The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches as the Bible does that after death comes judgement. When the physical body dies, the soul (which is immortal) is separated from the body and comes before the Lord for what is known as “Particular Judgement” i.e. the judgement of the individual soul. Shortly after, the soul begins to receive its reward either in hell or in heaven (could pass through purgatory first). There are indeed two and only two eternal destinations: Heaven and Hell.

Purgatory is a temporary place where souls, who still have not fully atoned for their sins pass through. Let it be known that the Church teaches that the souls admitted in purgatory are those who on earth have already been forgiven, not unrepentant souls.

Each man receives his eternal retribution in his immortal soul at the very moment of his death, in a particular judgment that refers his life to Christ: either entrance into the blessedness of heaven—through a purification or immediately—or immediate and everlasting damnation. (CCC 1022)

The General/Final Judgement:

This is when the Lord shall separate the “sheep from the goats”. All those in heaven and hell will be reunited with their bodies and shall appear before the Lord who shall come to the world the second time, this time to bring a final end to evil and perfect all of creation.

The resurrection of all the dead, “of both the just and the unjust,”623 will precede the Last Judgment. This will be “the hour when all who are in the tombs will hear [the Son of man’s] voice and come forth, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.”624 Then Christ will come “in his glory, and all the angels with him. . . . Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left. . . . And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” CCC 1038

In the presence of Christ, who is Truth itself, the truth of each man’s relationship with God will be laid bare. The Last Judgment will reveal even to its furthest consequences the good each person has done or failed to do during his earthly life . . .

The Last Judgment will come when Christ returns in glory. Only the Father knows the day and the hour; only he determines the moment of its coming. Then through his Son Jesus Christ he will pronounce the final word on all history. We shall know the ultimate meaning of the whole work of creation and of the entire economy of salvation and understand the marvelous ways by which his Providence led everything towards its final end. The Last Judgment will reveal that God’s justice triumphs over all the injustices committed by his creatures and that God’s love is stronger than death. (CCC 1039-1040)

Dear Monica, you cannot not know exactly, however, you are meant to remain close to the Sacraments. Receive pardon and receive Jesus in the Eucharist often. This way you can depend solely on his mercy and safely hope for a place in his kingdom which i assure you will be yours if you can simply open up and let Christ in more and more. I promise to keep you in prayer.. God bless and keep you

      • Since you trust and love Jesus, I hope it means you do not call on saints in your prayers, please read Ephesians 1:11 to 14. This verse when taken seriously makes you sealed by God to be his own and the Holy Spirit will be made to dwell in you to guide you not able to commit sin that can kill your Soul. This holy spirit given by God the Father will stay with you until death or till Jesus will come in the clouds to gather the dead and living who trusted in Him, please read 1 Thessalonians 4:13 to 18. How will you know you are surely going to heaven, read this verse, 1 John 3:2 to.3. So when Jesus will show up in the clouds then that’s the time we will be made PERFECT. We will be with Him wherever He may be forever. Right after when Jesus comes in the clouds to gather His believers or the CHURCH bad things will happen to people on earth. More than half of population will perish in 7 years time. THEN…..Jesus will come, this time all inhabitant on earth will see Him and they will mourn and hide from His shining face because He comes to Judge all who rejected Jesus as Mediator and Savior. When a believer or one who truly trusted Jesus dies, is right away carried by angels to Paradise, the intermediate Heaven. There you will be aware of the start to divine joy forever with God. How did I know this, during the Crucifixion, remember what Jesus said to repentant person. Right now I will bring you to Paradise.

Heyyy-WAIT a minute: If this dear lady is a Catholic, like most on this board, I’m sure she DOES call on saints in her prayers, & GOOD for her! She is facing the Lord soon, so we should be careful & sensitive how we reply to her & that we share ROMAN CATHOLIC teaching & not unapproved, non-Catholic teachings. This is not a fundamentalist non-Catholic board. There are worlds of them.. Hmmm… Do you ask your friends to pray for you? Then why not ask those who are already up there with God to pray for you! It’s been the norm for 2,000 years. It is not worship of them! – It’s friendship, & honor. The saints indeed ENCOURAGE us to ask their intercession.( Read CATHOLIC teaching,33 A.D.- not A.D. The 700 Club lol) You seem to also be preaching the idea of the ‘Rapture’, another non-Catholic belief… You need to attend RCIA & or read Catholic books–even’ Catholicism for Dummies’! In short, I suggest you sit at Jesus feet like Mary, instead of going around answering questions like a busy Martha. Try reading & studying the articles on this board, watch EWTN (Fr. Andrew Apostoli is amazing!). Instead of replying to questions, ASK them. ~ Blessings.

As for my responses on this site, I have responded with what the Bible has to say. She needs to know what the Bible has to say so that she will be in Heaven for eternity.

          • Hermit Green says:

Susan, I agree with you when you say “She is facing the Lord soon, so we should be careful & sensitive how we reply to her”. So should we tell her what your particular church says, or what the Bible says? Your church says that as she faces her death, she cannot know what lies ahead for her. She may go to Heaven, or to Hell, or to Purgatory. Both Hell and Purgatory are places of torment. The Bible says that we can know, now, where we will go for eternity. It says that she doesn’t have to atone for her sins while in this life, but that Christ has already fully atoned for all her sins (and ours), and that if she trusts in His atonement, made through His shed blood for us at Calvary, then all her sins will be forgiven, taken away, and remembered no more. Whilst it may be rude for some to speak against your church’s dogma on this site, when a lady in such circumstances asks such an important question, God requires that we speak the truth to her. I can only hope that she will choose to hear the liberating word of the Bible, rather than the bad news your church would give her.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:16-18)
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me HAS everlasting life, and SHALL NOT COME INTO JUDGEMENT, but has passed from death into life.” (John 5:24 Emphasis mine).

But through his infinite mercy as HE IS THE GOD OF MERCY He will forgive and love them again through the sacrament of penance. prayers, trust and hope, and obedience to the commandments of GOD are the evidence of our faith, or acceptance that it is true that GOD OF CREATIONS LOVE AND MERCY EXISTS, GOD IS ONLY ONE AND GOD IS IN THREE PERSONS THE FATHER THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT.

