Prayer for the Morning (Wednesday, February 9)

Prayer for the Morning

Sing praise to God, sing praise!

Glory to the Father…. Alleluia!

Hymn

Jesus Christ is my Creator—

He formed sea and earth and air;

Nature’s pillars stand unshaken

On his power and constant care.

By his fingers for a dwelling

Was heaven’s vault sublime upreared:

Jesus suffered when to save us

He as man on earth appeared.

Lofty Angels! Godlike spirits,

Clad in robes of living light:

He who gave you all your glories,

Him you worship day and night,

Made his tent in human nature

That in him should man confide:

Your Delight, your Source, and Center

Died—for man a Ransom died.

Vast encircling Space! whose confines

Stretch beyond creation’s pole!

Worlds of magnitude appalling

In thee unobstructed roll:

He in whom thou art containèd,

Spread at first and peopled thee,

Lay, an infant, in the manger,

Died, a man, upon the tree.

Psalm 47

No servant can serve two masters. (Lk 16:13)

This psalm has consequences. If we say that God is really the ruler of all the earth, and all earthly authorities, we must ask ourselves whom we honor and why, whom we praise and why, whom we obey and why.

All peoples, clap your hands,

cry to God with shouts of joy!

For the Lord, the Most High, we must fear,

great king over all the earth.

He subdues peoples under us

and nations under our feet.

Our inheritance, our glory, is from him,

given to Jacob out of love.

God goes up with shouts of joy;

the Lord goes up with trumpet blast.

Sing praise for God, sing praise,

sing praise to our king, sing praise.

God is king of all the earth.

Sing praise with all your skill.

God is king over the nations;

God reigns on his holy throne.

The princes of the peoples are assembled

with the people of Abraham’s God.

The rulers of the earth belong to God,

to God who reigns over all.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God. 1 Corinthians 15:25-27a, 28

[Christ] must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death, for “he subjected everything under his feet.” When everything is subjected to him, then the Son himself will [also] be subjected to the one who subjected everything to him, so that God may be all in all.

Wrath and fury to those who selfishly disobey

the truth and obey wickedness. (Rom 2:8)

Canticle of Zechariah

Do you not know that if you present yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? (Rom 6:16)

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;

he has come to his people and set them free.

He has raised up for us a mighty savior,

born of the house of his servant David.

Through his holy prophets he promised of old

that he would save us from our enemies,

from the hands of all who hate us.

He promised to show mercy to our fathers

and to remember his holy covenant.

This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham:

to set us free from the hands of our enemies,

free to worship him without fear,

holy and righteous in his sight

all the days of our life.

You, my child, shall be called the prophet

of the Most High;

for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,

to give his people knowledge of salvation

by the forgiveness of their sins.

In the tender compassion of our God

the dawn from on high shall break upon us,

to shine on those who dwell in darkness

and the shadow of death,

and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to the Father…

Intercessions

To the God of heaven and earth, we pray:

R/Your kingdom come!

God of power and might, all authority comes from you:

– enlighten with your wisdom all those whom you appoint to positions of authority in Church or state. R/

All obedience is due to you:

– instill in us a spirit of responsible obedience to all those whom you have entrusted with legitimate authority. R/

All honor is yours by right:

– grant us a spirit of discernment so that we may honor only those who are truly honorable in your sight. R/

Our Father….

O Lord our God, you alone are God, and there is no other. Grant us an undivided heart, to love and serve you with all our mind and all our strength, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for the sick invoking Jesus’ miraculous healings

2

During his ministry on earth, Jesus was commonly identified as a healer.

Among the hallmarks of Jesus’ ministry was his particular care of the sick; curing multiple people from debilitating illnesses and injuries. Also, these miraculous healings become especially obvious when reading through the Gospels. Here is a short prayer excerpted from the Roman Ritual that invokes Jesus’ healing ministry and asks him to heal those who are sick now and restore them to health.

Prayer for the sick invoking Jesus’ miraculous healings

Lord Jesus Christ, Savior and consoler of our weakness, who delivered Peter’s mother-in-law and the ruler’s son from a high fever; who restored strength to the paralytic, cleansed the lepers, healed the centurion’s servant; who saved the woman suffering from hemorrhage, raised up the man lying helpless on his pallet at the pool of Bethsaida, went about the towns and villages healing all kinds of ailments … may the sick … be freed from their illness and restored in body and mind, and may rightly see fit to praise your power until the end of their days; you who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer for the Evening (Wednesday, February 8)

Prayer for the Evening

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good;

for his love endures for ever!

