If Jesus was a Jew, why are we Catholic?

Jesus was a Jew both ethnically and religiously, he completed the religion by serving as the Christ whom the Scriptures long foretold even though majority of the Jews did not believe in him.

Christianity is the completed form of the Ancient Jewish religion, it is a pity that many of those who were ethnically Jewish did not recognize his role as Messiah, for this many did not accept Christianity, the completed form of Judaism. Instead they remained incomplete with the religion.

It wasn’t long before it was understood through the direction of the Holy Spirit that one did not need to be ethnically Jewish to be a follower of Christ, thus the Apostles began to preach to, and baptize many Gentile converts to the Christian faith. So Paul speaks about ethnical and religious Judaism :

“For he is not a real Jew who is one outwardly, nor is true circumcision something external and physical. He is a Jew who is one inwardly, and real circumcision is a matter of the heart, spiritual and not literal.” Romans 2:28-29

As time went on, unfortunately, some Christians broke away from the Church founded by Christ, so that a name became necessary to distinguish one Church from another. It was later decided that the Church Jesus founded be called “Universal” from Greek Kataholos which means “according to the whole”, this is how the term “Catholic” was applied to this Church

So Jesus was a Jew to complete the Jewish religion by creating a Church that would fulfil it and be open to people everywhere irrespective of their tribe and culture.

Why do we call the Catholic priest as “Father” while Jesus Christ called us brethren or brother , so in return we also call Jesus as brother as we got the same only true God his father & our Father , not Jesus as father as he is also a son of God just like us .

It is truly sad that some Christians hate the Jews when our Lord JESUS Christ was Jewish along with the Apostle

May the good Lord forgives those people that hate Jewish people because they are the old covenant and we catholics are renewal of the new covenant

  • The answer is in the Gospels….. and the Acts of The Apostles….. Some Jewish people accept Jesus as the Christ…. Helen Shepero, being one….

  • David says:

Mohammed was born a Jew also. Right?

    • No, Mohammed was not born a Jew. He was born a pagan Arab in the Arabian Peninsula where the only true ethnic Arabs come from.

    • shin says:

Yes indeed. But he build his own religion after death.

    • Alice says:

Both Ismael and Issac were son’s of Abraham…the Jews and Moslems are distantly related and both represent Semetic peoples.

      • Douglas DeBlase says:

You are under a false misconception. Mohammad was not in any shape or form related to ishmael or abraham. Ishmaels blood line died out over 1000 years before Christ. Mohammad was born something like 650 AD. Ishmaels family never left the Egypt Israel area where mohammad was born and lived in the yemani area. This whole thing that mohammad was related to ishmael son of abraham is just another lie from false religion trying to make you think that we worship the same God. Where infact they worship the moon God. Thats the reason for arab muslim nations putting a cicle moon on their flags

        • Atheek says:

Get ur facts right! Alice is right. Muhammad is a descendant of Abraham and Ismael. As a matter of fact, Arabs are the descendants of Ismael, who is the son of Abraham and Hajar, an Egyptian lady (his 2nd wife). Do u (from “true” religion) know about Muhammad and his people’s forefathers better than themselves??!
Issac is Abraham’s son from his 1st wife Sarah. Issac had 2 kids – Essau and Jacob (aka Israel). Jacob had 12 sons namely Rueben, Simon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, Benjamin, Dan, Naphtali, Gad and Asher. These sons and their descendants were called Children of Israel and that is the Jews.
And that, my friend, is how Muslims n Jews r related. 🙂
N islam is a strictly monotheistic religion like Judaism. There r a lot of similarities, although the Jews take the words of Rabbis, priests, etc, whle Muslims only take the word of God, which is the Qur’an, that was revealed through the final Prophet of God, Muhammad. The nature of God is same for both religions (non-physical, no idols for god). Muslim God is One, Allah, n not a “moon God”.
Muslims follow the Lunar Calendar, which means the appearance of moon predicts the start of their Arabic month. They don’t worship the moon, nor the ka’bah nor the black stone in the ka’bah nor any idols for that matter.
N don’t mix culture with religion (Arabic culture n islam). Arab flag has nothing to do with islam. The crescent moon is not the symbol of islam.

        • Atheek says:

N i would like to point out the major difference between Christianity and islam.
Muslims don’t believe that Jesus died on a cross, but God put someone else who looked like Jesus, in the place of Jesus to die on the cross, so that Jesus be saved and Jesus was taken up to the Heavens, only to return to the Earth before it’s about to end. Jesus is going to slay the anti-christ (Dajjal) and marry a lady and rule the Earth.
N they don’t believe that Jesus was the son of God. God created Adam, the Father of Man, without a male and female pair. N He created Jesus from chaste Mary without a male pair. He is able to do all things. Trinity is against the monotheistic nature of islam.
Muslims believe Jesus to be a Prophet of God.

          • Factoidite says:

It is incomprehensible that people pick & choose what they want to believe without regard to facts. Anyone who has heard of Muhammad should know he died – end of story – he was not sent by God nor was Buddha – who died also. Neither were anything more than legitimate prophets – nothing miraculous about them occurred. Jesus, sent by the One True God, rose from the dead, returned & walked our earth for 40 days, revealing Himself to the apostles in Galilee (John 21:13) who witnessed His return before Jesus ascending into heaven to rule until the end of the world.

            You right

          • Linda says:

            Atheek says , you right

    • Atheek says:

Muhammad was not a descendant of Jacob (aka israel), who is the son of issac (who is the son of Abraham). Hence, not a Jew, as Jews are Descendants of Jacob. Muhammad was a descendant of ismael, brother of issac and son of Abraham. Arabs r descendants of ismael.

      • Paul says:

Regardless Atheek, Islam is a false religion. Jesus Christ is truth in the flesh, he is not a prophet. Mohammed is a false preacher like many of the other false prohets that came after Christ. Islam is irrelavant. Only Christianity guarantees peace to the individual and the humanity. Who cares what Muslims believe or are brainwashed to believe, it is a throwback to the Old Testament. What is best for all humanity is that Muslims covert to the true faith Christianity.

    • Winston Lopez Veloso says:

He’s a white Arab. He doesnt have any jew lineage. Self proclaimed phrophet, Never perform any miracle. And was born six(6) hundred years after Jesus Christ. He’s responsible of destroying 20,000 Christian churches and beheading millions in his Life time. It took Arabs 250 years after his death before proclaiming him a phrophet by 7,000 scriptures out of 600,000 scriptures all by oral tradition. Unlike the Christian Bible, which was written by John himself which was the eye witness the teachings and miracles along side of Jesus Christ.
To all my Brothers and Sisters, seek the truth, study historical evidence. Ask the Holy spirit guidance. Remember, you are responsible of the souls of your family and your followers. Jesus Christ is coming back very soon.

  • Deborah says:

I was taught by the priests at St. Mary’s church that Jesus was not a Jew he was a Nazareen (not sure of spelling). He began his own teachings of his Father and heaven. When Jesus died he left it up to St. Peter to begin his church. It was then that the church of Christ was born and it was Catholic. We recognize Mary the Blessed Virgin in our faith along with the saints. This is why so many of the high priests during the time of Christ wanted him crucified. They feared him!

