Why is God silent?

Full Question

One huge impediment to my faith is that God never communicates with me. I pray daily, attend Mass often, and confess at least twice a month. But I still feel nothing but emptiness and silence from God. How is it possible to have a relationship with God if he won’t at least have a conversation with me?

Answer

If God ever ignored you, you would cease to exist. He affirms you with your every heartbeat. Are you disgruntled because he isn’t conforming to your standards? He speaks to you on his terms all the time. And I don’t mean just through his creation. He speaks to you by the gift of faith that he has given you. He speaks to you from every crucifix you have ever seen. But most of all he speaks to you from the chalice on the altar which contains the blood that he willingly shed for you. Think of this: We are attracted to the good in things and then love them for that reason. But when God loves things, he makes them lovable by loving them. When we look at a crucifix and see how much he loves us, we also see how lovable we are! All of this is Jesus speaking to us. But we have to be focused on him and not what we want from him. As for the good feelings that you want, he obviously has not determined that they would be the best for you at this time. Mother Teresa went without such gratification for 20 years. But he still spoke to her through the graces he gave her. I’m sure she would tell you that such gratification is worth waiting for.

I had to learn how to be confident when talking to God. I told Him that I wanted to talk to Him and I needed Him to just talk to me too. Then I began talking, listening, talking, listening… Eventually, God started “talking” in ways that still amaze me. I can literally hear him in my heart giving me the guidance I need, even sometimes helping me form the very question I want to ask.

Relax, be quiet. God loves you. Listen gratefully and you will hear His voice. Look around. See what He has done for us all.

I believe God always answers. Some people are in such a hurry that they ask and pray give it a few seconds and move on. He answers you in your day to day life if you learn to look for the signs. But if you pray and ask him to talk to you and truly listen, you will hear him. You may not hear a loud thunderous voice from a sole overhead cloud, but I guarantee that you will hear him in your heart.

If someone calls YOU by name, YOU WILL turn to him. Right?
If someone calls someone else’s name, YOU will NOT turn. Right??

God loves everyone He has created. God says He would turn to ANYONE if called on His Name. You are in Roman Catholic system which IS AGAINST GOD!! RC teaches all the MAN MADE traditions, rules, stories, sacraments, deities, commandments and so on, ALL OF THEM ARE NOT SCRIPTURAL.

YOU call on RC’s gods and goddesses and leave aside the real GOD who created you.
STOP listening to catholic priests, their catechisms and all, and start reading the Holy Scriptures (you call Bible).

Catholic system teaches you another Gospel, Another Jesus and Another spirit WHICH ARE NOT OF THE BIBLE. (2 cori 11:3-4)

Please come out of the Roman Catholic systems (Rev 18:4), you will hear God speaking to you.

    1. Confessions to priests — Not scriptural
*** Confess to God directly through Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

    2. Infant Baptism — Not scriptural
*** Bible teaches Adult Baptism with full knowledge of what YOU are doing to surrender to God; Immersed baptism is Biblical.

    3. Purgatory — Not in Bible
    4. Mother Mary worship / prayers to her– Not in Bible
    5. Worship of DEAD saints and praying to them — Not in Bible
*** The true believers who are alive are called SAINTS in Bible.
    6. God hates idol worship (Exodus 20:4-6), but RC church insists on it.
    7. Bible commands to worship GOD on His appointed day, the Sabbath. BUT RC church instructs you to worship saints, Mary and infant Jesus…etc on SUNday.
………… Like these, EVERYTHING the RC church teaches is full of LIES !!!

I was a catholic for 37yrs. Now, since 5yrs I am following the Holy Scriptures, and NOT man made stories. My family is blessed, my family is healed by God every time so we are not using any medicines, not even vaporubs for cold/headaches since last 5yrs. Any problem in the work?? I turn to God. Any problem with friends/family/society, we turn to God. He resolves Everything!!

If your question is FROM THE HEART, and if your Really serious in hearing the voice of God, THEN TURN TO GOD!!!!

READ HOLY SCRIPTURES AND OBEY ONLY GOD.

    GOD BLESS YOU !!

It is a feeling NOT the reality. God loves us and keeps on communicating with us. We seldom fail to recognize His voice, but still God loves us because God is love and we are His children.

