Pope Francis the early hours of the morning (during the morning prayer hours of the muslims) visited the Grand Mosque of Koudoukou in Bangui popularly known as PK5, a very dangerous area for any Christian to be found in Central Africa.
The visit is part of the message of peace and reconciliation that Pope Francis has brought to Central African Republic, where extreme violence have eaten deep since two years ago.
Pope Francis insisted on coming to the neighbourhood to meet with the muslims in their worship place to appeal for peace despite the security concerns. although it is reported that over 122, 000 muslims have fled the city leaving about 15, 000 in the area.
The Holy Father was welcomed to the mosque by the Grand Imam Nehedi Tidjani, along with four other Imam, who accompanied him to the podium.
