Pope Francis’ response to Indian temple explosion

An explosion was started by firework crackers in a Hindu Temple in Kerala, India. At least 100 people lost their lives and over 200 injured. The major victims of the explosion were worshipers who visited the Puttingal temple in the coastal town of Paravur on Saturday to celebrate a new year festival. A building at the temple also collapsed.

The Holy Father, Pope Francis have offered his papal prayers to the victims of the explosion, especially the families of the victims who lost their loved ones in the attack.

A telegram was sent to the entire Indian nation by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See.

“His Holiness Pope Francis was saddened to learn of the tragic fire at the Puttingal temple complex in Paravur, and he sends condolences to the relatives of the deceased and injured,” the telegram said.

“Praying for all affected by this tragedy, and for the relief efforts underway, Pope Francis invokes upon the nation the divine blessings of strength and peace.”