      • minus hickey says:

Hermit sir you are so right. The bible, and no other book has the power to save and it says so. Through my studies I have noticed that the book of Acts has conversion accounts listed at least SEVEN times, not to mention other new Testament books. If I wanted to truly be saved I would do just as the Apostle Paul did. I’ve noticed five steps that occur when one is saved, not all together in the same place but Paul told Timothy to ”STUDY” to show thyself approved unto God…rightly dividing the word of truth. Can anyone submit a valid argument against these simple five steps? Step 1, Hear the word. Step 2 Believe the word. Step 3, Repent of past sins. Step 4, confess the name of Jesus. Step 5 Be baptized (not sprinkled) to ”wash away your sins” (Acts:22:16) Step 6, ”Live faithful until death”. Every one of these points can be found in the new Testament. It was his final ”Will” to us. Should we not handle ”the word of truth” with care and just trust him? God bless you and i hope you find out that you can KNOW the answer to your question. Hebrews 5: 9

      • minus hickey says:

Since I cannot find anything pertaining to the word Purgatory in the bible, I joyfully trust in what Jesus said. If you do not believe the account of the rich man and Lazerus you will never understand. This place is called ”Paradise” and agree or not, it’s where we go when we die. Not heaven guys. Jesus said, ” I go to PREPAIR a place for you”. ”God knows ”how to reserve the unjust” unto the day of judgement. Jesus told the thief,’this day you will be with me in paradise and then when I leave this place, you will go on up to heaven because you are ”fully” forgiven”. Wrong! And no, Jesus did not go to Paradise and send the thief on his way to heaven after telling him where he would go. Words are important. God used ”words”, and I might add, quite simple words when it comes to important matters. Jesus taught in simple terms that could be understood by the masses. ”If we abide in the light as he is in the light we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin”. Keeps on cleansing as we ask for forgiveness. So simple, we cannot see the Forrest for the trees and it’s right there under our noises. I cannot count the warnings against false teaching in the new testament. Take away the proper names, and the average word in the bible is about 5 letters. That’s the whole bible, new and old, and it’s a fact! That should tell us something if we are truly honest with ourselves. Purgatory? The last book of Revalation should answer that. God bless and forgive us.

    • Donfrancis says:

Hello Monica, Jesus can heal you. Have faith in Him and trust in the power in the name of Jesus to receive your healing now. Please say this prayer with me: In the Name of Jesus Christ, I loose my soul, body from the this pain of cancer, I command your cancer and it cells to depart from me. For I belong to Christ and He paid the price for me on the cross, therefore am saved from this sickness, in Jesus name. Say it repeatedly the faith, the Holy Ghost will turn around your situation in the name of Jesus’. Their is no other name given among men, whereby we shall be saved, but the name of JESUS CHRIST. The devil came to steal and destroy, but the son man came that we might have life. Jesus is your deliverer. Stop thinking of death now, instead think of being healed in Jesus name. Amen.

      • Hermit Green says:

Don, I think it is unwise to tell Monica this. Jesus can heal, but He generally does not do so now. There are good biblical reasons for that. While Jesus was on earth, He was dealing almost exclusively with the Jewish people. The Jews needed signs. In doing miracles, Jesus was giving indisputable proof that He was who He said He was – the Son of God. He demonstrated that He had the authority of creation (calming the storm), over sin and death (forgiving sins, healing diseases, raising the dead). But the Jews rejected Him, nailing Him to the cross. After his resurrection, Peter and the other disciples preached about Jesus on the day of Penticost, but again the Jewish people largely rejected Him (though many were saved). God then put the Israelites aside, converted Paul, and sent him to the Gentiles (non-Jews). And now he did not do miracles very much, because God requires people to come to Him by faith, believing Him even though He has not displayed His power and authority by miracles. And Gentiles have come to God through Christ, by faith alone, in their millions. This is a stark rebuke to the Jews, who had all the miracles but did not believe. Therefore, in this “Day of Grace”, man must come by faith alone without miracles. I do not say that God never does miracles now, but by and large He does not. We live in a world corrupted by sin. Even our own bodies are corrupted by sin, and God will not change that until He gives us new bodies, untainted by sin, in a coming day. And I’m afraid the evidence is overwhelming, Christians get sick and die just like non-Christians. It is foolishness to claim miracles where medical science will not confirm them. It disappoints believers, and it gives ammunition to the atheists and anti-theists.

    • swordspider says:

Hi mam Monica, sorry for your situation now God bless you, to answer your question is really simple and easy to understand. accept God our Father Jesus Christ is our Lord, and take the helmet of salvation. This will become your shield, you will become strong even the worse situation that you have now. Accepting salvation is a Love of God and it will start in you…

    • Jane says:

Monica, I will say a prayer for you for healing. You mention that you believe, trust and love Jesus and are worried about what you have done in your past. In the Bible, Romans 10:9-10 we are told that “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.” It is a conversation that you can have with God yourself and pray to ask God for forgiveness, pray to repent and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior turning your life over to Him. When you do this and invite God into your heart, God washes your sins away and cleanses your soul white as snow and you go to Heaven to spend eternity with God. If you do not believe in and accept Jesus as your savior, you will go to Hell. Your salvation is not based on what you have done in your past. If that was the case, no one would get in to Heaven as we all fall short every day, even when we are trying to walk in obedience to Christ we are going to fail sometimes.