    • The high priests had no power to crucifiy Jesus, even if they had wanted to do so, which they probably didn’t! Crucifixion was a Roman practice, and they, not the Jews, ruled the Land of Israel at that time. Jews were a conquered people, starving and struggling to figure out how to survive physically and spiritually under the cruel, pagan regime. Crucifixion was a “special” punishment, designed to be the most painful and frightening; it was used to wipe out rebellion, and it “worked” very well! Rome prevailed! Jewish sources tell of “the road from Jerusalem to Rome had a crucified Jew every 4 amot”. That probably isn’t literally true, because getting to Rome requires a sea trip, and 4 amot is a pretty small measurement. What they meant was, there were lots of Jews crucified by the Romans, and that we Jews were having hard times! Rome did indeed fear Jewish rebellion; they knew that while we Jews were a small and weak people, we were their only real cultural rival. The belief in One God was (and remains!) the most revolutionary concept in human history. Rome did conquer Israel, and we have continued to suffer that defeat for about 2,000 years. God lets us suffer; but He does not let the nations of the world destroy us, His People, and we have not abandoned His Torah.

      • All true. I remember watching the Wisconsin state senate ram through an anti-labor bill by highly questionable means in 2011, and I realized it reminded me of the highly irregular proceedings of the Annas/Caiaphas ‘party’ among the Sanhedrin in ‘trying’ Jesus at night. According to tradition, Nicodemus learned of this by sheer accident, no one knows if Joseph of Arimathea was there (probably not) and Gamaliel, the president of the Sanhedrin then, wasn’t there either. So how can any Jew alive today, or even as far back as Jesus’s time, be held accountable for the questionable legality of stacked-deck proceedings like this?!
I’ve also heard that Annas and Caiaphas had to do a deal of explaining to Pilate, after Jesus drove the money-changers and merchants from the Temple, that it was merely a domestic disturbance and NOT the start of a revolt against Rome! And, as a result, they were terrified of what Jesus might ‘inspire’ Pilate to do next! Hence, they can be said to have acted like a WWII ‘Judenrat’ for Herr Governor-General Pilate.

      • alida baini says:

Regardless if the Cricifixion is Roman or Jewish practice the Jews crucified Jesus according to tbe Gospels.

        • Jim says:

The Jews that were “CREDITED” with the death of Jesus, were appointed by Rome to be the eyes and ears of the Romans. Those Jews named in the Bible had actually become “honorary citizens” of Rome, and betraying their own people. So what it actually comes down to is that the Jews as a people, were not the responsible party to the murder of Our Lord Jesus. So now with that said, would or could someone please tell me why people hate the Jews! Most people claim they hate the Jews because they killed Jesus! #1-That’s not true as I have just explained. #2- Jesus had to be crucified in order that the prophecy would come to pass. People who claim to hate Jews have probably never had one as a friend. I myself think the Jews are a MORE than honorable people, and have quite a few that I am honored to call my friends! And from information that I have gleaned from the Bible, and secular writings, I believe I may have some Hebrew blood in my veins.

          • The theologian Franz Rosenzweig had (imho) a cogent reply to your question: “Whenever the pagan within the Christian soul rises in rebellion against the law, he vents his fury on the Jews.” Makes sense, doesn’t it? And, of course, the pagan tries to cloak it with ‘Christian’-sounding verbiage.

          • Anthony Pennington says:

Doesn’t matter if you’re Jewish or whatever, Jesus says, love all, everyone deserves respect, I’m not Jew , but I love the Jewish people and all humans, we’re all God’s creation , in the eyes of God, we’re all His children. I am catholic and proud of it, Jesus is the way to life, happiness and peace, Amen.

        • C..Mastros says:

Please understand that Jesus was and still is Jewish, as was/is Blessed Mother, as was the Apostles, as are all Roman Catholics. Therefore; the simplistic statement ” the Jews crucified Jesus ‘ is naive and needs further willingness to understand what actually unfolded. God our Father is a Hebrew God. In addition, Roman law was the only law of the time.

          • bus29 says:

if jew can cruxify the supposedly God almighty then of what essence is the power atrtibutable to him. certainly it is only the omnipresence God that is almighty and not jesus because he has limitation.’i can of my own do nothing of my own will except the will of the father’ this is a simple term for people of understanding to know that jesus was a dependent personality and not dependent. secondly every christian has turn to idiol worshiper because of the nature of their belief.

As for Cathlicism it is not part of the Judaism! Otherwise why the Catholic is not allowed to marry more than one woman? And why the Gospels are full of contrsfictions with the old Testaments

      • Which parts of the gospels are in contradiction with the tanakh? You do know this is impossible right? The gospels are a recording of how to properly teach the Torah, prophets and writings. It was dictated by rabbis and a pharisee- the OT was ALL they were using. The Greek interpretations are often in conflict with the actual meanings of the scripture..this is due to the blatant antisemitic practices of the early (Catholic-not Christian) church. Christ came to explain the word of YHWH…the “old testament”. There are no contradictions in the WORD..only a lacking in our understanding.

Jesus was a Jew, called a Rabbi, and preached to Jews exclusively. Those who listened to him understood his message in terms of Jewish Torah teachings, the Temple, and the Synagogue. Because of flaws in most translations of the Torah (Bible) most non-Jews don’t really understand the Bible as Jesus understood it and preached it. “Targum Americana – Bereshit / Genesis” brings you this understanding of the Bible as no other translation does. • Mark Terry says:

This reminds me of a story.
A faithful Jewish man sent his son to the university and he became a Christian. Very concerned he went to his rabbi.
He went to the synagogue and he said, “Rabbi, Rabbi, I sent my son to the university and he became a Christian, what can we do?”
The Rabbi surprised him and said, “I sent my son to the university and he became a Christian, we should go to the rabbi in New York and ask him about it.”
Off they went with their request.
“Rabbi, Rabbi, we sent our sons to the university and they became Christians, what should we do?”
The rabbi said, “I sent my son to the university and HE became a Christian. We should go to the Rabbi in Israel.”
Off they flew and came to the rabbi in Israel. “Rabbi, rabbi…”
And he replied the same way.
“I sent my son to the university and he became a Christian.”
    We should ask the Lord.
Lord, Lord , we sent our sons to the university and they became Christians, what should we do?”
The Father answered, “I sent my Son…”

  • ditto114 says:

You need to read the Catholic church’s own documents about Jews…you are way off base. Judaism is the first covenant, as Paul taught, and it is valid in and of itself. Christ brought the second, but NOT newer and better covenant, and Paul is very clear about this primarily in Romans but lots of other places as well. Don’t answer theological questions about which you rare misinformed, it damages other people’s faith.

