Remain thankful to God in all circumstances with this Bible verse

Keep this Bible verse close at hand when you have difficulty being thankful to God in difficult situations.

It is relatively easy to be thankful to God for positive blessings that we receive. Whether it is an enjoyable job, comfortable house, or loving family, we are naturally grateful for the good things in life.

However, are we thankful to God for everything, even when situations look dire?

This can be a more difficult disposition to have, but it is a necessary one for the Christian. We are challenged to be a people of hope, seeing God’s handiwork in all circumstances, even the difficult ones.

Here is a short Bible verse that can help orient our spiritual life in the right direction. Keep it close at hand for those times when we are not naturally thankful to God. It is a reminder that God’s will is in every event, even when we don’t understand it.

Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18)

How to decrease our fear of Jesus’ second coming

If we do not fear Jesus’ first coming into our soul, then his second coming won’t create anxiety.

The end of the world and Jesus’ second coming can often create anxiety in our soul. We fear the unknown and are worried about what will happen when Jesus comes again.

However, the second coming of Jesus is supposed to create within us a spirit of hope and joy, not fear.

St. Augustine explains the key to decreasing our apocalyptic fear in a commentary that is featured in the Church’s Office of Readings.

He has come the first time, and he will come again … Previously he came through his preachers, and he filled the whole world. Let us not resist his first coming, so that we may not dread the second … He who is without anxiety waits without fear until his Lord comes. For what sort of love of Christ is it to fear his coming? Brothers, do we not have to blush for shame? We love him, yet we fear his coming. Are we really certain that we love him? Or do we love our sins more?

This type of love is based entirely on trust, trusting that God’s plan is better than our own and that he will reward those who were faithful to him.

Furthermore, we won’t fear his second coming if we are prepared for it. If we want to receive God’s mercy at the end of our life, we must first be merciful to others.

[I]f you wish to receive mercy, be merciful before he comes; forgive whatever has been done against you; give of your abundance. Of whose possessions do you give, if not from his?…For what do you have, that you have not received? These are the sacrifices most pleasing to God: mercy, humility, praise, peace, charity. Such as these, then, let us bring and, free from fear, we shall await the coming of the judge who will judge the world in equity and the peoples in his truth.

With this type of disposition we can confidently pray, “Come, Lord Jesus!”

AND TODAY WE CELEBRATE… Saint of the Day: St. Albert the Great

Patron Saint of Scientists. Dominican Bishop and Doctor of the Church (1206-1280)

His life

+ Albert was born in Italy and was educated in Padua and Pavia prior to entering the Order of Preachers in 1223.

+ A brilliant scholar, he is most especially remembered as the teacher of the great Thomas Aquinas. Albert’s collected works fill 38 volumes and he possessed encyclopedic knowledge of logic, theology, astronomy, zoology, chemistry, and a number of other fields. His great love, however, was philosophy, and he was a great proponent of the teachings of Aristotle.

+ Albert was consecrated as bishop of Regensburg in 1260 and, as bishop, he was known as a man of peace of worked tirelessly to promote concord among peoples and cities.

+ Saint Albert “the Great” died on November 15, 1280, and was canonized in 1931. Having been declared a Doctor of the Church at the time of his canonization, he is also honored as the patron saint of philosophers and scientists.

For prayer and reflection

“It is by the path of love, which is charity, that God draws near to man, and man to God.”—Saint Albert the Great

Spiritual bonus

On this day, we also remember Saint Joseph Mukasa. Honored among the Martyrs of Uganda (celebrated on June 3), Joseph Mukasa—a member of the Kayozi clan—he became the first Catholic martyr in Uganda, giving his life for Christ on November 15, 1885. The Martyrs of Uganda were canonized in 1964.

Prayer

O God, who made the Bishop Saint Albert great

by his joining of human wisdom to divine faith,

grant, we pray, that we may so adhere to the truths he taught,

that through progress in learning

we may come to a deeper knowledge and love of you.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

PRAYER FOR THIS MORNING (SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15)

Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Prayer for the Morning

God gives us life in Christ:

let us give thanks and praise.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,

is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia!

HYMN

Those who love and those who labor

Follow in the way of Christ;

Thus the first disciples found him,

Thus the gift of love sufficed.