    • Cindy says:

Monica, We Can Know…If you are wanting to be saved it is because the Holy Spirit has prompted you to come to The Lord Jesus! {1 John 5:9-13… 9. If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that He has borne concerning His Son. 10. Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning His Son. (→)11. And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
      {{{{That You May Know}}}}
      13. I write these things to you who believe in the Name of the Son of God THAT YOU MAY KNOW that you have eternal life.}
Paul & Silas were in prison. There was an earthquake & it terrified the guard because it opened the prisoners doors. He was so terrified that he was considering suicide.→ {Acts 16:28-29… 28. But Paul cried with a loud voice, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.” 29. And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”}….{Romans 10:6-13.. 6. But the righteousness based on faith says, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) 7. “or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8. But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9. because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in Him will not be put to shame.” 12. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on Him. 13. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord WILL BE SAVED.”} (emphasis added) So, Monica call on Him, I pray you do because He is waiting for you to trust Him today! In His love, Cindy

    • Ricardo T. Brillantes says:

Hi Monica, God’s work and purpose is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. God loves all His children that he give his only begotten son Jesus Christ to atone for our sins so we can return back to His presence. The atonement provide us two (2) precious gifts: the gift of resurrection or immortality and the gift of eternal life. The former is given unconditionally to all his children irrespective whether they are good or bad. The latter is conditional. You have to have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, accept Him as your Savior and obey the commandments. You have to repent of your sins with a broken heart and contrite spirit to be forgiven, be baptized, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. This is the gospel of Jesus Christ or the plan of salvation. As you make covenant with God in the water of baptism you are committed to keep upon yourself the name of Jesus Christ, always remember Him, keep the commandments and endure to the end. Every Sunday as you take the communion, you renew your covenant with God. The Lord will judge you in accordance to your faith and the desires of your heart. Through His grace and mercy, you will be with Him in paradise to rest in peace and wait for the of resurrection.

        • Carleton says:

When I was a fifth grader at St. Thomas the Apostle School in San Francisco, Sister Raymond Mary taught us that “Hell is eternal separation from God.” I often wondered since what the point was in being flogged/burned/whatever for all eternity – what would it prove, what good would it do? Much later a priest and I were talking and he said his belief was that if you were saved, you had an afterlife, and it was in heaven, that is, your soul would live forever with God. But if you had been really rotten and had rejected God, your soul, upon death, simply ceased to exist. In other words, you didn’t get an afterlife. That would seem to bring about what Sister said: eternal separation from God. I don’t know what it would be like in heaven, knowing that others were being tortured far longer than their life on Earth had been.

Those in Heaven are not really “Judged” ? What about the souls in hell? They are not judged too? If so, there is no judgement after the death. All souls need to wait for final judgement. no where its says, souls in hell reunited with body and judged and put back again in hell. On final day all souls reunited with their bodies and will be judged, only once. Souls saved with Christ will reunited with their glorified bodies and have eternal life in new world. Others will not live any more(Second death fire of hell). At last, Heaven will come to earth, God will reside with men again as the day of Adam and eve. God will restore his creation to the beginning as his will. That’s why Jesus asked us to pray to God, Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. • 21 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife.
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
      11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
      19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

In the final judgement, how can a soul reunite with its body if the body has been cremated?

  • Er says:

Nothing in the Bible that says there’s purgatory. God’s judgment is final whether it be heaven or hell.
And saying that you cannot know and be sure if you are going to heaven when you die? Where’s the faith there? To what cause did Christ die on the cross?

    • PrinceDonald says:

      • Josh says:

“Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling”. Care to elaborate? I see no mention of a purgatory there, and no way that can be misunderstood to say such a thing. But please do explain, I’d love to hear what you think!
The bible clearly states that if you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you WILL go to heaven. My understanding is that a belief in purgatory is like saying that Jesus’ salvation isn’t good enough, and you need a little more punishment in purgatory to be able to get to Heaven. The fact is that Jesus has already taken the ultimate punishment for us, and no purgatory is needed if we trust in him. In the same way, if you try to use works to make your way into heaven, that is saying that Jesus’ salvation isn’t good enough, and you need to do a little bit more to be seen as good in God’s eyes. If we trust in Jesus, we are already perfect in God’s eyes. I am righteous, but I don’t get my righteousness from myself, I don’t get it from the good things I do, I don’t lose it when I do bad things, I get 100% of it from Jesus, who has paid the price for my sins, and because of that, I’m going straight to heaven.

        • Jim says:

Josh said “My understanding is that a belief in purgatory is like saying that Jesus’ salvation isn’t good enough, and you need a little more punishment in purgatory to be able to get to Heaven.”
Your “understanding” is flawed. Purgatory is a very simple concept, and it must exist or else we are ALL in huge eternal trouble. The Bible is CLEAR: “Nothing impure shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” So if you die with the stain of one sin on your soul, even though you believed completely in Jesus, you’re going to hell, right? The BIBLE already established that you are impure (“for all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God”), so you aren’t going to Heaven. Without Purgatory, we’re doomed!
Now that the need for purgatory has been established, what exactly is it like? We don’t know, and there is no universal agreement on it’s nature. Some have said you go there for a long time and suffer. Others have said that purgatory is simply the grace of Jesus cleansing you of whatever sins are on your soul so you are worthy of Heaven, and it might be practically instantaneous to the point that you don’t even realize you were there. But regardless of what you believe about the nature of purgatory, realize that a final purification of the soul must take place before you are worthy to spend forever with God.
This isn’t the middle ages anymore. The Catholic Church does not teach that one can purchase indulgences to spring our friends from Purgatory. Martin Luther believed that the teaching of this concept back in the day was poppycock, and today’s Catholic Church agrees with what he said. The Reformation came about because of a false movement in the Catholic Church 300+ years ago, what Luther said in the 95 Theses wouldn’t even be recognizable in today’s Church, for he was protesting something that isn’t happening today.
Purgatory is ONLY for those who believed in Jesus while alive. It’s not a second chance for anybody who didn’t believe; those souls are sent straight to hell. Everybody in Purgatory is Heaven-bound once the last stains of sin are washed away by the saving power of Jesus, BECAUSE they believed in and followed Christ.
I know many people use the thief on the cross story (when Jesus said “this day you will be with me in Paradise”) as proof against Purgatory. However, it’s not. The thief on the cross confessed his sins and received Jesus’ forgiveness minutes before dying. Of course he went straight to Heaven, Jesus forgave him and he did not sin again. Are you and I guaranteed the opportunity to confess and be FULLY AND COMPLETELY forgiven immediately before death? No, we are not.

          • Josh says:

You’re absolutely right, the bible says that nothing impure shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven. But having faith in Jesus, accepting him as the Son of God and as your saviour makes you completely pure. I am 100% righteous in the eyes of God, and I can be sure of that because of Jesus. I am not righteous because of what I have done (if it were down to that, I’d be going straight to hell, as would everyone!), but because of what Jesus has done. I have not created my own righteousness, Jesus has given me his. Romans 3:22 ” This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe”. I believe in Jesus, I believe he’s the Son of God, therefore he has given me his righteousness. 23 says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”, backing up your point that we are all sinners, and 24 says “and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus”. Freely, meaning instantly, without price.

