Pope Francis Forms a New Department governing Laity, family and Life issues

Pope Francis has finally streamlined laity, family and life issues into one particular office Roman Curia, as a count to his Curia reformation. He made the announcement during the evening session of the Synod meeting, 22nd of October, 2015.

 “I have decided to establish a new Dicastery with competency for Laity, Family and Life, that will replace the Pontifical Council for the Laity and the Pontifical Council for the Family,”

said Pope Francis according to a communique from the Holy See press office.
Pope Francis added saying:

“To this end, I have constituted a special commission that will prepare a text delineating canonically the competencies of the new Dicastery. The text will be presented for discussion to the Council of Cardinals at their next meeting in December.”

The new office’s status, leadership and category (as to fall under a council or congregation) are all yet to be determined till December, at the Cardinals’ Council Meeting.
This decision of the Pope have long been awaited for shorly after his election as the Bishop of Rome, March 2013