Jesus says to those who seek him,

I will never pass you by;

Raise the stone and you shall find me;

Cleave the wood, and there am I.

Where the many work together,

They with Christ himself abide,

But the lonely workers also

Find him ever at their side.

Lo, the Prince of common welfare

Dwells within the market strife;

Lo, the bread of heaven is broken

In the sacrament of life.

PSALM 24:1-6

Give her a reward of her labors,/ and let her works praise her at the city gates. (Prv 31:31)

God’s faithful people, women and men alike, praise God by their lives of faithful, often unsung labor as they put their gifts to use in the service of family, friends, neighbors, and strangers. Their reward is assured, though love, not reward, is their motive.

The Lord’s is the earth and its fullness,

the world and all its peoples.

It is he who set it on the seas;

on the waters he made it firm.

Who shall climb the mountain of the Lord?

Who shall stand in his holy place?

The man with clean hands and pure heart,

who desires not worthless things,

who has not sworn so as to deceive his neighbor.

He shall receive blessings from the Lord

and reward from the God who saves him.

Such are the men who seek him,

seek the face of the God of Jacob.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God (Titus 3:8)

This saying is trustworthy.

I want you to insist on these points, that those who have believed in God be careful to devote themselves to good works; these are excellent and beneficial to others.

Work at your tasks in due season,/ and in his own time God will give you your reward. (Sir 51:30)

CANTICLE OF ZECHARIAH

Whoever does good has his reward,/ which each receives according to his deeds. (Sir 16:14)

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;

he has come to his people and set them free.

He has raised up for us a mighty savior,

born of the house of his servant David.

Through his holy prophets he promised of old

that he would save us from our enemies,

from the hands of all who hate us.

He promised to show mercy to our fathers

and to remember his holy covenant.

This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham:

to set us free from the hands of our enemies,

free to worship him without fear,

holy and righteous in his sight

all the days of our life.

You, my child, shall be called the prophet

of the Most High;

for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,

to give his people knowledge of salvation

by the forgiveness of their sins.

In the tender compassion of our God

the dawn from on high shall break upon us,

to shine on those who dwell in darkness

and the shadow of death,

and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to the Father…

INTERCESSIONS

The Lord Jesus glorified his Father by accomplishing the work he was given to do (cf. Jn 17:4). Let us pray for the grace to follow his example.

R/May we do faithfully the work you have given.

You call some to care for a household:

– may they be rewarded with the love of those for whom they care. R/

You call some to feed and clothe the poor:

– may they be rewarded with wealth of heart. R/

You call some to work for the economic or political good of the world:

– may they be rewarded with peace. R/

(Personal intentions)

Our Father….

God of love, you pour out your Spirit in abundance on all those whom you call to serve you in Christ. Grant us the faith, wisdom, and love to make use of all your gifts, small and great, to serve the coming of your Kingdom, through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to put yourself in Jesus’ hands when you wake up

Start your morning by entrusting yourself to the protective care of Jesus.

When waking up in the morning, you may find the day’s events to be overwhelming at times, and you may not know how you will endure it.

The key is to remember that you are not alone, and that Jesus wants to walk with you throughout the day.

Here is a prayer that reminds you of that reality and places yourself into Jesus’ loving hands and protection.

My Jesus, bear me in your hands this day. Mary, holy Virgin, may I find shelter under your protecting mantle. And you, O heavenly Father, show me mercy, for the love of Jesus and of Mary. My Guardian Angel, and all my patron Saints, help me by your holy prayers.

PRAYER FOR THIS MORNING (SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14)

Blessed Virgin Mary

Prayer for the Morning

With the Holy Name of Mary always on our lips,

we put our trust in you, O Lord!

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,

is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia!

Hymn

Daily, daily sing to Mary,

Sing, my soul, her praises due:

All her feasts, her actions honor

With the heart’s devotion true.

Lost in wondering contemplation,

Be her majesty confessed:

Call her Mother, call her Virgin,

Happy Mother, Virgin blest.

She is mighty in her pleading,

Tender in her loving care;

Ever watchful, understanding,

All our sorrows she will share.

Advocate and loving mother,

Mediatrix of all grace:

Heaven’s blessings she dispenses

On our sinful human race.

