Fathers are invited to emulate Christ and set a spiritual example for their families. Encouraging them to pray and show them how to lead a life of virtue and faith.
It is the task of parents to bring their children closer to God, as the CCC says:
“Through the grace of the sacrament of marriage, parents receive the responsibility and privilege of evangelizing their children. Parents should initiate their children at an early age into the mysteries of the faith of which they are the ‘first heralds’ for their children”
CCC 2225
We have shown you how you can bless your children and the fact that God wants you to as much a possible.
One of the ways fathers can increase the custom of prayer in the family is to bless their children regularly.
St Louis, King of France took his fatherhood very seriously and worked hard to be an exceptional dad and a great king.
In his beautiful letter to his son he says a blessing that dads today can adapt and bless their children:
May the three Persons of the Holy Trinity and all the saints protect you from every evil. And may the Lord give you the grace to do his will so that he may be served and honored through you, that in the next life we may together come to see him, love him and praise him unceasingly. Amen.