  7. Deacon Bob Leicht Reply

God’s galactic thoughts and eternal character became a living, breathing man to communicate His Word to you, Jesus. If you want to know what God thinks, read/listen to His Word. If you want to know what God says, read/hear His Word. If you need His direction, dig it out/find the passages in the Bible. His Word in the Bible is Alive, not just ink on a page.

Hi Jovanne, I don’t know if you saw what I wrote about about hearing the male voice I heard shortly after my father died which was shortly after my son had died. I can tell you while this was totally unexpected I will say that whoever it was who spoke those words to me “Read The New Testament” 3x’s knew I had just lost my precious 20 year old son and then my father shortly after. While I don’t know who said those words to me I know I heard what I heard that morning and that the voice came straight from Heaven. So the point or my story is that obviously somebody in Heaven knew I had just lost my son and then my father too and felt that I needed to hear a message. I heard that message loud and clear so I like to pass along what I heard that morning. Was it God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, or an Angel I just don’t know but what I do know is it was a message straight from Heaven and that They know what goes on in our lives down here. I am living proof. So anyway i just wanted to tell you that They do know what goes on in out lives. I have spiritual things happen to me all the time anymore. Believe me that God knows what’s going on down here on Earth.

I’ve had Someone from Heaven speak to me. I don’t know if it was God, Jesus, or an Angel, but I have had Someone speak to me verbally. My beautiful 20 year old son died on February 18th 2013. We later found out it was due to a brain aneurysm. My family was devastated. We are all still heartbroken over this. Well my father died shortly after my son did. My father died on May 20th, 2013 almost 3 months to the day after my son did. My encounter with God, Jesus, or an Angel occurred the very next morning. As I was waking up the next morning I heard a very deep and powerful male voice. It was not a voice I recognized, but I know I heard what I heard. He said 4 words to me 3 times. He repeated the same 4 words “Read The New Testament.” I fully expected to find a man standing over me as I opened my eyes. There was nobody there. It was at the moment that I realized that I had just had a message from Heaven. I like to tell this story because I want people to know God, Jesus, and our Angels really do know what’s going on in our lives down here. I am living proof of it. I have never had something like this happen to me before. It was a shock hearing that deep powerful voice that morning. I can’t tell you who it was, just that it was a voice from the place we all know as Heaven.

Either you are not listening or you are not silent long enough to hear Him. There is a “prayer of quiet” in which you simply rest in Him without words. Don’t ask for Him to speak unless you are willing to obey. Moses stuttered, but God sent him to rescue His people from Egypt. Jonah didn’t want to go at all and got swallowed up and spit out. Mary declared herself the handmaid of the Lord, ended up having her Child in a cave, had to run to hide in Egypt, and still ended up at the foot of the cross watching her Son being murdered.
Ever hear the story of St. Teresa of Avila? On a cold, rainy day she was riding a mule on her way to a Spanish convent and the mule slipped, throwing her into a large, iced, wet, mud puddle. She looked up to Heaven from the puddle and complained, “Lord, that is no way to treat me when I am on your business.” God replied, “Teresa, that is how I treat all my friends.” Teresa said, “Yes, Lord, and that is why You have so few of them!”

I used to wonder why God never spoke to me until I realized he speaks to me through the Priest at Mass, through someone on Catholic radio…just listen, you’ll hear him, and some day, he’ll talk directly to you. I’m still waiting to hear “direct communication” but for now, I’ll take the second hand communication.

Read His very words in scripture daily. Ask the Spirit of the Lord to reveal what the Lord has to say and you will hear. Maybe not the first time but you will hear. The Lord speaks to us in many wonderful and amazing ways. His voice almost shouts in nature, he speaks to us through others (especially other Christians), He speaks to us through His Sacraments given freely to us. How much more love can our Lord Jesus Christ give then His very own Body and Blood? Oh yes, He speaks it is our listening skills that need work on. “Speak Lord, for your servant is listening.” 1Sam 3:9

God communicates to us thru events occuring in our daily lives and to our neighbors and thru what is happening around us.

try visiting the Lord present in the Tabernacle or at an Adoration Chapel and just sit in his presence, be still and listen for the whisper of God.
if you think you feel abandoned, just think of the Passion of the Christ and how he must have felt, and he prayed fervently to God.

God is not silent – especially in these days. Go to tlig dot org and read the thousands of beautiful Messages He has given us in our day. Nobody talks like the Lord and if you are a sheep of His pasture then you will recognize His Voice. He is wonderful! Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. There ar other beautiful Messages too but these are a good start. God bless.