All our graces flow through Mary;

All then join her praise to sing:

Fairest work of all creation,

Mother of creation’s King.

Sing in songs of peace unending,

Call upon her lovingly:

Seat of wisdom, Gate of heaven,

Morning star upon the sea.

Psalm 71:14-17, 22-24a

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. (cf. Lk 1:28)

The Holy Name of Mary is powerful. The tradition of the Church and the teaching of the Magisterium urge us to frequent recitation of the Hail Mary and the rosary. By keeping the name of Mary on our lips, we show our devotion to her. Mary’s mantle is always present to protect those who are her own. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the jewel of God’s creation, the holiest woman ever to live. When we repeat her name, we greatly honor God her Creator. Mary never keeps any glory for herself. Her soul magnifies the Lord (cf. Lk 1:46).

As for me, I will always hope

and praise you more and more.

My lips will tell of your justice

and day by day of your help

though I can never tell it all.

I will declare the Lord’s mighty deeds

proclaiming your justice, yours alone.

O God, you have taught me from my youth

and I proclaim your wonders still.

So I will give you thanks on the lyre

for your faithful love, my God.

To you will I sing with the harp

to you, the Holy One of Israel.

When I sing to you my lips shall rejoice

and my soul, which you have redeemed.

And all the day long my tongue

shall tell the tale of your justice.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God (Luke 1:30b-33)

Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now

and at the hour of our death.

Canticle of Zechariah

Your name spoken is a spreading perfume. (Sg 1:3)

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;

he has come to his people and set them free.

Glory to the Father…

Intercessions

We bring all our cares and place them before our heavenly Father, saying:

R/Hear us and answer our prayer.

That, when we are tempted to vainglory,

– we may gain the Blessed Virgin Mary’s humility. R/

That, when our efforts seem fruitless,

– we may remember to call upon the names of Jesus and Mary for strength. R/

That, when we feel lonely or discouraged,

– the name of Mary may give us comfort and encouragement. R/

That our relationship to the Mother of God

– may bring us ever closer to her Son, Jesus. R/

(Personal intentions)

Our Father….

Almighty Father, you greatly bless the names of those who do your will. Keep us close to the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose name is blessed among all generations. May we, by calling on her name, gain some share of her blessing. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

PRAYER FOR THIS EVENING (FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13)

Prayer for the Evening

The Lord will reign for ever: come, let us adore!

Glory to the Father…. Alleluia!

HYMN

We praise you, Lord, with joy this day

As proudly we proclaim

That in her life this woman’s love

Has glorified your name.

She longed for Christ, she yearned for him,

To see him face to face,

And through the long and patient years

She found in him her peace.

She walked in harmony with God,

Her eyes were on the Lord,

And in the struggles of each day

Her calm was in his word.

Her brothers and her sisters found

In her a mighty shield,

For in the fortress of her faith

They saw God’s power revealed.

PSALM 146:1-2, 5-10

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained by the world. (Jas 1:27)

Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini revealed the depth of her faith and her love for Jesus Christ in the love she poured out in good works done tirelessly on behalf of those in need. She was herself a living icon of the Heart of Christ.

My soul, give praise to the Lord;

I will praise the Lord all my days,

make music to my God while I live.

He is happy who is helped by Jacob’s God,

whose hope is in the Lord his God,

who alone made heaven and earth,

the seas and all they contain.

It is he who keeps faith for ever,

who is just to those who are oppressed.

It is he who gives bread to the hungry,

the Lord, who sets prisoners free,

the Lord who gives sight to the blind,

who raises up those who are bowed down,

the Lord, who protects the stranger

and upholds the widow and orphan.

It is the Lord who loves the just

but thwarts the path of the wicked.

The Lord will reign for ever,

Zion’s God, from age to age.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God (James 2:14-16)

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it?

Love one another as I love you. (Jn 15:12)

CANTICLE OF MARY

This is the fasting that I wish:/ Sharing your bread with the hungry,/ sheltering the oppressed and the homeless;/ Clothing the naked when you see them. (cf. Is 58:6-7)

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,

my spirit rejoices in God my Savior

for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:

the Almighty has done great things for me,

and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him

in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm,

he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,

and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things,

and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel

for he has remembered his promise of mercy,

the promise he made to our fathers,

to Abraham and his children for ever.