    • Lea Leger says:

yes, we can not be sure if we go to heaven when we die because we are all sinners and we are not perfect. but if you confess your sins and repent before you die , you will go to heaven because you are free from sin when you die. Thats why the Church always advice us to go for confession/reconciliation in case we die, we are free from sin. but when we die and we dont repent we cant go to Heaven, we either go to hell or purgatory.

      • I am sure and fully understand that this is the best answer about heaven, hell, and purgatory. This is the simplest and most accurate
analogy of the whole subject matter. An ordinary man can fully relate to this simple but complete explanation. No more no less.
You cannot judge a man. If you don`t forgive, God can`t forgive you either! Remember, to pray for your enemy. Amen

But FAITH, is the real test my dear.. having faith, and it seems you do from what i read, but those closer to God, Jesus, and Mary, are more tempted then others. Cause our prayers are heard from God and demons.

    • Allan Ecleo says:

It’s sometimes natural that one’s faith weakens brought by personal struggles that we’re undergoing (social, psychological, financial, spiritual, and relational). In my personal experience when I reach that point, I try to compel myself to go back to where I stopped and start from there again, otherwise if I would allow myself to be carried away by any weak-point, wrong addiction would certainly conquer my being which gradually becomes a lifestyle. Everything in this earth is addictive whether it’s financial, social, spiritual, relational or psychological. So I’d rather go back to spiritual addiction again which strengthens me as a person than WORLD addiction which weakens my faith.

    • John Schuck says:

God allows suffering, and His mother ” Mary , the mother of God is with you, you are not alone when you are enduring your suffering, be strong and have faith, ask and confide in Jesus, be humble before God, without complaint, for he is with you in your anguish. You mush havae faith hun, read books from St. Padre Pio, he died in 1987, and was made saint in 2001, he had the stigmata, the crusfixiaion woulds of Jesus christ. He had been given gifts. Keep praying the rosary, your feeling of despair and hopeless is from demons, trying to convince you to loose your faith , but don’t give in… we are temepted , a quote from the vatican, is that fallan angels who are now demons, influence and enter our mind to tempt us, sometimes bad dreams, but never forget, about Jesus’s infinite compassion and love for us., he and his mother are with you my dear… have faith darling, as St. Catherine said, or some other female catholic saint, ” There is no Fear in love” but when you pray, pray with “humility” humble before God. When you pray, the mother and Jesus will listen, your pain and suffering is not bind to them or in heaven.

    • Edwin Zoom says:

      R. DeCarli first of all i do congratulate you for your strong faith to the lord, i admire you for your fight against the illness, you know in this life we don’t have nothing for sure we aint know when our time will come only god, jesus the lord, i dont know about the outcome of your situation but you know lots of people here and i will pray for you and other who are dealing with some serious illness, as i said before i dont know the outcome i wish the best for you; but only gods know and he has the last say…
i just want to tell you a short story about my family… my brother was 46 he passed away this year few months ago after battling with a kidney disease for some years, as family we had help as much we could, im in a foreigh country i couldn’t be close to him, we were talking about the transplant sometimes but these things aren’t easy fast and economically anyway, we didnt have enough time..his health was deteriorating too from what i heard.. one week he was working few days later he was gone.. anyway we were so sad, we cried, mi mother was inconsolable, he was cremated after few days my family went to the church’s mass for my brother and other deceased people and the thing is that we have 2 little nephews 4 and 5 years they took them to church too but no one told them about what happened to their uncle, anyway by the end of the church’s mass when the family was thanking other people for their support and ready to leave one of my litle nephew (the littlest one)call my his mother (my sister) and grandma (my mother) and he was looking straight up to the altar and he was telling them that he was looking his uncle (my brother the one who just passed away) by the altar near the virgin’s mary and the cross (you know alway is one at the center of any catholic church’s altar)my mother and sister just kept looking and looking straight to the place was empty and the boy kept looking he said his uncle was dressing in blue like the virgin’s mary dress color and he didnt say anything (my brother, his uncle) he was just looking straight the family, his mama ask him if he look or was sad but he said not, he uncle didnt look sad, only calm and peacefully looking at the family… after that the boy was tired, probable because the vision and then the family left the church… for what i know its a saying that the children are the one who can see supernaturals of out the comprehension things if we can call them like that, i couldn’t go to the mass because as i said before im in other country however i was following almost everyday the events that day mi mother and sister told me and they were kind of surprise about that particular incident, when they told me on the phone i had some tears because for my family and me this was like a message allowed from god to let us know that we shouldn’t be sad that he was ok in a better place close to god, jesus, mary in heaven, my brother he wasnt perfect but he was a good man he had to go to dialysis like 2 or 3 times a week and he was working as a dentist assistant he was a hardworking man only looking and enjoying the time with his little son but his health was getting kind of worst he had some ups and downs before he had a surgery 2 years ago for other thing so we thought this time was another one but not… he used to tell us about other people in his hospital’s group with the same problem were gone without warning too while ago, kidneys failure is like that…
i thank god, jesus and my brother for that message that make us feel better and lift some of the sadness in the family, now i see the life in a different way, no too superficial and i know that our time in this earth is only short and temporary that the real thing and the great thing are to come when we go to heaven with god, after that happened i’ve been reading some of the books about after death experiences and i like one of the sentences from someone who was with god: “I feel as though I am trying to describe a three-dimensional experience while living in a two-dimension world” (from Dr. Mary C. Neal)
i know some people wont believe but im not try to convince anyone… this is just about faith, about believe in god and for what he got for us after this earthly life..
i still remenber my brother and i will never forget about him but i know he’s in a special place, a good and a better place, happy close to jesus and i hope god’s will one day i’ll get the chance to see him and talk to him again if i keep a strong faith.
so R. DeCarli as i said before i cant see the future of your situation but i wish the good things for you but only remember one thing whatever happens and with your strong faith the outcome either way at the end will be always the best, just keep God, jesus and mary close to you

