Pope Francis takes off to Africa

The Holy Father and his entourage boarded the Alitalia plane from Rome’s Fiumicino Airport airport around 8am local time (7am GMT) to land in Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi at 5pm local time (2pm GMT) later today. This will mark the Pope’s first destination and visit to Africa.

Upon the Papal arrival in Kenya later today there will be a welcome ceremony for him. After that the Holy Father will be visiting the Kenyan President, President Uhuru Kenyatta at the State House.

Pope Francis before leaving Africa on the 30th of this month will still visit Uganda and Central Africa Republic, as he have declared himself as a messenger of Peace to continents like Africa that are war-torn and scared by extremist attacks and regional disputes.