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,

is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia!

Hymn

Soul of my Savior, sanctify my breast,

Body of Christ, be thou my saving guest,

Blood of my Savior, bathe me in thy tide,

Wash me with waters gushing from thy side.

Strength and protection may thy passion be,

O blessed Jesus, hear and answer me;

Deep in thy wounds, Lord, hide and shelter me,

So shall I never, never part from thee.

Guard and defend me from the foe malign,

In death’s dread moments make me only thine;

Call me and bid me come to thee on high

Where I may praise thee with thy saints for aye.

Psalm 107:1-3, 10-16

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives,/ to let the oppressed go free. (cf. Lk 4:18)

The notion that one gains freedom by rebelling against God has been a popular illusion since Eden. The paradox of the Gospel is that we are set free from the chains of our own making by choosing to yoke ourselves to Christ, who bursts our bonds by his own Death and Resurrection.

“O give thanks to the Lord for he is good;

for his love endures for ever.”

Let them say this, the Lord’s redeemed,

whom he redeemed from the hand of the foe

and gathered from far-off lands,

from east and west, north and south.

Some lay in darkness and in gloom,

prisoners in misery and chains,

having defied the words of God

and spurned the counsels of the Most High.

He crushed their spirit with toil;

they stumbled; there was no one to help.

Then they cried to the Lord in their need

and he rescued them from their distress.

He led them forth from darkness and gloom

and broke their chains to pieces.

Let them thank the Lord for his goodness,

for the wonders he does for men:

for he bursts the gates of bronze

and shatters the iron bars.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God. Matthew 11:28-30

Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
(2 Cor 3:17)

Canticle of Mary

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives/ and release to the prisoners. (cf. Is 61:1)

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,

my spirit rejoices in God my Savior

for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:

the Almighty has done great things for me,

and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him

in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm,

he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,

and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things,

and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel

for he has remembered his promise of mercy,

the promise he made to our fathers,

to Abraham and his children for ever.

Glory to the Father…

Intercessions

For freedom Christ set us free (Gal 5:1). In grateful trust, let us pray to him:

R/We cry to you, O Lord, in our need.

For those who are in prison,

– that they may learn the way to true freedom. R/

For those who are entrapped in addiction,

– that they may find the road to recovery. R/

For those who live in defiance of your Word,

– that they may discover the freedom of the Gospel. R/

For those who have been sent to minister in your name to all who are captive in body or spirit,

– that they may be rewarded. R/

(Personal intentions)

Our Father….

To the one who is able to keep us from stumbling and to present us unblemished and exultant, in the presence of his glory, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord be glory, majesty, power, and authority from ages past, now, and for ages to come. Amen. (cf. Jude 24-25)

Marian Antiphon

Your praise, O Virgin Mary, shall not recede

from the mouths of men,

who have ever been mindful of the power of the Lord,

for whom you did not spare your life.

Salve Regina

Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae;

vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.

Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Evae.

Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes

in hac lacrimarum valle.

Eia ergo, advocata nostra,

illos tuos misericordes oculos

ad nos converte.

Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,

nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.

O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.

Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy,

our life, our sweetness, and our hope.

To you do we cry,

poor banished children of Eve.

To you do we send up our sighs,

mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Turn then, O most gracious advocate,

your eyes of mercy toward us,

and after this our exile

show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V/ Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,

R/ That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Prayer for the Morning (Monday, February 7)

Prayer for the Morning

Be still and know the Lord:

in peace, let us pray!

Glory to the Father…. Alleluia!

Hymn

Let every creature rise and bring

Peculiar honors to our King;

Angels descend with songs again,

And earth repeat the loud amen!

With power he vindicates the just,

And treads th’oppressor in the dust:

His worship and his fear shall last

Till hours, and years, and time be past.

As rain on meadows newly mown,

So shall he send his influence down:

His grace on fainting souls distills,

Like heav’nly dew on thirsty hills.

The saints shall flourish in his days,

Dressed in the robes of joy and praise;

Peace, like a river, from his throne

Shall flow to nations yet unknown.

Psalm 46

By waiting and by calm you shall be saved,/ in quiet and in trust your strength lies. (Is 30:15b)

God in his power is refuge and strength; God in his mercy is the river that refreshes the soul; God in his beauty stills all our useless struggles and gathers us into his peace.

