Pope Francis named "Charlemagne Prize Winner"

Pope Francis has been selected as the Charlemagne Annual award winner for 2016 for bringing “a message of hope and encouragement” to Europe in a time of uncertainty.
The same award was received by St. Pope John Paul II in 2004.
The “Charlemagne Prize, awarded annually since 1950 by donors in Aachen, Germany, is given for “distinguished service on behalf of European unification.