II have spent many years researching how the biblical prophets could have expanded on their visions of a heaven hereafter. Because the tabernacle was a heaven on earth for the Lord to dwell I felt this was the starting point of my research. The instructions that were given to build the tabernacle and it occurred to me that the biblical writers had given us sufficient information to create graphic images of what the heaven on earth looked like. I extended the research from there to other elements of the mysterious numerical data in the Bible in the belief that the writers may have left the details to build more graphic images of what they were describing in their visions of a heaven hereafter.
The findings were remarkable for they show the first scientific evidence that the biblical prophets were either divinely inspired or were guided by a higher form of intellect. I have written the findings in an E book and it is entitled Seventh Heaven Hereafter and you can read the Introduction on
I intend to donate the majority of the proceeds from the book to reputable third world charities for the elevation of hunger and disease. Michael

My grandfather pass away in 1985 since then my father did not visit him or even offer a prayer for him in the church. In 1992 my father went to his homeland and he together with his brother they got a get together. Suddenly the soul of my grandfather reincarnate to the body of my cousin and he starting get angry to all his children. Saying that they forget him to offer a prayer and its been a long time that he cannot pass. And hes struggling after that incident when my parents went to our home my mom went to early mass for nine days and she offered a prayer for the soul of my grandfather together with his mother. After that we recieve a lots of blessings and in 2002 my father passed away peacefully because of lung cancer. And he had a chance to ask god forgiveness for his sins. And in every sunday we have a minister from the church who came to the house to give a mass and to give a “komunyon” to my father. Because my father cannot go to church coz of his illness. where did you find in the bible about purgatory??ia this real or just a doctrine in roman catholic??

    • Lea Leger says:

You can not find Purgatory in the bible but have reference in the Bible. all who died in God’s grace but still imperfectly purified are indeed assumed their eternal salvation, but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven. In scriptures says, ” But noting unclean shall enter heaven(Rev. ly21 v 27) and Hab. 1 v 13. how many of us will be perfectly sanctified at the time of deaths? Read !1 Maccabees 12 v 39-46 Old Testament Book. . Macabees he made atonement for the dead that they might be delivered from their sins.

  • Raphael says:

kindly explain more on purgatory I hardly know more about.

    • Allan Ecleo says:

Purgatory is temporary place of purification where those who have departed go through a period of expiation to eliminate all filth of mortal sin duly forgiven or all stain of unrepentant venial sin. This is the place where souls are sent for “nothing unclean” (Revelation 2:27) can enter Heaven. After purgation, souls are destined to ultimately enter Heaven once all stains of sin has been taken away by its purifying fires. Purgatory shall be extinguished as the last soul leaves it at the General Resurrection and Judgment, and only Heaven and hell will remain.
The Bible has clear manifestations about Purgatory:
“Judas Maccabaeus then took up a collection among all his soldiers, amounting to two thousand silver drachmas, which he sent to Jerusalem to provide for an expiatory sacrifice. In doing this he acted in a very excellent and noble way, inasmuch as he had the resurrection of the dead in view; for if he were not expecting the fallen to rise again, it would have been useless and foolish to pray for them in death. But if he did this with a view to the splendid reward that awaits those who had gone to rest in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. Thus he made atonement for the dead that they might be freed from this sin.” (2 Maccabees 12: 43-46)
This doctrine would have been condemned by Jesus if it had been invented by the Jews, as He condemned them for a long list of changes in doctrine and discipline (Matthew 23). Likewise, the Gospels imply the doctrine of Purgatory – “I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.” (Luke 12:59); “And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come” (Matthew 12:32). According to Pope St. Gregory the Great, the words of Christ in St. Matthew deduce that sins can be expiated in the next life, not in heaven or hell but in Purgatory.
St. Paul also writes, “The work of each will come to light, for the Day will disclose it. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire (itself) will test the quality of each one’s work. If the work stands that someone built upon the foundation, that person will receive a wage. But if someone’s work is burned up, that one will suffer loss; the person will be saved, but only as through fire.” (1 Corinthians 3:13-15). This indicates that one’s soul will be saved, but only after spending time in the purifying flames of purgatory.
Non-Catholics may argue like “But purgatory is unnecessary, for Christ’s death on the Cross has paid all debt of punishment for sin.” Yes it is adequate enough to redeem us from the eternal damnation in hell, but it didn’t free us from the need to undergo temporal punishments for sin. For instance, mankind is still subject to the temporal punishments of labor pain, sickness and death although redemption has already been made. St. Paul clarifies this point, “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his body, which is the church.”
Furthermore, the Bible divulges about the existence of more than just two places of Heaven and hell in the next world. St. Peter tells us in the Scripture that after Jesus’ death He preached His redemption “to the spirits in prison” which itself implies the concept of another temporary, .intermediate place such as Purgatory.

    • Catholic Say Staff says:

We do not know for sure. Suicide objectively speaking is mortally sinful, but seeing that there’s always a chance that the one who kills himself isn’t in the right state of mind, the gravity of the sin can be diminished or entirely removed according to the person’s instability at the moment. We pray for all suicides and hope that, through the mercy of God, they can be provided for. Peace be with you Judith.

      1. God makes everything possible. He fashioned our bodies in the first place, he will give command and the earth, fire and sea will bring out the bodies they’ve “taken”. He is God, he can do all thing.

Hi Anthony, I just wanted to mention that when I first started listening to Joel Osteen, I found him to be moving in my heart. I say this next part with much sadness….As I started to research the difference between “religions” or denominations, I found out, much to my surprise that he’s more into money than gathering souls. Please look up more about him…I pray for him to get in line with God’s Word an that he and his family will do better. He’s about grace which is good but life isn’t full of grace as we all go through hardships..which will either bring us closer or farther away from Jesus. He is a prosperity preacher. He thinks we deserve all the best now and that it’s pleasing to God to have “want”….all we need is Jesus! That is my opinion but he served me a great stepping stone onto better and more Biblical matters…not all that glitters is “gold” and we must be careful how we are to interpret the Word. Ask for discernment, I did when I first started having my doubts about Joel and God led me elsewhere. I am grateful He did but I also appreciate Joel for his ability to gather a crowd….a crowd that cares more about money than salvation. God’s blessing and guidance be with you~In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray for peace and God will grant it to you. Say the Rosary daily. Be patient, because it will take time, but you will get there, God wants you to come to him, and if you pray He will lead you deeper and deeper into a strong relationship with him. I started saying the Rosary daily about two years ago and the silent, daily repetition has changed my life. The blessed mother continues to lead me ever closer to her son, helping me to know Him and His will for my life. God bless you, and do not lose hope.