    • Sammy Caballero says:

Let me share Kristine Darg’s article in Jerusalem Channel who wrote:
      Kristine Darg:
We are a branch not the root, and really Christianity cannot stand alone. Judaism is the foundation of our faith. That is why I describe myself as a Judeo-Christian. Without my Hebraic roots, Christianity cannot be explained or understood.
Followers of Rabbi Jesus/Yeshua believe He died to make Atonement as God’s sacrificial lamb upon the altar of the Cross. The Gospel invites sinners to look by faith to the judgment of our sin on the Cross for all time and eternity. And when we look by faith at the Cross, as Moses lifted the brazen serpent in the wilderness, we live, and our sins are forgiven vicariously. The New Testament assures us that the names of those who are saved by faith are recorded in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
“He that overcomes… I will never blot his name out of the Book of Life.” (Revelation 3:5)
“Anyone not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15)

  • The Jewish religion is man made- the faith and worship of the children of Israel- which we ALL are under Christ- has not and IS NOT to be changed. Christ did not complete anything he fulfilled the laws( exemplified and brought understanding of them). The was no stopping of Judaism and beginning of Christianity- God has never worked this way. The GOSPELS tell us this repeatedly, Paul tells us this, Jesus demonstrated this. The new covenant is a grafting… not a new planting. The reason why you are Catholic is that you have been a victim of a GREAT deception. The only way to clarify is to study your Bible- the OT and the NT( for one verifies the other) and follow the path of your Lord- learn the words that were written on his heart. Remember that for the master of creation everything flows continuously and sensibly- these gaps(Judaism to Catholicism) are entirely man made.

    • CThimesch says:

ummm. There’s no gap. The apostles still went to the synagoge until they were kicked out and also worshipped the Eucharist in homes and in the catacombs. Catholicism fulfills and fulfilled Judaism. Read the history of the Christian Church. The Catholic Church. The Church Fathers will give you understanding.

    • Yessenia Durán says:

No one ever said that people stopped Judaism and began Catholic, or that there is gaps. The reason is because us as Catholics still follow laws and commendments of Judaism–we come from there. For example, lets say you have a car you bought new. Years pass and the car start to have some part not functoning well, like headlights or the battery, you have to replace it with a newer one right. Both part serve for the same thing, but yet they are two different things. One is new, one is old; one might be black, the other grey. Therefore, the Catholic church, or, to be exact, Christianity does not make gaps with Judaism, it didn’t stop Judaism. Rather, it is a continuation. It is a completement. The reason why the Catholic church (Christianity) completes Judaism is because in Judaism testaments it is foretold the coming of the Messiah and that happened: with Jesus Christ. The Jewish testaments were completed by the coming and the death of the Messiah: Jesus Christ.

Tell that to the Blessed Mother who has visited the earth for centuries. Read about Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Fatima, The Miracle of the Sun in Fatima, Our Lady of Kibeho,Our Lady of Hope, the Virgin of Pontmain, and Our Lady of Lourdes. There is no requirement to believe any of these apparitions or their message, but you may learn something if you read a little more about the Catholic faith. I have never attended a Catholic Church where they put down any other religion. In fact at Mass this morning our priest mentioned a great Lutheran scholar and minister.
Our Blessed Mother has been sent by her Son through the ages to send a message of love, faith, prayer, penance and reparations and with a message that time is short before her Son returns. You may love your faith but learn a little more before you cut someone other’s faith down.

  • Because catholicism is the enemy of the TRUE Messiah, having adopted multitudes of pagan practices even from it’s beginning. That’s why The Messiah said to “Come out of her, my people.” Babylon and Rome are synonymous in Peter 1,2, and 3. Wake up people3!!!!

    • How about a list of those supposed “pagan practices” so we can discuss them and I can give you an answer to this ridiculous charge. I was Protestant all my life and found that these charges of “adopting pagan practices” have no validity at all.

Seek and yee shall find. Catholicism was founded in the first century when they made changes such as worshiping on the Sabbath. God made that day holy for a reason. They adopted Roman customs to make everybody at that day happy. read history books from that time… SEEK…

        • Sure they adopted Roman customs. Suuuuuuure they did. That’s why they were food for lions and put the sword for the first four centuries of the Church.
As for the Sabbath, it belonged to the nation of Israel as part of their covenant with God. That covenant is over, therefore, so is Sabbath worship.

I love reading the Old Testament.. and I love reading about the ‘Jewish” God.. but I believe Jesus Christ was also God.. and it is the same God.. and I believe Jesus was Jewish.. and is the fullfillment of all the Prophecies in the Old Testament.. I am Catholic.. which I believe is the ‘correct’ religion to be.. but I also believe what Jesus said about ‘in my father’s house there are many mansions’.. I believe he meant for denominations.. even good Jewish people go to a Heaven..I also believe the Catholic Heaven is the ‘top’ Heaven.. which is not that strange.. we believe in Angels and Saints, and Mary and that she has power and is very close to God.. so hopefully we will get to see her.. I have read some of the Jehovah Witnesses booklet I got and they believe that when they die they will go to a ‘lower’ Heaven and not a “Celestial” Heaven.. so that is interesting.. the bottom line.. it is all about LOVE..”thou shalt Love the Lord thy God with all thy Heart, mind and soul.. and love thy neighbor as thyself”… God is love,, in Heaven there is Love.. and Jesus Christ was LOVE incarnate.. that is why He is on the cross with his arms wide open.. AMEN..l

    • Yessenia says:

I agree with you and I like what you said. To be from a denomination doesn’t necessarily mean that you will go to hell, it is just that you are missing on so much: especially the Eucharist. I used to be visited by a Jehovah Witness and what she told me they believe is that Jesus is not God, He is just the son of God. That one day Jesus will return to earth, get the bad people out, and leave the goods ones here. He will renew this earth and we (the good) will stay here together where Jesus will be our governor. I am not really sure of this but it is what I understood she said.

I am a Roman Catholic because I follow The Teachings of Jesus The Christ. As best as I can understand Jesus was born Jewish and lived as a Jew and died as a Jew. St Peter our first Pope also (as many of the early Christians) was born, lived and died a Jew. What distinguished the early Jewish/Christian religious practices was the inclusion of The Sacrament of Communion, that they practiced on the sabbath but outside of the Temple. I therefore consider myself and all Roman Catholics as: Progressive Jews or Complete Jews. Though we call ourselves Catholic, which many take to mean a seperate and distinct religion unto itself, we are in truth True Jews, for me to considr myself anything else would be an insult to Jesus and God The Father.

  • For those who were asking fire examples if pagan practices, here are a few… Sunday worship instead of God’s true Sabbath, Christmas (Saturnalia) with the tree and the mistletoe and the Yule log (all pagan), Easter with its fertility symbols all from Babylon, the worship of Mary- pagans were doing that long before you, not to mention lent and praying with “vain repetitions”. Please don’t just accept these “traditions of men”, look up their origins and ask yourself if good wants to be worshipped the same way as Baal was out would he rather be worshipped the way He told you to. God wants to be worshipped in spirit and truth.

