Was Jesus the Son of God or just a holy man and a prophet?

Full Question

I don’t have a problem with Christianity per se. I believe Jesus was a holy man and a prophet, even though I don’t think he was unique or God’s only Son.

Answer

You may not think you have a problem with Christianity, but you do, because Christians believe Jesus was (and is) God incarnate. It won’t do to call Jesus a mere prophet or holy man. Prophets and holy men claim to speak for God, but they don’t claim to be God, which is exactly what Jesus did. He identified himself with the all-powerful Lord (Jn 8:58, 10:30). Either he was who he claimed to be, or he wasn’t. If he wasn’t, he wasn’t a holy man or a prophet, but a wicked man or a fool.

JUST WHO WROTE THIS ANSWER? Whomever you are, you don’t know Jesus’ teachings worth squat.
Yes, he was the Son of God…as we ALL ARE. The ONLY PRAYER Jesus gave us starts out by saying that: “OUR FATHER, which art in Heaven…”

JESUS was the Son of GOD and through HIM we became the children of GOD. The Lord’s Prayer is a prayer the Lord Jesus taught His disciples in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4. Matthew 6:9-13 says, “This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be THY name, THY kingdom come, THY will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for THINE is the Kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever and ever, Amen.

Maria you had said exactly what I had been telling people all these years . Our Lord Jesus Christ as he had and has said that he was and is NOT GOD but Son of God. I am please you have a very good understanding of our Lord ‘s Teaching. But there are many Christian trying to claim Jesus Christ is God whom were preaching the OPPOSITE to Christ’s teachings. This is a very Dangerous thinking trying to change what Christ claimed He was and IS in his Teachings. God Bless you Maria. Thanks for Sharing .

The son of human is human. The Son of God is therefore God. Thats why Jesus is the unique and only Son of God because nobody is true Son of God by nature except Jesus. This Son of God who is God is incarnated into human form and was called Jesus.

The son of human is human. The Son of God is therefore God. This Son of God was incarnated into human and was called Jesus. Thats why Jesus is the only Son of God because nobody was born of God except Jesus. Being Son of God is not merely title when it applies to Jesus.. it is his true identity and nature.

If we are all children of God, how then Jesus be the ONLY Son of God?

Jesus taught his diciples to call “Our” Father while Jesus called God “My” Father, what then is the difference between the Sonhood of Jesus to God and ours? Jesus is Only Son of God while we are children of God? Why is Jesus not included in that “children” he being the Only Son. If we merited our sonship through Jesus, how then Jesus merited his Sonship?

If jesus was part of the children of god then he himself can not be our got for he would be out brother
Jesus was son of god because humanity is gods creation if u creat something you are its parents however jesus if fully god and fully man he leavels himself with god because he is the word and he calls himself the son of god because he is in human form thats why jesus if fully god and fully man he is the “word made flesh and dwell amongst us ” word of god is with god and the word of god is god and flesh is his creation he was born a human birth and died a human death but both death and birth was divine his birth was normal delever however was born of a virgin .jesus entered the womb through the holy spirit showin ghis godly power however was born in a stable but came out just like any other human showing his humble human nature . He died a death of a human which was dieing on the cross .however when the water and milk came out he showed us the sign that he spent his last drop of blood paying for our sins , so that our dept is cleared
jesus is the way the truth and the life
Noone comes to the father exept through him
For his death is the bridge to heaven
So u can believe what u want but but true love was shown to us 2015 years ago.

Another case he himself calling himself God! Just as the other one called himself the last prophet! God is fed up; he is sending the last prophet! God wants to clean everybody’s sin; so he sends his son! What a cock and bull story!

What a cock of bull story ?
Brother let me just tell u id rather believe in a “proffet according to u ” whos is still alive “according to quaran” than a dead profets teachings (pro mohamid)
According to quaran mohamid died and we dont know where he went
According to quaran jesus assended into heaven

According to quaran jesus breathed life into a bird made out of mud
So is jesus the creator or the creation ?
Surely the creation can not give life

Brother jesus christ is the same yesterday today and forever even your quaran says so

Why do u question your own belifs

Quaran says some facts about jesus,

One of them say jesus is the word of god
The world was created by the word of god
So is the word of god the creator or creation

If its the creation then quaran is lieing because its saying word of god created the world and if it is the creator then all muslims should become christians

Quaran calls us slaves of allah
Bibles calles us royal princess and princes or the air to the thrown of heaven

Quaran says on first page that only pure and holy people can read the quaran
So u got no rights to read it
Bible tells us jesus came for the sinners
I gladly accept i am a sinner and i am not even worthy to untie his shoes

Thata what makes him my hero cuz if not for him then id have no reason to live

Allah never made a promise to u that there is eternal life

Jesus christ promises that anyone who believes in him will never die but gain eternal life.

