REAL-LIFE GUARDIAN ANGELS: Community shares personal stories of angelic encounters

Guardian angels exist. They are mentioned in the Bible and several people have had amazing encounters with the divine beings.

One online community came together to share how guardian angels saved their lives or kept them from severe, life-altering situations.

Across several Reddit threads, several users offered their personal experiences, which resulted in others commenting theirs as well.

User lightenergy shared: “When I was in my 20s, I spent 4 years traveling the world. I was in South Africa, just outside Durban, and a friend had taken me on his motorbike to his favourite waterfall.

“We had both been swimming, but I got cold, so I went to sit on a patch of green grass. To get there, I had to step from the sand I was on, over a log then across a bit to the grass.

“I was walking medium speed, and lifted one foot to step over the log when a VERY loud booming masculine voice shouted “STOP.” Except the shout wasn’t heard with my ears, it was INSIDE my head.

“Hard to explain. Also, there was nobody else around except Tim and I, and he was still happily swimming. I stopped, wondering what had just happened. I still had my foot in the air above the log.

“I looked around, and spotted what I thought was a leaf waving about 6 inches from my big toe. It took me a few seconds to realise that it wasn’t a leaf, but a snake. A Black Mamba.

“He had his head raised, and was licking the air right near my toe. He was waiting to see what my next move was to be, and he had seen me long before I saw him. I slowly backed up and walked very carefully backward to where Tim was.

“I have no explanation [for] the voice that I heard, except that it was so loud and was inside my head rather than heard with my ears, and it came at a time when I didn’t feel in any danger at all – in fact, I was very calm and happy. I feel that it was my guardian angel who shouted at me to stop, as I would have stepped right on the snake. My guardian angel saved my life.”

Guardian angels interact with people all the time – whether their voices stop us from taking another step or they physically appear to us.

Reddit user babylima shared: “A few months after my best friend overdosed on oxycontin, I put myself in a psych ward since I wasn’t taking it too well. I remember one night was especially bad and I couldn’t relax. My doctors ave me an Ativan and let me lay down.

“About 30 minutes later, an African-American nurse with her hair wrapped up, named Angela (being totally serious) came in, asked if I was okay and then started praying with me. She held my hand and we said the Lord’s Prayer until I fell asleep.

“The next morning I went to the nurse’s station to thank her, and the nurses there said there was nobody there by that name or anyone who fit the description. It was crazy.”

Sometimes, our guardian angels don’t even interact with us, but we still benefit from their divine interventions.

One user, lightstep, wrote: “A friend of mine told be about an experience his grandmother had when she was home alone once, in the middle of the day someone knocked on her door and when she went to answer it she was greeted by a man with [a] knife ready to kill her and loot the place, but when he saw her, he went pale and ran, he was later caught and questioned about why he ran, and his response was “when the door opened I saw two large and strong men standing behind her” and to this day my friend swears that it must have been two angels sent to protect her.”

Psalm 91:11 tells us, “he has given his angels orders about you to guard you wherever you go. They will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone. You will walk upon wild beast and adder, you will trample young lions and snakes.”

The Bible is clear: We are God’s beloved children and we are protected by his powerful angels.

We’re supposed to interact with God who dispatches the angels on our behalf. We don’t interact with them directly unless they are there to interact with us. When we remove our attention from God and direct it to His angelic creation, we lessen God’s use of His angels on our behalf.