    • Sabbath worship is part of the covenant of which national Israel had with the Jews as a specific people.
31:16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
The Old Covenant is over, and with it being set aside, the Sabbath as day of worship was also set aside.
Catholics do not “worship” Mary. We honor Her. You really need to learn the difference. Now, why exactly do we honor Her? First of all, because She is the Mother of the New Creation, the One who was called “the New Eve” by the Early Fathers of the Church. Do you remember the commandment “Honor thy father and thy mother….?” That is what we are doing?
How do we come to this conclusion? Because Jesus, as man, is the Last Adam (1 Corin. 15:45). This title shows that the redemptive work of Christ has restored the covenant positions of Adam (covenant head) and Eve (covenant helpmeet) over mankind. Everything that was meant to be in the Garden, all that our first parents were meant to become, has come to fruition in Jesus and Mary.
Secondly, in this restoration of Adam and Eve, the kingship and queenship of mankind is restored. Adam was the son of God (Luke 3:38). As the son of the One Who is called the Great King in Psalms, he was a prince (sons of kings are princes). Therefore, his wife was princess. And princes and princesses become kings and queens. It was the desire of God that the universe be filled with kings and queens, rulers who bear his authority over Creation. We know this from the promise in Revelation.
Rev 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
If you understood the concept of Suzerainty kingship, you would understand Jesus as the Suzerain of mankind. And Mary, the New Eve, is the Queen of Heaven and Earth, who is co-regent with Her Son.
As for vain repetitions, have you never seen this verse:
Rev 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
That’s all they do. Seems that their “vain repetition” doesn’t bother God one iota.
You are in a state of ignorance and blindness, sir. If you wish a cure for it, you should get this book:
Written by a former Fundamentalist/Calvinist who used to believe everything you have posted here.

Oh my God! This made me laugh so much! Thank you. Firstable the Sabbath day is uncertain. A true Catholic Christmas does not include the tree and mistletoe. I grew up withought them. Thats more of a Protestant Christian. We do not think of Easter as “fertil” like i said a true Catholic Easter is the resurrection of Jesus. I grew up never thinking of Easter as with bunny and all of those symbols. WE DO NOT WORSHIP MARY!!!! A true Catholic believes that Mary is in heaven and from there she can INTERCEDE for us and protect us like the mother she is to us all. Whats wrong with lent? And ehat do you mean by “vain repetitions”? And i can prove all this with scripture.

  • Dr. Rivera López says:

Catholics are pagan worshipers of Baal and Tamuz a concoction of false doctrines and spurious books written centuries after the historical events. Constantine toman emperor the creator of the pagan cult was a murderer who killed even his own family. Today practices such as human blood and flesh consumption and the raping and sacrificing of children are part of the pagan cult. For 1500 years they have committed the most abhorrent abominations against all nations. Plus xii secretly planed the death of the Jews in Europe. Fortunately all these truths can be found and corroborated by all. They cannot escape the judgement of history.

    • Stop committing a sin. Pope Pius XII took actions which helped to motivate the actual saving of upwards of 750,000 Jews predominantly in Italy but elsewhere also using Catholic grounds to harbor them. We’ve turned the corner where unfortunate souls like yourself can spew such falsity under the guise of intellectual honesty whether you be a Doctor or not. Fear the Lord. This comes first before you can love with all your heart, mind, and soul.

      • Bob says:

You know Vinny, this kind of thing that the so called doctor is saying used to really get me wound up. Now I am comfortable enough in my Catholic faith that it doesn’t bother me. He still needs to be answered though. I actually feel sorry for him. I hope that God will open his eyes and soften his heart.

    • Bob says:

Riiiiight Doctor. Just last Sunday I was at my catholic church worshipping Baal (we don’t worship Tammuz, he’s a false god) while sacrificing and eating little kids at the alter. Yeah, that’s the ticket, happens every week.
      What a nut case.

      • Perhaps now you understand why the Catholic Church burned heretics. They go out, teach their madness, lies, distortions, and evil behavior to others, and the stuff they teach spreads like cancer. It’s been 500 years since the Protestants started making up these accusations and these lies are still around today! They just will not go away, and the problem is that people with weak minds, like Dr. Whosiewhatsis, eat this garbage like prime rib and then go and spread it around as if it is pure gold when it is pig manure.

I don’t think u actually understand “vain reputation” afterall jesus Christ in the garden of gathsamane prayed the same prayer three times ” father if this cup cannot pass me let u r will be done” the adjectival phrase” vain ” help to further define that it is a prayer that is empty without faith and spiritual connection. It’s just like when jesus was telling his disciples about two people praying one remorseful with his sin and quietly begging God for forgiveness and the other a pharasee shouting and boostfull in his prayer. That doesn’t mean that God will not hear u if u pray in a loud voice, what it means is that u should commit ur spirit to the will of God . That’s y we caths c prayer as not just talking to God but a relationship with God such that our minds and spirit are connected to God. I think u r allegations are a little bit old fashion, and use to believe them too, but a good research will help u realise the conspiracy theory between Dan brown (davinci code), Muslims and Protestant, bcos all of them acuse the cath church of corrupting the truth. But they still use the Bible produced by the cath church. Especially protestant claiming its the final authority. The worst part is that they claim to read the Bible even when the Bible never mentioned that it is the source of finally authority, but the church and apostles. They claim that they do not follow man’s doctrine, when the concept of “solar scripture” only the bible is of luther (man) not christ. The most irritating is that the Protestant Bible was adopted and produced by King James, a king of England. I’ve also come to realised that the cath mass. The priest does not say his word but repeat the word of jesus unlike the Protestant pastor who tries to interprete the scripture according to his understanding and “inspiration” in their service. Please they have enslaved u enough and twisted the truth, the white is turn to be black and black turned to be the white. I will not advocate u become a cath but a little research might help u remove the three in ur eye. I hope u won’t go researching from ur pastors who are more ignorant than u and are bound on subverting the truth, but a more neutral research might help u. Only the truth can set up free

Catholic Christianity is what I want to be all my life. Other religion may talk negative about it but this I can say much… Ours is an apostolic church. It is Christ centered.. And its teachings goes as deep but constant… As Pope Francis told us yesterday ( Jan 18, 2015 -Philippines) Think good, feel good and do good- 3 important languages that we can use in being a good Christian.. his pastoral visit theme : Mercy and Compassion… Only Catholic religion has a Pope the vicar of Christ that even non Catholics ( but believe in Christ) respects and honors, and leads the entire Catholic Church. We don’t worship Mary but honors her of her godliness.. For how can you honor the son and ignores the mother. And at the foot of the cross before Christ died ( him as human ) He gave us Mary to John as our mother ( John represents ” the children of God that includes you and me ) Jesus died FOR EVERY HUMAN
BEING. TO SAVE US FROM ETERNAL DEATH and all because of love.. Only Cathoilics take this mysterious teaching. Repetitions? Haven’t you read in the Bible the repeated request of a woman to a judge? The judge finally granted her request so she stops repeating? It’s the same concept.. If we keep repeating our prayer its because we believe that repeating means affirmation.

    • aymamibrockway says:

You do realize that the Church was not started until the first Pentacost don’t you? The Catholic Church was the first Chritian Church and it began when the Holy Spirit decended upon the the apostles in 33AD after Christ’s death and resurection. How did the Catholics have Him crucified? Please read your Bible. It clearly spells out who had Him crucified.

  • M Spicer says:

To sum things up, Jesus was not a Catholic.

    • aymamibrockway says:

Of course He was not Catholic, He was a Jew. The Catholic Church began on the first Pentacost after His death. He was not Catholic but the Catholic Church is the Church which He built upon the rock of Peter, Kephas.