Jesus christ is the only source of eternal life.

I’m sorry bro for the long messege but at the end of the day JESUS CHRSIT LOVES U AS WELL

Please read Colossians 1:15-18, & John 3:16, which show Jesus had a beginning. God the Almighty has no beginning or end. Jesus said in John 6:44, ” No one can come to me unless the Father draws him”, and in chapter 5 of the same book Jesus repeatedly speaks about himself as the one sent by God, his Father. James 1:13 says’ “God can not be tried with evil and that He, himself, does not try anyone.” Jesus was tried as an evildoer by Pilate and tried, (or tempted), by the devil after being led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit. How could Jesus say in John 8:17 & 18 that there were two witnesses if Jesus was, in fact God? Jesus had to prove that man could obey God’s laws contrary to Satan’s thinking that man would only obey, if all was going well with him. We read of his attempts after approaching God in the heavens, to turn Job away from God in Chapters 1 & 2. God gave Satan the authority to try but under certain conditions as we read in those chapters. Proverbs 27:11 is a prophecy regarding Jesus, asking him to be wise in the face of the devil. There is also a prophecy in Proverbs 8 regarding Jesus prehuman existence and how he was by God’s side as a master worker. John 17:3 states we have to know God and His son to gain everlasting life. Means more than knowledge of them because even the demons have knowledge and shudder. (James 2:19)
Faith alone is not enough, we need works befitting that faith. (James 2:26)
Our worship of God should be to Him alone and not to any human who is sinful. The traits or attitudes of people today are aptly described in
2Timothy 3:1-5 and the words of the Apostle Paul should cause some to wonder if their religion falls into this category mentioned here in 1Timothy 4:1-5
God gave every one free will to chose what they want to do and He has not given any human the task of judging another. Thankfully He has given this authority to the Christ (Matthew 28:18) and as the Lamb of God he will complete his judging at Armageddon. (Revelation 6) Who
better to do this, than one who has suffered at the hands of men, had to pray to his Father for help, and then suffered the most horrendous death imaginable. He understands what we are going through. Only a loving God would work this way.
Jesus as a perfect human went to hell for three days. This is just the common grave in which there is no longer any existence as noted in Eccleciastes 9:5 & 10. God resurrected Jesus to immortal life and Jesus himself assures us that he will resurrect those who have died to a resurrection of judgement. (John 5:28 & 29)
_God did not take my daughter because He wanted another angel in heaven. That is not a loving God.
He does not take delight even in the death of the wicked. He would rather these people turn back from their ways as the people did in the Corinthian congregation. The Apostle Paul at 2Corinthians 6:9 & 10, reminds the congregation of habits that would stop people from being part of God’s Kingdom, but then went on to say that, because they no longer carried on as such, were now acceptable. We can’t change God’s standards to suit our own.
As Christians we need to be not only peaceable people but peacemakers.
Don’t you long for the time when Micah 4:3 & 4, & Isaiah 2: 3 & 4 is fulfilled? I know I do and eagerly await the time Psalm 37:9-11, 29 comes to fruition.
In the meantime I pray for God’s Kingdom to come, soon,(Matthew 6:9 & 10) though it will be in God’s due time, and humbly try to live up to my Christian responsibilities, knowing I am imperfect as everyone else is. Thank God for the sacrifice of His Son.
Let us all please be considerate of everyone’s point of view.
    Happy days to you all.

If Jesus is man even if he is perfect then it means that he is finite. If he is finite then all his actions have finite value. Paul said that man is short of the glory of God. How then can a finite redemption of Jesus be able to make satisfaction of the infinite justice of God which demands to be satisfied to make things right between the offender and the offended.

As to the Son of God (by nature) made man (Jesus) to suffer and be judge by men…it was a necessary action of the Son of God to become man to represent man the sinners in himself while remaining to be God..true God and true Man…so every single act of the Son of God made man has infinite value enough to merit the salvation of mankind.

If Jesus is not God then why did He forgive sins….why did He raise Lazarus…Why did He give life to a mud bird…If He was not God why did He know He will Die and Resurrect.