  • Don says:

Many people are concerned about what happens after death. Some say death is the absolute end of life, therefore, they live a life without fear of consequences. Others say that after death there will be a coming judgment for which people must prepare by living properly now.
“There Will Be Judgment and Life after Death”
The Bible tells us that God exists and a life other than our physical, tangible realm of here and now also exists. What we can see is temporal and is created by God, whom we cannot see. It is the eternal and invisible God who, for a purpose, created what is visible, including the earth, the trees, the animals, and human beings. Just as God is in the realm of eternity, so the life after death determined by the coming judgment of God is also after this presently visible realm.
“Two Main Types of Life after Death”
    1) Those who fulfill God’s purpose of creation, that is, those who believe that Christ died for their sins and resurrected for their justification and who take God in as life to become one with Him, will be with God, one with God, and ruling with God over the whole earth. This is the best possible thing that can happen to someone after death.
    2) Those who are without God today will be apart from the loving God for eternity. They will suffer pain in the lake of fire, being burnt together with Satan (the devil) and his fallen angels. The lake of fire was not prepared for man but for Satan and his angels. However, all mankind became one with Satan as a result of the fall of Adam. Because some do not turn back to God in spite of many warnings and opportunities, God will have to give them up to spend eternity with Satan and share in his torment. This is the worst type of life after death. We hope that as many as possible will turn to God and be spared, especially you who are reading this.
“The Deciding Factor for which Type You’ll Have”
In order to live a life that will prepare us to face the coming judgment, we must first find out what will be rewarded and what will be disapproved. Many people have the misconception that a person who does good deeds while living on earth will go to heaven, whereas a person who does evil things will go to hell. This concept is not according to the Bible. If you read the two types of life after death carefully, you will see something different. The deciding factor for what one’s life will be like for eternity is not one’s behavior while on earth but rather whether or not one has believed Christ’s death and resurrection and received God as life.
    “Man’s Problem”
Although man was created by God to contain Him, man was still given the choice to take God as life or to take Satan. Man chose to take Satan, who then entered man and became the sinful nature in man. Man became a sinner in his constitution and full of sins in his actions. There is now an element within man which loves unrighteousness and hates righteousness, which loves sin and darkness and hates light. All that God desired man to be, man is not. Man without God remains in sin and is dead in his spirit, the very part of man which was created to contact and contain God. If man does not repent, man is doomed to remain with Satan for eternity.
    “God’s Salvation”
But God, who is rich in mercy because of His great love with which He loves man, is not willing to see His created man become a victim of Satan and end up in the lake of fire with Satan. It is this love which motivated God to become a man to join in with victimized humanity, to die as the perfect substitute to rescue man from destruction. He then resurrected to become a life-giving Spirit to give life to all who would believe and receive Him.
When you receive Him into you, He will bring the life of God into you. God will be your life and be one with you. Then you must allow Him to grow in you to fill your whole being. This will deliver you from the Satanic nature that has been in you since your birth. The more He grows in you, the more you’ll be free from Satan’s tyranny. You will love as God loves. You will be righteous as God is righteous. You will express all God’s divine attributes, such as love, light, holiness, righteousness, kindness, etc. After living with God, in God, and one with God on the earth, you will certainly be approved at the judgment. You will definitely have a life with God, because you already will have been enjoying His eternal life during this physical life.
If you have not yet turned back to God and received His life through Jesus Christ, your life is still filled with Satan, and you are condemned already. It does not matter how much good you try to do, you will never be that good. You may be righteous sometimes, but not all the time. You may show love to all people, but you may actually hate some of them secretly inside your heart. This is not because you have no desire to be an upright person, but because you lack the empowering of the divine life. God is God and Satan is Satan. If you have Satan but not God, you can never be perfect in this life, and you will definitely be in the lake of fire with Satan after the judgment. If you have God living inside of you, you may be as perfect as God in this life, and you will definitely be with God and one with God eternally. What you need is to receive Jesus by calling on His name and admitting to Him that you are a sinner and that you need Him as your salvation.
Pray this way: “O Lord Jesus, I know that You have created me. I know that I have sin and do not have Your life. I believe that You died for me. Lord Jesus, come into me to be my life. I want to be with You now and forever.” Then you need to read the Bible and pray every day and meet with believers in oneness so that you may grow up into Him and be built with God’s people. By this, you will be assured of your destiny.

  • John says:

My wife’s parents were not Catholic. Although they were baptized they did not follow any religious practices in life. After meeting me and hearing me talk about the Church she converted to Catholicism and is now a regular practicing member. She worries, however, about the souls of her parents. I often wonder what to say to her about this.

    • Jane says:

Romans 3:21-28 is a good place to start for you to help your wife. Since her parents were baptized ( I am assuming after they accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour) and when they were baptized they believed in Jesus and weren’t just going through the motions, they are then in God’s grace and forgiveness. If a person really believes and asks for Jesus to come into their hearts, no one can take that away from them. No amount of “good deeds” and religious ceremony will assure you a place in Heaven.

  • Steve says:

I am 73 yrs old and was raised Catholic and my mother was quite strict in the teachings of the church. I have sinned greatly in many ways and have asked God for forgiveness of my sins and I don’t know where I stand with the church and God. Around 21 yrs of age, I married outside the church, lasted 8 yrs. Remarried thru the Church then divorced 8 yrs later. Remarried for the last time, and of course could not thru the church because second wife is still alive. A few years ago I talked to several priests on my situation. I have three beautiful children and a loving wife in this marriage, BUT, living in sin as I was I asked the priests “if I walk out of this marriage my children and wife will suffer greatly, they need me for every reason a family needs a father in the home. But I was willing to leave the home if that was the only way my soul could be saved, because I did not want to go to hell, and no I did not receive any sacraments i.e. communion. Finally I was told upon my suggestion, that if I were to set up a separate bedroom in my home and not have sexual relations with my wife, that I could return to the Church. So, I do not do anything that is against the teachings of the church and returned to receiving the sacraments” Am I wrong in my thinking this?