God is for us a refuge and strength,

a helper close at hand, in time of distress:

so we shall not fear though the earth should rock,

though the mountains fall into the depths of the sea,

even though its waters rage and foam,

even though the mountains be shaken by its waves.

R/The Lord of hosts is with us:

the God of Jacob is our stronghold.

The waters of a river give joy to God’s city,

the holy place where the Most High dwells.

God is within, it cannot be shaken;

God will help it at the dawning of the day.

Nations are in tumult, kingdoms are shaken:

he lifts his voice, the earth shrinks away. R/

Come, consider the works of the Lord,

the redoubtable deeds he has done on the earth.

He puts an end to wars over all the earth;

the bow he breaks, the spear he snaps.

He burns the shields with fire.

“Be still and know that I am God,

supreme among the nations, supreme on the earth!” R/

Glory to the Father….

Word of God. Isaiah 49:5

The Lord has spoken/ who formed me as his servant from the womb,/ That Jacob may be brought back to him/ and Israel gathered to him;/ And I am made glorious in the sight of the Lord,/ and my God is now my strength!

The kingdom of God is among you!

(cf. Lk 17:21)

Canticle of Zechariah

The Lord himself will fight for you; you have only to keep still. (Ex 14:14)

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;

he has come to his people and set them free.

You, my child, shall be called the prophet

of the Most High;

for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,

to give his people knowledge of salvation

by the forgiveness of their sins.

In the tender compassion of our God

the dawn from on high shall break upon us,

to shine on those who dwell in darkness

and the shadow of death,

and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to the Father…

Intercessions

Let us lay all our needs in the merciful hands of God:

R/Grant peace, O Lord.

You are a helper close at hand in time of distress:

– grant peace of heart to all who are troubled and afraid. R/

You are in our midst when life’s ills assail us:

– keep our hearts fixed on you amid all disturbances. R/

Your Word is the river of life which gives joy to your people:

– refresh in prayer all who are burdened. R/

You put an end to war and to the weapons of war:

– teach us to lay aside all quarrels and attacks on our neighbors. R/

(Personal intentions)

Our Father….

Almighty and ever-living God, your Word is the rock in which we take refuge against all outward disturbance and inner turmoil. Pour forth upon your people the refreshing stream of living water which wells up from the heart of your Son, that we may dwell together in inward and outward peace, through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Say this prayer for strength to do good work

Give Me Strength, Lord

Prayer for the Evening (Saturday, February 5)

Prayer for the Evening

Vigil of the Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Lord is a God of mercy.

Come, let us adore him.

Glory to the Father…. Alleluia!

Hymn

Lord, from the depths I cry to you,

My supplication hear;

Lord, I, your patient servant plead

For your attentive ear.

I wait for God with eager eyes,

My hope is in his word;

More than the watchmen wait for dawn,

My soul waits for the Lord.

Let Israel hope still in the Lord,

In him is constant love;

For he his servant will redeem

And ev’ry sin remove.

Psalm 130

Lord, make haste and answer;/ for my spirit fails within me./ Do not hide your face/ lest I become like those in the grave. (Ps 143:7)

Sometimes the sense of our own sinfulness and weakness can be almost crippling. It can even push us away from God, because we feel unworthy of his love. This was Peter’s initial reaction when he experienced the holiness of Jesus, saying, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man” (Lk 5:8). But Jesus wishes to heal the sinner. We should fall on his mercy, and again and again he will raise us up in love.

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord,

Lord, hear my voice!

O let your ears be attentive

to the voice of my pleading.

If you, O Lord, should mark our guilt,

Lord, who would survive?

But with you is found forgiveness:

for this we revere you.

My soul is waiting for the Lord,

I count on his word.

My soul is longing for the Lord

more than watchman for daybreak.

Let the watchman count on daybreak

and Israel on the Lord.

Because with the Lord there is mercy

and fullness of redemption,

Israel indeed he will redeem

from all its iniquity.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God. Isaiah 54:10

Though the mountains leave their place/ and the hills be shaken,/ My love shall never leave you/ nor my covenant of peace be shaken,/ says the Lord, who has mercy on you.

Your wickedness is removed, your sin purged.
(Is 6:7)

Intercessions

The Lord hates sin, but loves sinners and wishes to make us whole, so we pray:

R/Lord, heal us in your mercy.