It started withh Babel. Known as Babylon. King Nimrod built a city. One of his buildings was built to reach the heavens. God did not like that. Nimrod did not like God. As they built this building God changed their languages so they could not communicate to keep building that tower. Because of this the people went separate ways On the earth. Humankind became different in looks depending were they lived on the earth hence different nationalities. First Gods people were Jews but their religious leaders murdered Christ so God nolonger choose them anymore. God turned his attention to the Gentile nations (anyone not a jew) to take a people for his name. Now, God has choosen n chooses from other people, or nations.

I belong to the church Christ created and believe in the teachings he put down for simon peter.therefore i am a catholic and follow the holy see.

  • Jean says:

Jesus said He would build His church, not on Peter, but on the Rock of Peter’s testimony that Jesus is the promised Son of God, our Savior!

    • aymamibrockway says:

All throughout the history of the Church it was clearly understood that that passage refers to Peter and that Jesus is building His Church on Peter, the Rock. It wasn’t until Martin Luther came along with his heresy that the thought of Jesus not building His Church on Peter was made up. Luther had to do that otherwise he would have to recognize the supremacy of the Pope. In other words he could not go off and make up his own church founded on himself instead of Jesus.
Jesus said you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church. The Aramaic for Rock is Kephas (Cephas). Guess what else Kephas translates to in Aramaic….Peter! So Jesus was renaming Simon to Peter (Kephas) and said to him “You are Kephas and upon this Kephas I shall build my Church. In the Bible, when God changes someone’s name, he is making them a leader, Abram to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah, Jacob to Israel, etc. He only changed Peters name that day, no one else’s. Clearly singling out Peter as the leader of His Church. Jesus then gives Peter the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. Back in the day, that was significant. A leader of a kingdom would leave someone in charge in his absence and that person would be given the keys to the kingdom. Everybody back then knew this because that was very clear, common and well understood thing back then. Throughout the NT, Peter is seen as the leader of the Church. There has been an unbroken line of Popes since Peter right up to today since the gates of hell shall not and has not prevailed against it. The Church did not change into a different church when Linus followed Peter or Cletus followed Linus or Clement followed Cletus or…well ever. So the Church that Jesus started that must still be around today since the gates of hell shall not prevail, was given to Peter to lead and it was then passed to Linus, etc. right up to Francis today. This is the Catholic Church. All 30,000 – 40,000 protestant churches can trace their roots back to a man, Martin Luther who broke from Jesus’ Church and started his own man-made church. If there is, as the Bible says, only one Church, then which one is it? The one started by Jesus and passed on for almost 2000 years or one of the 30,000+ started by Luther and those who broke away from him?

  • gabrielj53 says:

It is clear in the Gospels that Christ told his disciples when he ascended “Now that I have died for your sins you dont have to worry about that rigorous “law” we have been keeping, go tell everyone they can eat pork, and stop celebrating the feasts and stop reading the Torah, dont worry about living a life of holiness because everything is under grace now, Oh and disregard the 1500 years my Father has spent trying to teach the Jews how to live, that was just so I could die and change everything, he didnt really want you guys to keep living like that. Don’t you feel better!”
Oh Wait he didnt say any of that, he said “Go forth and make disciples” meaning go forth and teach others how I have shown you how to live, abiding by Torah by it being written in your hearts fulfilling the words of Jeremiah. In fact “Torah” means “Teaching” not “Law” so the Christian Church tells people ignore the “Teachings” of the Old Testament because “Praise be to God” we are no longer under his teachings we are free in grace. Sounds Irrational to me…

        • Lu says:

First off, Jesus himself said he did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17-20)
And it was decided at the first Council of Jerusalem that there were going to be a few things that Gentile converts did not have to do before becoming Christian. It’s in Acts:
So…..yeah, it became ok for Christians to eat pork, are you kidding me with the idea that we don’t celebrate feasts, read the first five books of Scripture, or try to live lives of holiness? Where do you get that people are saying that?

          • gabrielj53 says:

Since no one on here actually likes to post scripture they just want to quote and leave scripture references without actually reading them I will start…
Thank you for pointing out Matthew 5:17-20 this is a perfect passage to prove the ridiculous absence of knowledge within the “church” when dealing with scripture.
“17“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
First, Jesus said in 17 that he did not come to destroy the law or the prophets, in 18 he says nothing will pass from the law until all is accomplished. First area of complaint; do you think all was accomplished on the cross? Jesus is not yet reigning upon the Earth as the King in New Jerusalem, therefore there is still much left of the Torah and the Prophets to be fulfilled such as the Great and Terrible day of the Lord which is spoken of all throughout the Minor Prophets and elsewhere. So all has not been accomplished because there is still much left for the Messiah to accomplish.
Second, verse 19 Jesus says “Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” Why would he say this if he intended for the disciples to begin teaching that the Law and the Prophets had been fulfilled now go teach “Grace”… Uh, because he didnt, he intended for all that had been established to continue along with the work he was doing, hence why he says right here that if you teach others to follow the commandments you will be called great because they are still important.
Now for Acts 15 the Jerusalem Council
“19Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those of the Gentiles who turn to God, 20but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood. 21For from ancient generations Moses has had in every city those who proclaim him, for he is read every Sabbath in the synagogues.”
As you can see here the decision has been made that Gentiles are to begin there walk with the Lord by abstaining from 1. things polluted to idols, 2. sexual immorality, 3. things strangled, 4. and blood. The question is why did they start with these things and what do all of these things have in common. The answer is that all four of these things were done in the Pagan temples and followers of Jesus were not to be associated with the pagan gods, temples, systems, etc… This was how the gentiles were expected to show there commitment to Jesus and there refusal of the world system, but that was not the end only the beginning.
In verse 21 you can see that the Council expected the Gentiles to attend the synagogues every Sabbath where they would learn the teachings of Moses which were given to him by Jesus on Mt. Sinai, Jesus’ own rules, regulations and teachings of how to live, love God and love one another.
As far as eating clean is concerned consider Isaiah’s words about the time of the end during the final judgments of God upon the Earth:
            Isaiah 66:15-17
15“For behold, the Lord will come in fire,
and his chariots like the whirlwind,
to render his anger in fury,
and his rebuke with flames of fire.
16For by fire will the Lord enter into judgment,
            and by his sword, with all flesh;
and those slain by the Lord shall be many.
17“Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go into the gardens, following one in the midst, eating pig’s flesh and the abomination and mice, shall come to an end together, declares the Lord.
So any half way decent Biblical Scholar will tell you that this passage in Isaiah speaks of End Times events and guess what God still hates people eating pig’s flesh as it says in verse 17.
Also, you can take any time in the New Testament where clean and unclean food is even possibly being discussed and you will realize the context is not actually talking about food, but about gentiles (such as in Peters vision) or rituals (such as Jesus addressing the cleansing of the cup situation).
Celebrating Feasts??? are you kidding? Only a very small remnant of “Christians” keep the Feasts of the Torah (the first five books of the Bible) so yes I am more than justified in saying that predominantly the Church knows nothing about the Feasts. I guarantee you most “Christians” couldn’t tell you how many feasts there are or even what their names are, I’m not saying you individually, but predominantly “Christians” know nothing about this.
Lastly, living in Holiness? I don’t know where you are from, but here in America the Moral decline in the Church is startling to say the least. The news rarely even follows anymore when Pastors get caught cheating on their wives, embezzling money, caught using drugs, buying prostitutes and so on. Many denominations are now accepting same sex marriage which is an obvious abomination in the Torah that doesn’t seem to matter anymore. The divorce rate in the church is the same and even worse in some areas than the nations national average. So how can you, if you are attempting to take an honest and critical approach to the issues I have discussed, actually say that these facts are irrelevant?
The reality is a very high percentage of the “Christian Church” knows very little about scripture and has a very weak theological grasp on what scripture is saying. The personal responsibility of every member of the body of Christ is rarely spoken of, why, because to many pastors tickle the ears of their congregants in order to assure growth and continuous tithe. Jesus and what he really stood for, who he really was and is and what he desires of his people is so watered down in American Christianity that I wonder if he even considers most of our nations “Religious Bodies” as part of his body.
I appreciate your questions and am glad to point out some things you either may be over looking or are not being honest about, I hope the Lord guides both of us to him and his desires not mans.

