PRAYER FOR THIS MORNING (THURSDAY, JUNE 25)

Prayer for the Morning

Lift up your hearts!

Let us lift them up to the Lord!

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,

is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia!

HYMN

Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy,

Whose trust, ever child-like, no cares can destroy,

Be there at our waking, and give us, we pray,

Your bliss in our hearts, Lord,

at the break of the day.

Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith,

Whose strong hands were skilled

at the plane and the lathe,

Be there at our labors, and give us, we pray,

Your strength in our hearts, Lord,

at the noon of the day.

PSALM  25:1-7

Let the Lord, your God, show us what way we should take and what we should do. (Jer 42:3)
Let us put into God’s hands our heart, our soul, the deep recesses of our being wherein dwell those beliefs and thoughts that govern our actions, so that he may guide us in the ways of the Gospel.

To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

I trust you, let me not be disappointed;

do not let my enemies triumph.

Those who hope in you shall not be disappointed,

but only those who wantonly break faith.

Lord, make me know your ways.

Lord, teach me your paths.

Make me walk in your truth, and teach me:

for you are God my savior.

In you I hope all day long

because of your goodness, O Lord.

Remember your mercy, Lord,

and the love you have shown from of old.

Do not remember the sins of my youth.

In your love remember me.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God (Isaiah 42:16)

I will lead the blind on their journey;/ by paths unknown I will guide them./ I will turn darkness into light before them,/ and make crooked ways straight./ These things I do for them,/ and I will not forsake them.

Let us search and examine our ways/

that we may return to the Lord! (Lam 3:40)

CANTICLE OF ZECHARIAH

In all your ways be mindful of him,/ and he will make straight your paths. (Prv 3:6)

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;

he has come to his people and set them free.

He has raised up for us a mighty savior,

born of the house of his servant David.

Through his holy prophets he promised of old

that he would save us from our enemies,

from the hands of all who hate us.

He promised to show mercy to our fathers

and to remember his holy covenant.

This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham:

to set us free from the hands of our enemies,

free to worship him without fear,

holy and righteous in his sight

all the days of our life.

You, my child, shall be called the prophet

of the Most High;

for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,

to give his people knowledge of salvation

by the forgiveness of their sins.

In the tender compassion of our God

the dawn from on high shall break upon us,

to shine on those who dwell in darkness

and the shadow of death,

and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to the Father…

INTERCESSIONS

We trust in God; he will not disappoint us. Let us lift up to him our prayers, saying:

R/Lord, make us know your ways.

For those who have been disappointed by their loved ones:

– fill them with hope in you. R/

For those who seek the truth:

– guide them to the fullness of faith in you. R/

For the aging:

– keep them always in your love. R/

(Personal intentions)

Our Father….

O God our Father, you sent your only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to be our way, our truth, and our life. At this morning hour, we lift our hearts to you in prayer and ask that you guide us through this day according to your will, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