This article offers no proof, or even objective evidence, that angels exist. Everything presented here is completely subjective – the product of fallible brains. The bible is not evidence, the bible is the claim.
    .
Regarding the black mamba snake – if a guardian angel can manipulate matter in this physical matter reality (PMR), by exciting electrons in our brains so that we can “hear” voices, then why can’t the guardian angel just move the snake?
    .
How many of us, while driving, have started to drift off or doze for just a moment, when a part of our brain shakes us back into full awareness? What this story tells us, is that our brains are more aware than we sometimes think they are.
    .
If the snake had bitten and killed “lightenergy” would anyone have blamed his/her guardian angel for not doing its job? Why do guardian angels and gods get credit when things go right, but never get blame when things go wrong?
    .
Another person recounts her dream. I have had many amazing dreams, so have we all. Does that make them true?
    .
The thief who suddenly grew a conscience surely manifested his vision out of his memories, emotions, fears and guilt. Our brains do things like this from time to time. We see a shadow on the window blind and can tell without a moment’s doubt that it is a person peering in at us, but then it turns out to be a branch on the tree outside. I recently stared out into my garden, absolutely convinced that a small wildcat was in the garden. It turned out to be a clump of leaves – but I’d have sworn it was an animal. Our brains trick us all the time. We can’t trust our brains. Our brains don’t like ignorance, so they fill in the pattern with information that is frequently incorrect. Watch the show “Brain Games” to learn a little about how your own brain works, and how little you can actually trust it.

Psalm 91 has some interesting parts, including the idea that the righteous will “see the punishment of the wicked” with their own eyes. I guess that means that when we are in heaven, we will be forced to watch the eternal torment of those who failed to believe, say and do the right things as dictated by the Church. That, for me, would be Hell; how about you? Would you love to watch people who failed to believe what you believe, roasting on the spit for trillions of years? What if these suffering people were your family and friends who fell away from the faith – and for no other reason, spend eternity in torment? Wouldn’t that be fun to watch? Psalm 91 goes on to say that the Lord will give you his guardian angels if you love him. Does that mean that those whose guardian angels fail to protect them from the wild beast, adder, lions, snakes and oncoming drunk drivers, don’t love the Lord?
    .
Clearly these angels are not very reliable, and it’s best not to count on them being there when you need them. What of the guardian angels responsible for the young children who will die before I finish typing this because their mom was forced, under penalty of eternal torment if she used contraception, to have children she could not care for? Where is the angel for those poor kids, and for that poor mom?

    Wake up, people. It’s 2016, not 1620.

We do not believe in your intelligence.. because we have not seen it….and note that intelligence is just a state…
We believe in Angels because we have seen them…you will come to believe them in the right time…
      May God Bless YOU…

Dear Patrick, you really need to wake up. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He gave His only Son to save us, and His angels to watch over us because His Love is infinite. If you do not believe God’s Love and Existence, then watch a true life story/movie about “The Exorcism of Emilly Rose” and find reason to believe in God.

Its so sad that you choose not to believe, you loose out on the beauty of having a more peaceful and meangful life experience, it says in the Bible itself you may have all of the knowledge of this world but if you do not have God it is worth nothing… I will pray for you…That God will touch your heart

You need God intervention and forgiveness for doubting his omnipresence nd all knowing.
If God always pamper nd protect us den wud we achnoledge and appreciate him? My dear u should know that we are the ones who have wronged God with sins and instead of going back we run away. Yet he s still where we left him waiting for us to realise and com back. Make ur ways pure and u see his wonders

I was 12 or 13 years old when when I was nearing a double track railway crossing. It was dusk and I could see the light of an approaching train. As the crossing gates dropped I was confident I could make it across with lots of time to spare. I began to enter the crossing. Just then someone grabbed me by the shoulder and yanked me back hard and within seconds a freighter passed in front of me. I turned to thank the individual who stopped me and there was no one there… anywhere. I was completely alone. Call me crazy but, I believe.

This is one of the earliest examples how God has intervened in my life. Right now as I battle terminal cancer, Gods present in my life is strong and evident. Too bad Patric Gannon that you don’t have something better to do than to try to dissuade believers. I see your replies all over the place and the faithful should just excuse your ignorance and refusal to accept God’s word.

Thank you for sharing.. I have had miracles worked in my life and do believe in God, it’s too bad that people like this try to disuede others from believing, we’d have a much safer and hppier world if more people were to believe…

Patrick the fact that you don’t believe in God and His angels doesn’t reduce God’s standard in any way. It’ll do you a whole lot of good to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. God is real, Jesus is real, the Holy Spirit is real, and even the angels are real. So take it or leave it