  • Lise says:

Bible says, punishment for disobedience happens to all of us namely dying, like a inherited disease, since we all are born sinners!!
Romans 5;12: “That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin,and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned ”
..therefor we are not having the eternal earthly life within as originally created by God. So, dying itself is the actual punishment..
And instead of that Adam and Eve multiplied and inhibited the earth and making it into a paradise this happened:
Genesis 3;19: In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.”
They multiplied but died. And all of their offspring until this very day have died, and life is not easy for any of us. No Paradise.
Then what?..did they continue to suffer even worse??
Ecclesiastes 9; 5, 10 : “Enjoy life with your beloved wife all the days of your futile life, which He has given you under the sun, all the days of your futility, for that is your lot in life and in your hard work at which you toil under the sun..”
” Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the Grave, where you are going.”
We are all given this limited life and we can choose to fill it with good things or selfish things. Notice that enjoying life is not a selfish thing, it is a gift from our creator as a reward for hard work.
Remember, Jesus was in the Grave 3 days before his resurrection,so he did not bring this guy to paradise at the same day he died. While in the grave, there is “no work, planning nor knowledge”. He himself referred to death as being asleep:
John 11:11,13,14:After he said these things, he added: “Laz′a·rus our friend has fallen asleep, but I am traveling there to awaken him.”.. “Jesus, however, had spoken about his death. But they imagined he was speaking about taking rest in sleep. Then Jesus said to them plainly: “Laz′a·rus has died”.
He woke up Lazarus, and there were no evidence that Lazarus had been any other places than in the Grave while he was dead.”Sleeping”.
After Jesus own resurrection, he entered the heavens with the value of his sacrifice, and not until then could any man or soul have the possibility for eternal life in any sense.
    Hebrews 9 :11,12, 24
“However, when Christ came as a high priest of the good things that have already taken place, he passed through the greater and more perfect tent not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. He entered into the holy place, not with the blood of goats and of young bulls, but with his own blood, once for all time, and obtained an everlasting deliverance for us.”
“For Christ did not enter into a holy place made with hands, which is a copy of the reality, but into heaven itself,so that he now appears before God on our behalf.”
Acts 2;34: “For David did not ascend to the heavens, but he himself says, God said to my Lord(Jesus): “Sit at my right hand until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.”’
Why did Jesus want to go through this? It was an act of justice to restore the future life of the humanity, explained in
Romans 5; 18,19: “So, then, as through one trespass the result to men of all sorts was condemnation, so too through one act of justification the result to men of all sorts is their being declared righteous for life. For just as through the disobedience of the one man many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one person many will be made righteous”
This is will be given as gift to those who believe in Him, as a contrast to the emptiness of death. However, through thousands of years people have worshiped other Gods. They have all ended up in the same Grave, because they did not know anything about Jesus. They will be resurrected. After the resurrection they will have to obey the True God, or they will be judged to the second death, meaning life is being over with, and that is for eternity.
When a person is resurrected, he will be judged by his way of living AFTER the resurrection, because what we do now, before we die is being paid for by the death itself.
Romans 6:23:”For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Acts 14:16,17″ In past generations he permitted all the nations to go on in their ways, although he did not leave himself without witness in that he did good, giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying you with food and filling your hearts with gladness.”
That means in a wider sense, that every human who wish to obey the Creator, and not follow the path of disobedience like Adam and Eve, will be entitled of the right to eternal life on this earth. Just remember that if we choose to disobey, the ransom value is no longer valid.
(Read James chapter 4) Still, when repenting our errors and trying to improve while asking for forgiveness, we can be assured that God will help us with his holy spirit to achieve our goal, to please our Heavenly Father.. (James chapter 1)
Knowing the right thing but ignoring it is making us being close to what the Devil himself do, and we don`t want to be in that group of beings, do we ?
To succeed we need accurate knowledge about what God really want us to do. Reading the Bible is a must, that is our instruction book. Study Jesus Christ, because he said that the one who have seen him, have seen the Lord. We can learn about what God is like by looking at Jesus example. Moreover, as the name “Christian” means, we must try our very best to follow his ways of treating others, and his priority in life.
What does this mean to our future hope of life? We are waiting for Jesus to come and fulfill the judgment, and because it is not here yet, all the dead souls sleeps like Lazarus in the Grave.
Hebrews 9; 27 : “And just as it is reserved for men to die once for all time, but after this to receive a judgment, so also the Christ was offered once for all time to bear the sins of many; and the second time that he appears it will be apart from sin, and he will be seen by those earnestly looking for him for their salvation.”
Isaiah 26:19 : “Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up.Awake and shout joyfully,You residents in the dust! For your dew is as the dew of the morning, And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life.”
    Revelation 21: 1-5
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea is no more. I also saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new.” Also he says: “Write, for these words are faithful* and true.”
The complicated explanations about being judged first into heavens and hell and being in the purgatory and then reunited with the body and then judged again, come from a unchristian idea about eternally living souls, that is a very old pagan believe and stems from old Babylonian religions. What is a living soul? it is a living being. A dead being is a dead soul. Death is only painful in the mind of the one who is alive. God wants us to serve him because we love him, not because we are scared to death for the punishment. That is a horrible lie that don`t fit with His own Word, and Being. God is Love.