          • Interpret Gen. 15:6 and Rom. 14:1-3 and 13. Gal. 3:21-24. Rom. 6:14 & Gal. 5:18 & Rom. 8:2. But the law is not to be trod under as Paul explains Rom. 6:15 & Gal. 5:14; and further in Rom. 8:3-4. Yet in Matt. 5:17-19 we have Jesus giving us a concise picture for those who have further questions in their hearts. Last we have Col 2:16.

  • James Sams says:

Yeshua [Jesus] had more than an estimated one million Jewish followers, during the early history of the Church…They were know [then and now] as Messianic Jews; their numbers were decimated [from persecution] by the Roman Empire, for refusing to give up their Jewish identity. In 325 C.E., Gentile believers broke away from their Jewish brothers and sisters, in order to avoid being killed [murdered]. Also, some Messianic Jewish believers in Yeshua gave up their Jewish faith, in order to avoid persecution; thus, Messianic Judaism gradually faded away, until 1967, when the City of Jerusalem [Temple Mount] was once again in Jewish hands. Since 1967, Messianic Judaism has rapidly increased [growing] worldwide. There are more than one hundred Messianic Congregations [today] in Israel alone. The Bible confirms that 144,000 Messianic Jews will preach the Gospel, during the Great Tribulation. Furthermore, Scripture reveals that it was God Himself, who partially blinded Israel, until the last Gentile has been Saved; after which, Israel will be once again at the fore front of major events, starting with the antichrist confirming a ‘Seven Year Peace Treaty’….which will be the beginning of the Seven Year Tribulation.
Jewish People have been greatly persecuted, and accused of murdering their Jewish Messiah; even though the Bible plainly teaches us that it was the Jewish Religious Leaders [only some of them, conspiring with Roman Authorities in Jerusalem] who killed our Messiah. In addition to this fact, the Bible also teaches us that we [mankind] are all guilty for His death; because, Yeshua took upon Himself, the Sins of Mankind, so that we could all be ‘Saved from Eternal Damnation.’

  • Plejeune says:

Even as a child I did not understand, and still do not understand, why anyone would or could be “blamed” for the death of Jesus. It happened as it had to happen. Jesus accepted this before he came to us. He knew he would be betrayed, beaten and killed, and he accepted that because it was the only way to pay for our sins, to save us. How else could he be resurrected unless he first die. Even before the First Adam sinned, damning all humans to sin and death, God had a backup plan to send Jesus, the Last Adam, to redeem us.

  • gabrielj53 says:

In response to Vinny Licitra (there’s no reply button for some reason)
First, thanks for listing scriptures to compare, iron sharpens iron when we learn from the word.
Second, this is just an observation, but notice that your argument only involves arguments found from Paul. Paul actually makes up under 5% of the entire Word of God and yet people base their entire theology on what he said. Especially since there are many many scriptures that tend to contradict the scriptures you have laid out written by Paul, but I will go through that for you. My point is, if Paul contradicts 95% of scripture than maybe we should take another look at Paul and maybe Paul is saying something different than the way we have interpreted it. I believe in the common thread of scripture, several threads telling the same story throughout history. Abraham walked within these threads, Moses, David and all the way up to Jesus. Its startling to say the least that based on 5% of the Bible (and thats not even accurate itself because Paul only deals with these issues sometimes so more like 2%) has changed the way God dictated how he wanted people to live into something that looks completely contrary to the Bible.
    Scripture Comparisons:
Genesis 15:6 “6And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness.”
Romans 14:1-3 “1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3 Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him.”
Romans 14:13 “13Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.”
Faith is where we all begin such as the case with Abraham. Abraham had faith and then the covenant was made with him to outwardly show that faith. Later on his descendants were given the Torah to show how that covenant plays out in a community, how they are to act towards God and towards one another. Let us not forget that God himself gave the Torah to Moses, Moses didn’t come up with this stuff, God gave him the instructions on how to become the type of people that he desired. Now moving into the Pauline scriptures, you will notice that in verse two the quarrel is over whether or not to eat meat, in a Jewish context which this setting is Jewish these are Jewish people in a predominant Jewish setting, the argument is not about clean or unclean meat the argument is about whether or not you should be a vegetarian. Apparently, as many discussions happen in these days some people thought it best to go back to the time of the Garden and get all the way back to what God originally intended which was to eat from every fruit and seed of the trees and the Earth not eating animals. So the discussion going on in 14 is as such, if your brother wants to be a vegetarian let him, if your other brother wants to eat meat (in this case in a Jewish context it being clean meat, but he did not have to specify because obviously he meant clean meat) do not argue or cause strife with one another.
Galatians 3:21-24 “21Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law. 22 But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. 24 So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.”
This is a perfect example of Jeremiah 31:33 “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” Meaning the “law” (and let me just say right here that translating Torah as Law is a bad translation of what the true meaning of the word is, it means “teaching” or “instruction”) the “teachings’ themselves do not bring forth life except when done by faith through faith with the spirit enlightening the scriptures and filling our lives and hearts with the new covenant. Right there in 24 it says that the “law” was the guardian until Christ came so that the people would understand holiness and then when faith in Christ came there motivation to do holiness would be based in faith and love not tradition and ritual. God’s teachings are God’s teachings, but how you obey his teachings is what pleases or displeases him.
Romans 6:14 “For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.”
Here in Romans you find that Paul is using the term law or the Greek word nomos very lightly, he actually lists six throughout Romans
The Law of God: (Rom. 3:31; 7:22-25; 8:7)
The Law of Sin: (Rom. 7:23-25)
The Law of Sin and Death: Rom. 8:2)
The Law of the Spirit of Life: (Rom. 82)
The Law of Faith: (Rom. 2:27)
The Law of Righteousness: (Rom. 9:31)
Every time he uses the word Law in these instances it is not in reference to “Torah” it is in reference to the attached terminology he is trying to apply to it. I’m not going to list Romans 6:1-14, but go back and read it and try to take off your normal traditional hermeneutic glasses and read these verses with a different perspective. Paul is saying that you are no longer under the Law of Sin because Romans 6:10For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. you no longer have to be bound to sin you can be free in Christ to live a life holy and faithful to the Father.
Galatians 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
You singled out this verse, but read the first two verses before it “16But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.” You are not under the “law of the Flesh” anymore because you are a new creation in Christ and Paul even gives you the list of things that are considered to be the “laws of the flesh’ in the very next three verses “19Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21envy,d drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Keep things in context and they make much more sense. No where in this entire passage is he referring to anything that remotely looks like the Torah.
Romans 8:2 “2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”
We have already discussed this type of verbiage from Paul and as you can see here he wanted you to know what law he was talking about the “Law of Sin and Death” not the Law of Moses or the Torah. Its not your fault that you have come to learn and understand Paul in this manner, but what I’m saying is that Paul cant be advocating for something that is in complete contradiction with the rest of scripture and Jesus himself. Therefore we really need to re-read Paul and for that matter re-read the Gospels. Its my firm belief if people would start studying Jesus more than they study Pauline theology things begin to get allot clearer, but you have to remove yourself from the way the church has predominately interpreted to Paul to begin to look at his epistles with a fresher perspective.
Romans 6:15 What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!
Makes more sense now right, if people thought there was no more sin and they were living under grace then they would live however they wanted because “hey the law of sin has been destroyed and now we are free from the repercussions of sin because of grace”, but Paul tells them this is not the case you must live Holy because you are not bound by sin anymore because your free in Christ, this has nothing to do with the Torah.
Galatians 5:14 “For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
This is a known Rabbinic quote about the Torah from Jesus’ time by Rabbi Gamaliel who in fact was Paul’s mentor, Acts 22:3 “I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated at the feet of Gamaliel according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God as all of you are this day.” Love and Faith are the two most important keys of making God happy, by loving and having faith in him and by loving one another. This is just a common teaching all throughout scripture from Deuteronomy and Leviticus to the Gospels it doesn’t mean you don’t abide by Torah. In fact let me take this second to actually define what Torah is; Torah is the revelation of God given in the first five books of the Bible, it is his revelation to us that he is our creator, that he loves us, that he is holy and cares about right conduct amongst his creation and that he wants a people who will love and follow his ways, his festivals/holidays, his Sabbaths, his teachings the way he wants it and not the way we do. The Torah is five books revealing all of these things to us why would Paul say it is now abolished and we don’t have to live under it when it isn’t just simply rules or regulations its so much more (oh and as I believe he isn’t advocating for that at all if we read him properly and within the full understanding of scripture)
Romans 8:3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
The Torah requires righteousness as he says here in verse 4, you cannot walk with the Torah in righteousness if you are living in the flesh you cannot fulfill the requirements of holiness, but only if you live by the spirit and you can only do all of this if you have the righteousness of Christ placed upon you through faith as you live out the covenant between you and Christ on a daily basis. This doesn’t mean you don’t try to live holy or righteousness, you try with the help of the Holy Spirit and what is holiness and righteousness it is defined by the Torah, without the Torah how could we know what God expects out of us, in the Torah he gives it to us in detail and then Christ lived it out to show us a living walking example.
Matthew 5:16-17 I already covered previosuly.
Colossians 2:16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.
Here’s the next verse you left out “17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.” Here’s an obvious rational perspective on these two verses to start with, if Paul says in verse 17 that they are a shadow of things to come then apparently they have importance because he expects them to continue and come to full fruition. The substance of these things are in Christ they belong to him as all things do as John tells us in John 1:1-3. Here’s another scripture that gives light on what Paul is thinking:
Isaiah 2:2It shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
    and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and all the nations shall flow to it,
3 and many peoples shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths.”
For out of Zion shall go the law,a
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
In verse 3 there that word being translated law is Torah in the Hebrew, meaning that in the last days as we see in verse 2 this is referring to, the Torah will go forth to teach Gods ways to the nations. Why because Gods ways that he gave to Moses on Mt. Sinai are still relevant to him whether we have disregarded them or not.
Here is a second perspective of interpreting Colossians 2:16, we have already discussed that just because Paul is telling people not to argue over food and drink does not mean he is nullifying the clean and unclean laws, he could very well be talking about whether someone wants to eat clean meat or not, if they want to be vegetarian or not, if they want to drin alcoholic wine or only grape juice if you make Paul say what you want him to say and have no buffer or rule to apply his words to you can make him say anything. As far as arguing the Sabbath and the Festivals and New Moons he put these together for a reason. If you study 1st century Judaism you will find that the Pharisees, Sadducee and Essenes all argued about when you should celebrate certain Festivals such as Passover or Trumpets, some chose the 13th while others chose the 14th and they argued about these things also about when to begin counting the Omer for the Feast of Pentecost and which Sabbath you choose for such things… Research on this is easy to find if you care to really understand Paul and what was going on in his day and era and why a statement like this would be relevant. He is telling the new converts who are listening to the arguments for how to keep the feasts Sabbaths and so on that you should not bicker about when to keep it, decide which one you agree with and keep it then and don’t hound your brother who keeps it the next day, but in no way would he be saying that these things are now irrelevant.
Now I have answered your compare and contrast suggestions from Paul. You may not agree with the interpretation or perspective I am giving, but the perspective I am giving falls in line with the rest of scripture and continues the common thread of scripture. The traditional way of interpreting Paul goes against the other 95% of scripture and therefore is more problematic.
Consider Peter who walked with the Lord Jesus Christ and his comments on Paul:
2 Peter 3:14Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. 15And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Peter says in verse 16 that somethings Paul speaks of are difficult to understand, if they were difficult for Peter who walked with Christ, new Paul, spoke the same language and grew up in the same culture how much harder is it for us 2000 years later. Notice the key here in verse 17 that Peter warns us about, if you know this beforehand do not get carried away with the error of LAWLESS people. Right here Peter is saying that Paul is not advocating for the abolishment of the law so don’t let anyone tell you that; you must take his words in full context of scripture and during these times the only scripture there was was the Old Testament or if you prefer the TANAK and TORAH.
    Romans 2:13
    Romans 3:27-31
    Romans 7
    1 Corinthians 7:19
    Acts 24:14
These are just some scriptures that you have to wrestle with that come from Paul that are saying the opposite of what you were trying to argue for here. So here’s my point, Paul is difficult, there is no doubt about that, but if your leaning towards understanding scripture solely based on Pauline Epistles you will falter greatly because there is a whole word of God before you and trying to interpret the whole of scripture through one persons perspective whose theology is not clearly understood and is it extremely difficult to understand is not wise. Look for what the whole of scripture is saying and then test Paul’s teachings accordingly do not try to make the rest of scripture conform to Paul because it will never work. It is irrational to interpret any book based on 5% of that book without understanding the other 95%. If the other 95% does not fully agree with the 5% and the 95% is in complete agreement with itself then there is something wrong with the 5% or in this case at least our understanding and interpretation of the 5%. Who is your Messiah Jesus or Paul?

    • Jesus of course. But Paul is included in the sacred scripture, yes? So John 3: 3-15 reads to the effect that we are born again and of water and spirit; that now we are renewed in spirit to resist the power of sin Rom. 6:6. Our effort here is putting ourselves before the holy Spirit beyond which we can do only what the grace of God sustains us in doing John 15:5 and Phil. 2:12,13. Our efforts are to persevere Heb. 12:14 but faith carries the day in all ways 1 Tim. 2:15. All this is further reflected upon in 2 Peter 1:5-8 so as to have us add our own meager sanctification which must be offered up as children would do in humility. So yes your words ring true yet still in the fullness of time the Lord will cleanse us all of our sins, those which remain due to our frailty, and those which we are ignorant of. ISAIAH 45:13 So why is it written in Jeremiah 45:4 while further reference is in Jeremiah 25:15-38. Because we understand ISAIAH 48 and on and on. God love you.

