Miracle: Deaf Girl’s Hearing Restored at Lourdes
She was born deaf. This past May 11 shortly before 20:30 she took off her prosthesis and said to her mother: “I no longer need this. I hear now.” We’re talking about a little girl who was staying with her mother, her grandmother and her brother on pilgrimage in Lourdes.
“The girl was born prematurely on December 25 of 2009. To save her, her doctors administered the drugs that damaged her hearing organs. In Gaslini Hospital of Genoa their own prostheses were used as hearing devices had no effect on her. With the help of speech therapy she learned in the course of time to read lips and speak with difficulty. Her story was told Giuseppe Secondi, the Unitalsi conductor of Milan West, who led the pilgrimage with the girl. Unitalsi is an ecclesial service, the Ambulance service operates at  Lourdes and other international as well as Italian sanctuaries.
As a gift to her family, the mother decided to make a thanksgiving pilgrimage to Our Lady at Lourdes with the children, which included her own mother.

The pilgrimage took place in the usual way. Prayer, Holy Mass, dipping into the wells. On the evening of May 11, “we returned after the conclusion of the Eucharistic procession to the hotel,” said the mother. “I was playing a bit with the kids, then I wanted to go to the meeting of the pilgrims who are first time attendees on a pilgrimage to Lourdes. When I told my daughter that I would go away but be inevitably long, she suddenly said in a clear voice, as she had never spoken before, that I should stay.”
During the meeting pilgrim pilgrimage conductor Secondi was called. He was told that the girl had taken her hearing prosthesis out and told the mother that she no longer need it, because she could now hear.
“We stood in disbelief in front of her. From an adjoining room we called her several times with a soft voice and have found that she could really hear us.  Above all, she now speaks very clearly, very different than before.”

“I thank you, dear Mother, for what you have done to me”

The next morning Secondi wanted to apply to the Bureau des Constatations Medicales to report the case. Previously, he had accompanied the girl to the grotto. While they were there, he said to the child: “Let’s go to my Madonna, mine has a crown on her head.”  So we went to the great Lady of Lourdes, crowned statue of Our Lady. As we stood in front of her, the girl said to my astonishment: “I thank you, dear Mother, for what you have done to me.”
Then we went to the Bureau des Constatations Medicales. In the waiting room there was a stylized representation of Marie. The girl said: “this is ugly.”  When we came into the doctor’s room, a picture of the Blessed Mother crowned was hung: “This is the Madonna,” she said with satisfaction.
The doctors examined her in detail, then the mother. They performed listening tests. Investigations have since continued in Italy and are still underway. Doctors in Genoa have presented to their astonishment, a cure of the hearing organs. There was also a change in character that took place. The previously very closed, introverted, girl has now become wholly different.
In Lourdes one proceeds with caution and accurate investigations are necessary before a miracle is recognized. The surveys will therefore take some time to complete. The girl and the family are certainly happy and grateful.

  1. We thank God even if it is remission it can only be through the grace of God. Thank you dear Mother you keep your promise that you don’t deny anyone who seek your intercession.

I am not one who expects, nor judges, the unexplained happenings that occur in life, but when visiting Lourdes back in 2013, I was suffering from carpal tunnel numbness in both hands and had to use wrist braces to deal with it while sleeping nightly. On a whim, I did wash both wrists in the holy waters of Lourdes and my numbness cleared up roughly 90%… such that I didn’t have to wear the braces again! My guess is that it was a case of ‘mind over matter’… but my mom would have told me that it was a message from the BLESSED MOTHER …at the very least! You decide… but it was a blessing in disguise, regardless!

Hail Mary full of grace!!.. all nations call you blessed for you are the mother of God and mother of all Nations …what wouldn’t a mother do for her children.. .leave us not ever dear loving mother always intercede for us.. .be blessed forever above all other creatures and for your marvelous works mother.. .bring us closer to your son every day!

    Thank you for hearing our pleas for Kingston. He is your miracle. We need his speech, hearing and brain trauma to be miraculously healed. His care giver inflicted evil on this child of God. We thank you in advance for the continued miraculous healing.

  14. Because of their faith of the family specially the deaf girl to The Blessed Mary Mother of God, she recieved the miracle of hearing again. I always believe the power of Faith in God and His Mother.

  20. Our Lady of Lourdes, please hear and answer my prayers for son Weewin so that he can hear also like the miracle you have given to this deaf girl. I believe in your love for us. Have mercy on my son. We cannot to Lourdes to visit you but at least let my prayers reach you. Amen.

    2. LoL – Remission from permanent hearing loss? She never had hearing, unlike someone who was healthy, got cancer or some other disease, and then went into remission.

      Come up with a better (or more negative) skeptical argument…or face the facts.

    1. This article is from a person who doesn’t know God, only his expectations of what a god should be like, so it makes the article seem like gibberish. Catholics are always excited about science confirming a miracle, never met one that didn’t get excited about the scientific investigation that follows an official miracle of the Church. I’ve only found fundamentalists type Christians who were insecure about this sort of thing. The science is personally my favorite part cuz reason compliments faith and allows it to grow. Also this article going into God not listening to other prayers and healing other people who prayed for their granny just as much … that’s absurd. If the author had studied up any, he would know that ain’t how the Hebrew/Christian God works. If that were the case, everyone Jesus came into contact with woulda been healed, but not all of them were. God guides our journey if we let him and sometimes that journey involves sorrow. God doesn’t promise happiness down here. Only when we are finally in His glory will we know pure joy.

    3. No, even if her organs naturally cured on their own, she would not have been able to speak clearly and she would not have been able to understand spoken language spontaneously. These are learned as a person grows. I know. I have multiple deaf cousins, and deaf aunts and uncles. My one cousin that I was particularly close to had a small amount of hearing. Her parents (both deaf) did not want her to be a hearing child, so refused to get her hearing aids. When she was 15, I found an old hearing aid, had it repaired and gave it to her. She enjoyed it, but I had to teach her how words sound so she could recognize the sounds AS WORDS. This was not an easy task. If the little girl in this story was profoundly deaf, she would not be able to recognize words spoken in another room where she couldn’t lipread, nor would she spontaneously have clear speech.