  • Catholic staff say (on the soul):
“The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, as the Bible does that after death comes judgement. When the physical body dies, the soul (which is immortal)…”
The catechism may say that the soul is immortal, but the bible, in fact it says the opposite; look at a traditional bible called the KJV
    Gen 2:7
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
notice, that man “became a living soul”, his is a soul, he doesn’t have one, it is the difference between being a dog and having a dog, being a person and having a person, being a doctor or having a doctor…!
    Catholic Douay Bible:
    Ezek 18:4, 20
” Behold all souls are mine: as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, the same shall die…The soul that sinneth, the same shall die.”
    Math 10:28
“And fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
    James 5:20
“He must know that he who causeth a sinner to be converted from the error of his way, shall save his soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.”
Without going into the Greek and Hebrew, so as not to complicate matters, notice the simple teaching from bible doctrine, one OT prophet was inspired to write that the soul can die, a new testament disciple says that a soul can be saved from death and the master himself Jesus categorically said, no matter what Catholic spin is put on it, that the soul can be destroyed!
In John 5:26 we are told that the Father bestowed immortality on his son upon his resurrection from being dead, immortality is a special quality of life, such life cannot be made subject to death, be dissolved, suffer any kind of corruption, is deathless, and is self generating life…such is immortality, yet what do we find, the CC teaching one thins, seen in her Catechism and the same church teaching another thing, by way of its own bible, there can only be one truth, how can the church teach contradiction and truth on the exact same matter simultaneously?
I have my old 1971 Red Cover Pocket Edition Catechism in front of me and my Catholic bible and the two contradict, both by the same CC, which one lies, which one is telling the truth?
    Thank you!

Honestly im a catholic since birth but i never get a chance to read the bible bec. I don’t know how to read it. And everytime a face some difficult problems i blame god. Will god forgive?

    • Lynda Zimmer says:

dane, do not be heart heavy….I was brought up Catholic as well but when my parents divorced when I was 12, all faith stopped in my family, It is my belief that current Catholic teaching isn’t as sound as it used to be. (sadly) This is the work of satan! You do not need anything but Jesus in your life, call out to Him and He will reveal Himself to you. As far as not being able to read the Bible, I too, had that problem. The key word there was “had”….but someone was kind enough to tell me to pray to God for discernment and with a whole heart I asked him…and for understanding of His Word-the Truth that He wants me to see and live by. He has done so….all you have to do is ask and then believe. God bless you in your journey and please do not blame God for anything bad that happens. I feel God allows us to go through trials and tribulations set up by satan but GOD is much more powerful and when Jesus is within you, you will know it and He will help you face those trials or hardships. We all face them but keeping faith and loving Him with all your heart, mind and soul will set you free from what you fear. Take care and God knows you better than you know yourself. He WILL forgive you if you, with a full heart, are sorry. You repent and then try not to continue to sin. Satan is crafty and will prey on our weaknesses but the second he hears the name of Jesus, he’ll leave you….be with the peace of Jesus Christ who already paid for all our sins~

  • Alvin says:

can anyone tell me a verse in the Bible that teaches about “Purgatory”? i wonder where the Catholics getting it 🙁

  • Carleton says:

    I have a few questions.
    – You have led an exemplary life for decades, helping others, being good to your family and friends, helping the poor, avoiding serious wrong, regular attendance at church, and confessing your sins. However, in a rare occurrence, you commit a sin the Church considers “mortal” and, two hours later, get into an accident and die. Is the totality of your life considered at your judgment, or does the LAST thing you did overwrite all the years before? And, if so, who determined that this is how it works? I don’t see that in the Bible.
    – You die with a mortal sin on your soul, perhaps as a 17 year old boy having fun with Playboy, or (pre-Vatican II) eating a hot dog on Friday. You go to eternal damnation. Hitler killed six million Jews and God knows how many others, started World War II, and caused incalculable depredation. His eternal punishment is no worse than yours. Is that right?
    – A Sister told me long ago that Hell is eternal separation from God. Is anything to be gained by flogging/burning/torturing you for all eternity, especially since none of us on this side of the grave can see that and therefore you’re not really setting an example? Could hell simply be that if you were truly rotten you just don’t GET an afterlife – which, again, would be eternal separation from God?

    • Eric H. says:

Carleton, I will try and give you the churches stances on the questions you asked above.
      1. According to church teaching, if you are truly repentant for your sin and confess them to God, even if only in your heart, you will be spared eternal damnation. The key here is to be truly repentant. Just saying it isn’t enough. You’ll probably spend a fair amount of time in purgatory though.
      2. If you read the account of Sister Lucinda, who was the youngest sister of the three children of Fatima, they were given a vision of hell during one of the Blessed Mothers visits. It is certainly worth reading if you are interested.
      3. The sister is correct on the teaching, hell is eternal separation from God. There have been other seers who have had visions of hell, over the centuries. More in the last 200 years. Most profess the true cruelty of hell is a complete lack of love, or the ability to feel or express love.

  • Martin Samuela says:

Before I had this accident during New year’s eve in 1973, I always believed that after you die, you go straight to heaven or hell or purgatory. I’ve never heard or expect Mother Mary to be there after you leave your body, and never heard of anyone with the same experience I had. She was there smiling and telling me to go back. She was calling my name as I was walking towards this slightly upward walkway with lights at the end of it. Sort of inviting me to go through. As I turned around, she was just standing there smiling and telling me to go back. I’ve never ever seen any images or statues of her in that state before my entire life, ; her clothes were dark blue outside and dark red inside. Next to me was someone handsome which also never seen before. And still now I’m still wondering who he was. I did also asked myself if this experience was a coincidence or whatever. I have concluded that it was really because she was totally different from all the images and statues that I’ve seen before. I tried to ask a Catholic website for explanation but to no avail. I don’t know why.

  • Alison says:

Its amazing, the bible says nothing about going to heaven or that we are judged exactly after death, it states that we will be in a state of sleep until the resurrection, then judged at the resurrection. No where does it state we go to heaven, it states we will live again on the earth, this earth.

  • Devane says:

Hello im Devane, i just want to share my thoughts… we are already in heaven or in hell.. Its all up to your perceptions of what is… that life after death on the bible says… Its not letteraly to die the body but to die from our old unconcious self and have the eternal life as we want to have… We already have everything that we can all posses in this eternal life… If the bible says that we are to be judge after we die, its because we have the free will to choose what we want to do, its either good or bad.. The main thing is that you already have the knowing on what to do next, its all up to you… Thank you all…

  • Joseph Cristarella says:

If someone breaks a Commandment or two and indulges in all of the 7 Deadly Sins, can they go to Heaven even if they say they have reconciled for their sins? Also, if your spouse cheats on you, divorces you against your wishes (State does not care what the spouse wants or believes) do you still have to get an annulment to participate in the sacraments?

    • Devane says:

In mankind there are rules… But in GOD you have free will… Its all up to you, if you want good or bad… Just do remember that The CONSICQUECE is a bigger word than you think… i love you all…