Glory to the Father…

INTERCESSIONS

Through the intercession of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, we pray:

R/Inflame us with your love, O Lord!

For the hungry,

– that we may find the means to feed them: R/

For the naked,

– that we may find the means to clothe them: R/

For the homeless,

– that we may find the means to shelter them: R/

For those who have died,

– that they may never want for our prayers: R/

Our Father….

May the Lord our God bless us in all our works and undertakings. Amen. (cf. Dt 15:10)

MARIAN ANTIPHON

Antiphon of the Divine Office

My soul magnifies the Lord,

for God has regarded my humility.

Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae;

vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.

Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Evae.

Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes

in hac lacrimarum valle.

Eia ergo, advocata nostra,

illos tuos misericordes oculos

ad nos converte.

Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,

nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.

O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.

Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy,

our life, our sweetness, and our hope.

To you do we cry,

poor banished children of Eve.

To you do we send up our sighs,

mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Turn then, O most gracious advocate,

your eyes of mercy toward us,

and after this our exile

show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V/ Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,

R/ That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Alma Redemptoris Mater, quae pervia caeli

porta manes, et stella maris, succurre cadenti,

surgere qui curat, populo: tu quae genuisti,

natura mirante, tuum sanctum Genitorem,

Virgo prius ac posterius, Gabrielis ab ore

sumens illud Ave, peccatorum miserere.

Loving mother of the Redeemer,

gate of heaven, star of the sea,

assist your people who have fallen yet strive to rise again.

To the wonderment of nature you bore your Creator,

yet remained a virgin after as before.

You who received Gabriel’s joyful greeting,

have pity on us, poor sinners.

V/ Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,

R/ That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

AND TODAY WE CELEBRATE… Saint of the Day: St. Frances Xavier Cabrini

Patron Saint of Immigrants. Founder of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (1850-1917)

Her life

+ Frances was born in the Lombardy region of Italy. She tried to enter religious life on two separate occasions as a young woman, but we refused each time because of poor health.

+ After working as a school teacher, she was asked by her bishop to become a missionary. She welcomed his invitation and formed a new community of sisters. In 1887, Mother Cabrini and her Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus were asked by Pope Leo XIII to travel to the United States to serve Italian immigrants.

+ Mother Cabrini arrived in 1889 and, despite numerous setbacks and opposition from Church and civil leaders, she was able to begin the ministries of teaching and healthcare among the poor, immigrant communities.

+ In time, Mother Cabrini traveled throughout the United States, as well as Latin and South America, opening schools and hospitals. Rome granted the approval for the rule for her community in 1907 and Frances became a naturalized citizen of the United States.

+ Frances Xavier Cabrini died on December 22, 1907, after she collapsed while wrapping Christmas gifts for immigrant children. She was canonized in 1946, becoming the first United States citizen to be honored as a saint. In 1950, Mother Cabrini was proclaimed patron saint of immigrant peoples.

For prayer and reflection

In the face of the endless cares and anxieties of life, she never let anything turn her aside from striving and aiming to please God and to work for his glory for which nothing, aided by God’s grace, seemed too laborious, or difficult, or beyond human strength.”—Pope Pius XII

PRAYER FOR THIS MORNING (FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13)

Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini

Prayer for the Morning

The Lord hears us when we cry:

let us praise his name!

Glory to the Father…. Alleluia!

HYMN

Where cross the crowded ways of life,

Where sound the cries of race and clan,

Above the noise of selfish strife,

We hear your voice, O Son of Man.

In haunts of wretchedness and need,

On shadowed thresholds dark with fears,

From paths where hide the lures of greed,

We catch the vision of your tears.

From tender childhood’s helplessness,

From human grief and burdened toil,

From famished souls, from sorrow’s stress,

Your heart has never known recoil.

The cup of water giv’n for you

Still holds the freshness of your grace;

Yet long these multitudes to view

The kind compassion of your face.

O Master, from the mountain side

Make haste to heal these hearts of pain;

Among these restless throngs abide,

O tread the city’s streets again.