Good, Gentle Analysis Vinny, Is “God Love You” a quote from C.S. Lewis in the Great Divorce? hes my favorite Theologian didn’t know if you were throwing that in there!
What we are describing here in our dialogue is the difference between a Greek perspective on Scripture and a Hebraic perspective of Scripture. Greek tends to make everything urethral, spiritual, a battle of the minds per se, philosophical with an internal change that may or may not effect the outside of an individual for some time or ever. A Hebraic perspective is concrete, physical, seeing actions done as proof of what you internally believe. The difference is that the Hebraic perspective is something God established by saying I want you to do these things to show others that you are a called out people, a city on a hill, the salt of the Earth, because people can see that you are different in your Sabbaths, your Holidays/Festivals, your clothing, your speech, your food, etc… everything about the individual cries out I am other than this world; which is what God desires; a people set apart.
Unfortunately the Greek perspective has done a very very good job of assimilating the “church” into the world so that there is very little difference in appearance between the two. The church and the world wear the same type of clothing, they wear it the same type of way, they talk the same, they eat the same foods, they watch the same movies, etc… Yes, I know I am speaking in a generality, but in America it is a predominate reality. There is very little clear distinction between the worldly people in the mall and the “Christians” walking beside them.
My point is this, that the Torah was established to let the Hebrews know what type of people God wanted that would have distinct differences from the rest of society so that anyone walking down the street would know that person is other than me. Then that person may inquire about why you are different and then they may assimilate into the kingdom of God as well taking on his Sabbaths, his Feast Days, his Eating laws, all to be different than the world and more in relation to God’s desires in order to have an effect on others and to show others you can be in this world, but not of it.
That was the whole point of the calling of the Israelites, they were to be Gods ambassadors to the nations, but they messed that up. Then Jesus comes to be our sacrifice for Sin and also to show us how and why we should follow the commandments and with the proper motivation which is pleasing to God. I’m saying that living a Torah lifestyle is all about God and not about yourself, doing what he desired, celebrating what he wants celebrated, eating the way he wants you to eat because it makes you, in the real world, different than the world standing for God as his ambassador, light and salt as he called us to be.
So when people talk about being under the law its ridiculous. People don’t say “Oh, thank God we are not under his teachings anymore” that’s ludicrous right, but if you translate Torah law then it sounds so much more justifiable. God established an entire way that he wanted people who were his children to act, look, and so on all I am advocating for is for us to turn back to God, to his teachings and instructions, to make him happy. Like Jesus said in Matthew 5:19
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Why would he say this if he didn’t expect us to continue to keep the commandments, obviously he knew people were going to try and teach others we don’t need these teachings anymore and he was warning against that. Its not a matter of salvation per se, but I believe it is a matter of standing before Christ and him saying either “Well Done Good and Faithful Servant” or just saying “Enter Into Rest”. Personally, I want him to be proud of me, that I stood up for his word, for what he taught, for his lifestyle and didn’t conform to the masses. Besides who was it that gave Moses the Torah anyways, it was Jesus, Jesus says no man has seen the Father, so obviously Moses saw Jesus. So Jesus gives Moses the Torah, the instructions and teachings on how he wants his people to live. Then Jesus comes in the Flesh and shows us how to walk it and writes it on our hearts. I don’t see how this is complicated for people to understand unless you try to argue that the law has been abolished then you have to contend with a plethora of scripture that contradicts that stance and the only argument you can use scripturally comes from Paul and that’s only if you interpret his teachings in a contradictory manner to the rest of scripture.
Its like an Atheist standing up for the belief that there is no creator, he has to disregard all the evidence that there is a creator, he has to disregard the entire existence of humanity which has believed there is a supreme being, he ultimately needs more faith to believe in the non-existence of intelligent design than to just believe in the intelligent designer. Interpreting Paul to be abolishing the Law is he equivalent of this scenario. It takes disregarding 98% of scripture, disregarding Paul’s own words in multiple epistles, and going against the common thread of scripture that teaches to love and keep God’s commandments and teachings from Torah to the Writings, to the Prophets to the Gospels to James, John and Peter, your only life line is Paul. I think I will throw my lot in with 98% of scripture!

Dear admin.. You asked a question in which I thought, I will receive a specific answer.. But it’s too general.. There must be one fact of who is Jesus actually and how can we confirm that Jesus had preached according to catholic teachings in today’s world. We have so many divisions in our own Christianity.. How can one confirm which is the true way? When we humans are dividing things according to our satisfaction, in which it happen in the Church of England.. I believe in Jesus and the father.. But I would not like ke one advising me if they themselves are lost.
    Thank you

Indeed, the initial answer is absolutely correct. MANY people don’t understand the difference between people who are of the Jewish religion and people who are of the Hebrew bloodline. Do we honestly think that Sammy Davis Jr. was of the Jewish bloodline!?!? Of course not. My mother is of Jewish ethnicity and was raised as a catholic, as was her parents and grandparents, etc. I was raised as a catholic; however, am of Jewish ethnicity and am not of the Jewish religion. So, one can be of the Jewish religion and not be of the Jewish bloodline and also, one can be of the Jewish bloodline, yet not be of the Jewish religion.

  • Gallibus says:

God promised Abraham that all the nations would be blessed by his descendants. This came true when God used the Hebrews as the starter culture to bring all of humanity into God’s kingdom. First there was one man, Abraham, then his descendants who God trained to be receptive to Him and to participate in the initial stage of His Plan of redemption – up to the Victory of God over satan in serving out the sentence of death passed on all humanity. Then He told His disciple to preach to the Jews first – that was only right and just – then they would go out and bring the whole of humanity into God’s kingdom. The first Christians were all of the Hebrew religion!
Satan evidently thought that he had eternally separated God from His children because no man was able to serve out the sentence – only a perfect human being could do that – a spotless lamb, if you want to see it like that. When Jesus said that it was impossible for man to win eternal life, as impossible as passing a camel through the eye of a needle, He meant that only He, as a perfect victim could do that and at that stage He had not yet done it.
When satan, after spitefully killing the Lord’s prophets, over-confidently killed Jesus as well, he actually co-operated in God’s Plan to redeem humanity by serving out the sentence of death Himself. That is what the VICTORY was all about! Satan’s spiteful plot to damn all of humanity with himself to hell, was defeated. The gates of heaven were once again opened to humanity and Jesus immediately after His death descended to the place of the dead where the souls of the just were ‘imprisoned’ to set them free into Heaven as the first fruits of redemption. Satan lost!
The next part of God’s plan is to woo all souls to love Him, providing knowledge and graces through His one and only Church. Make sure you join His flock and accept His gift of redemption which was gained at such a high price. Satan has not given up and continues to deceive with false religions, death and destruction of everything holy to God. Catch a wake up! Are you his dupe?
