PRAYER FOR THIS EVENING (TUESDAY, JUNE 30)

Prayer for the Evening

Let us give thanks to the Lord:

his love endures for ever!

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,

is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia!

HYMN

I heard the voice of Jesus say,

โ€œCome unto me and rest;

Lay down, O weary one, lay down

Your head upon my breast.โ€

I came to Jesus as I was,

So weary, worn, and sad;

I found in him a resting place,

And he has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,

โ€œBehold, I freely give

The living water; thirsty one,

Stoop down and drink, and live.โ€

I came to Jesus, and I drank

Of that life-giving stream;

My thirst was quenched, my soul revived,

And now I live in him.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,

โ€œI am this dark worldโ€™s light;

Look unto me, your morn shall rise,

And all your day be bright.โ€

I looked to Jesus, and I found

In him my Star, my Sun;

And in that light of life Iโ€™ll walk

Till traveling days are done.

PSALM 119:169-176

The Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost. (Lk 19:10)

Having wandered from any true sense of a spiritual home and any real sense of direction, many are lost, and they hunger hopelessly for they know not what. God, however, is a tireless seeker.

Lord, let my cry come before you:

teach me by your word.

Let my pleading come before you;

save me by your promise.

Let my lips proclaim your praise

because you teach me your commands.

Let my tongue sing your promise

for your commands are just.

Let your hand be ready to help me,

since I have chosen your precepts.

Lord, I long for your saving help

and your law is my delight.

Give life to my soul that I may praise you.

Let your decrees give me help.

I am lost like a sheep; seek your servants

for I remember your commands.

Glory to the Fatherโ€ฆ.

Word of God (Luke 15:4-6)

What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it? And when he does find it, he sets it on his ยญshoulders with great joy and, upon his arrival home, he calls ยญtogether his friends and neighbors and says to them, โ€œRejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.โ€

I will rescue my people from the land of the rising sun, and from the land of the setting sun.
(Zec 8:7)

CANTICLE OF MARY

Those whom the Lord has ransomed will return/ and enter Zion singing,/ crowned with everlasting joy. (Is 35:10)

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,

my spirit rejoices in God my Savior

for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:

the Almighty has done great things for me,

and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him

in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm,

he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,

and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things,

and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel

for he has remembered his promise of mercy,

the promise he made to our fathers,

to Abraham and his children for ever.

Glory to the Fatherโ€ฆ

INTERCESSIONS

The Good Shepherd bears the wounds of one who has sought the lost through thicket and thorn. With confidence, let us pray:

R/Lead your people home!

For those who live on the streets and in the shelters of our cities: R/

For those who have been left homeless by natural disasters and by war: R/

For those who have abandoned home and family: R/

For those who have left the Church: R/

(Personal intentions)

Our Fatherโ€ฆ.

May the Lord, our Shepherd, lead us to our heavenly homeland! Amen.

MARIAN ANTIPHON

Mary is the immaculate lily,

who brought forth Christ the imperishable rose.

O holy Mother of God,

immaculate sheep,

who gave birth to Christ the Lamb,

the Word incarnate from you;

O most holy Virgin,

who have astonished the hosts of angels;

stupendous is the miracle in heaven:

a woman clothed with the sun

carrying in her arms the Light.

Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae;

vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.

Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Evae.

Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes

in hac lacrimarum valle.

Eia ergo, advocata nostra,

illos tuos misericordes oculos

ad nos converte.

Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,

nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.

O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.

Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy,

our life, our sweetness, and our hope.

To you do we cry,

poor banished children of Eve.

To you do we send up our sighs,

mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Turn then, O most gracious advocate,

your eyes of mercy toward us,

and after this our exile

show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V/ Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,

R/ That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