PSALM 22:23-27, 31-32

I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me. (Mt 25:35)

Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, herself an immigrant, was the first United States citizen to be canonized. Her Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart continue the many works she began in order to make the love of Christ visible in care for the multiple needs of immigrants, the sick, the poor, and the uneducated.

I will tell of your name to my brethren

and praise you where they are assembled.

“You who fear the Lord give him praise;

all sons of Jacob, give him glory.

Revere him, Israel’s sons.

For he has never despised

nor scorned the poverty of the poor.

From him he has not hidden his face,

but he heard the poor man when he cried.

You are my praise in the great assembly.

My vows I will pay before those who fear him.

The poor shall eat and shall have their fill.

They shall praise the Lord, those who seek him.

May their hearts live for ever and ever!”

And my soul shall live for him, my children serve him.

They shall tell of the Lord to generations yet to come,

declare his faithfulness to peoples yet unborn:

“These things the Lord has done.”

Glory to the Father….

Word of God (Deuteronomy 10:17-19)

So you too must befriend the alien, for you were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt.

Do to others whatever you would have them

do to you. (Mt 7:12)

PRAYER FOR THIS EVENING (THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12)

Prayer for the Evening

Let us praise the God of our salvation:

let us call upon the Lord’s name in love!

Glory to the Father…. Alleluia!

HYMN

In labor all creation groans

Till fear and hatred cease,

Till human hearts have understood:

In Christ alone is peace.

In labor all creation groans

Till false divisions cease,

Till differences are reconciled

In Christ who is our peace.

In labor all creation groans

God’s justice to increase.

When right in place of might prevails,

Then Christ will be our peace.

CANTICLE OF MATTHEW 5:3-12a

Jesus said to them, “Can you drink the cup that I drink or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” (cf. Mk 10:38)

Saint Josaphat, bishop and shepherd of his flock, labored to bring the Churches of the East and the West into peaceful unity, to the point of laying down his life.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,

for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,

for they will inherit the land.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

for they will be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,

for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the clean of heart,

for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they will be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you

and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely] because of me.

Rejoice and be glad,

for your reward will be great in heaven.

Word of God (John 10:14-17)

“I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd. This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.”

It is better for you that one man should die instead of the people, so that the whole nation may not perish.

(Jn 11:50)

CANTICLE OF MARY

Bear with one another through love, striving to preserve the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace. (cf. Eph 4:2-3)

To the one God we pray:

R/Make strong, O Lord, the bond of peace sealed in

your blood!

Teach us, O Lord, a horror of divisive competition and argument:

– teach us to love oneness of mind and heart. R/

Guide us, O Lord, away from all the prejudices history has left us:

– guide us toward the unity of your kingdom. R/

Forgive us, O Lord, all that we have done to set any person against another:

– forgive us the polarities we have created and accepted within the Church. R/

(Personal intentions)

Our Father….

May the God in whose ways/ our fathers Abraham and Isaac walked,/ The God who has been our shepherd/ from our birth to this day,/ The Angel who has delivered us from all harm,/ bless us and keep us in peace. Amen. (cf. Gn 48:15-16)

MARIAN ANTIPHON

Antiphon of the Divine Office

My soul magnifies the Lord,

for God has regarded my humility.

Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae;

vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.

Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Evae.

Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes

in hac lacrimarum valle.

Eia ergo, advocata nostra,

illos tuos misericordes oculos

ad nos converte.

Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,

nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.

O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.

Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy,

our life, our sweetness, and our hope.

To you do we cry,

poor banished children of Eve.

To you do we send up our sighs,

mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Turn then, O most gracious advocate,

your eyes of mercy toward us,

and after this our exile

show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V/ Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,

R/ That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Alma Redemptoris Mater, quae pervia caeli

porta manes, et stella maris, succurre cadenti,

surgere qui curat, populo: tu quae genuisti,

natura mirante, tuum sanctum Genitorem,

Virgo prius ac posterius, Gabrielis ab ore

sumens illud Ave, peccatorum miserere.

Loving mother of the Redeemer,

gate of heaven, star of the sea,

assist your people who have fallen yet strive to rise again.

To the wonderment of nature you bore your Creator,

yet remained a virgin after as before.

You who received Gabriel’s joyful greeting,

have pity on us, poor sinners.

V/ Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,

R/ That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
