith,” the cardinal told the Washington Examiner. “Religious freedom shouldn’t be determined for us by somebody else any more than people in the media would want freedom of speech to be determined by somebody else.”

Should the Roman Catholic Church, or we as individual Roman Catholics, tell the USA what the laws of the land should be? Although our Founding Fathers were, by and large, believers in God, times have changed in the USA and there are large groups of atheists who have no religion, and those who don’t care about our style of morality.
