PRAYER FOR THIS MORNING (MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23)

Saint Clement I; Saint Columban; Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro

Prayer for the Morning

God’s are grandeur and power:

come, let us adore!

Glory to the Father…. Alleluia!

Hymn

O God beyond all praising,

We worship you today

And sing the love amazing

That songs cannot repay;

For we can only wonder

At every gift you send,

At blessings without number

And mercies without end:

We lift our hearts before you

And wait upon your word,

We honor and adore you,

Our great and mighty Lord.

Then hear, O gracious Savior,

Accept the love we bring,

That we who know your favor

May serve you as our King;

And whether our tomorrows

Be filled with good or ill,

We’ll triumph through our sorrows

And rise to bless you still:

To marvel at your beauty

And glory in your ways,

And make a joyful duty

Our sacrifice of praise.

Canticle (1 Chronicles 29:10-13)

Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,/ for wisdom and power are his. (Dn 2:20)

What return can we make to God except our prayer of grateful praise? Though he needs nothing, he rejoices in this gift of our love.

Blessed may you be, O Lord,

God of Israel our father,

from eternity to eternity.

Yours, O Lord, are grandeur and power,

majesty, splendor, and glory.

For all in heaven and on earth is yours;

yours, O Lord, is the sovereignty:

you are exalted as head over all.

Riches and honor are from you,

and you have dominion over all.

In your hand are power and might;

it is yours to give grandeur and strength to all.

Therefore, our God, we give you thanks

and we praise the majesty of your name.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God (1 Chronicles 16:25-27)

Great is the Lord and highly to be praised;/ and awesome is he, beyond all gods./ For all the gods of the nations are things of nought,/ but the Lord made the heavens./ Splendor and majesty go before him;/ praise and joy are in his holy place.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel. (1 Kgs 1:48)

Canticle of Zechariah

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens. (Eph 1:3)

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;

he has come to his people and set them free.

He has raised up for us a mighty savior,

born of the house of his servant David.

Through his holy prophets he promised of old

that he would save us from our enemies,

from the hands of all who hate us.

He promised to show mercy to our fathers

and to remember his holy covenant.

This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham:

to set us free from the hands of our enemies,

free to worship him without fear,

holy and righteous in his sight

all the days of our life.

You, my child, shall be called the prophet

of the Most High;

for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,

to give his people knowledge of salvation

by the forgiveness of their sins.

In the tender compassion of our God

the dawn from on high shall break upon us,

to shine on those who dwell in darkness

and the shadow of death,

and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to the Father…

Intercessions

In gratitude to the God who gives us every blessing, we pray:

R/Blessed be the God of our salvation!

You have brought all things into being:

– we, your creatures, pray: R/

You have made us in your image and redeemed us in your love:

– we, your children, pray: R/

You have destined us for everlasting life in your presence:

– we, your people, pray: R/

(Personal intentions)

Our Father….

O God, the giver of all good gifts, our desire to praise you is itself a blessing you have bestowed upon us. We can offer you nothing that you do not already have except our love, which we render to you in worship and in service to all those whom you redeem in Jesus Christ. Grant us glad gratitude in him, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
