Cardinal Walter Kasper and retired Cardinal Godfried Danneels are among Pope Francis’s nominations
The Vatican has released the full list of participants for the upcoming synod on the family, which will take place from October 4 to 25.
Among Pope Francis’s personal nominations are Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Cardinal Walter Kasper and Fr Antonio Spadaro, editor of La Civilta Cattolica.
The Pope has also nominated Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, and Mgr Bruno Forte, Archbishop of Chieti-Vasto, Italy.
From Belgium, retired Cardinal Godfried Danneels has been selected by the Pontiff, while Belgium has also elected Bishop Johan Bonny to attend the synod.
Britain will be represented at the synod by Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Archbishop Philip Tartaglia of Glasgow and Bishop Peter Doyle of Northampton.
Rt Rev Tim Thornton of diocese of Truro will represent the Anglican Communion at the synod and Prof Pia Matthews from St Mary’s University, Twickenham, will attend as a collaborator.