When our hearts are far from you: R/

When we are trapped in the sickness of sin: R/

When we seek false loves that draw us away from you: R/

Today, meditate on God’s mercy with this short prayer

Satan uses fear to keep us in sin: How to break free

Prayer for the Morning (Saturday, February 5)

Saint Agatha; First Saturday of the Month

Prayer for the Morning

Come, let us adore the Lamb of God

whom the virgins follow!

Glory to the Father…. Alleluia!

Hymn

Bright shall the day of Saint Agatha rise,

Virgin and martyr, for lo! from the skies,

Christ, as a lover, stooped tenderly down,

Crowning her brow with his duplicate crown.

Born unto affluence, gentle in blood,

Wealth and temptation she bravely withstood;

Earth with its vanities casting aside,

Binding her soul to her God as a bride.

Stronger of heart than the tyrant, her foe,

Patient she bowed ’neath the lash and the blow;

And by her bosom, all rent by the sword,

Proved her invincible love for the Lord.

Canticle. Zephaniah 3:14-18a

I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body but after that can do no more. (Lk 12:4)

In crying out to God, Saint Agatha found courage to face bodily torture and death. She went to her death as to her wedding banquet, trusting that Christ, the bridegroom with whom she kept faith in this life, would keep faith with her in the life to come.

Shout for joy, O daughter Zion!

sing joyfully, O Israel!

Be glad and exult with all your heart,

O daughter Jerusalem!

The Lord has removed the judgment against you,

he has turned away your enemies;

The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst,

you have no further misfortune to fear.

On that day, it shall be said to Jerusalem:

Fear not, O Zion, be not discouraged!

The Lord, your God, is in your midst,

a mighty savior;

He will rejoice over you with gladness,

and renew you in his love,

He will sing joyfully because of you,

as one sings at festivals.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God. Philippians 3:8-9a, 10

I even consider everything as a loss because of the supreme good of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have accepted the loss of all things and I consider them so much rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, to know him and the power of his resurrection and [the] sharing of his sufferings by being conformed to his death.

Father, into your hands I commend my spirit. (Lk 23:46)

Canticle of Zechariah

If we are afflicted, it is for your encouragement and salvation. (2 Cor 1:6)

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;

born of the house of his servant David.

Glory to the Father…

Intercessions

Through the intercession of Saint Agatha, we pray:

R/Lord, have mercy.

For the poor and the powerless,

– that you, O Christ, may be their defense. R/

For the threatened and frightened,

– that you, O Christ, may be their protection. R/

For the convinced and the courageous,

– that you, O Christ, may be their guardian. R/

(Personal intentions)

Our Father….

God, the Father of mercies, you strengthened Saint Agatha to bear torture and death rather than to forsake your Son, to whom her life was pledged. May she plead our cause before you, for she knew how to please you both in her consecration to virginity and in her courage in the face of martyrdom, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

5 Saints whose patronage came from the way they died

Saints who endured false accusations

Give thanks for God’s mercies with this night prayer

Examine your day and get ready for the next, under God’s protection.

It can be difficult to fall asleep at the end of a long day. We sometimes have a lot on our minds or we may even fear going to sleep knowing tomorrow will surely bring it’s struggles.

However, our days don’t have to end with such desolation. Many saints encourage an evening routine where we examine the day that has passed and recall the many blessings of the day. This exercise can put us in a much better disposition and reminds us of God’s providential care.

Below is one such night prayer from the St. Vincent’s Manual that focuses in a particular way on the heart of Jesus. If you are looking for a new bedtime routine, try this prayer and rest in the peace of Christ.

Give thanks for God’s mercies with this night prayer

Let us enter in spirit into the adorable heart of Jesus; [let] us place ourselves in the presence of God; let us adore him and give him thanks for all the benefits we have received from him particularly this day.

God, we adore thee through the sacred heart of thy Divine Son, as our Creator and Sovereign Good; we give thee thanks for all thy mercies to us, spiritual and temporal, general and particular, but more especially for the favors bestowed on us this day.

May thy holy name be eternally praised and glorified, and may we never be ungrateful for thy bounties.

We love thee, above all things, with our whole heart and soul, purely for thyself, and we desire to love thee, as the blessed do in heaven.

We also love our neighbor, for thy sake, as we love ourselves. And we sincerely forgive all who have injured us and ask pardon of all whom we have injured.

Sweet Jesus receive our souls! May the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, and all the Saints and Angels, glorify and love the Sacred Heart of Jesus for us this night, and pray for us to our Lord, that we may be preserved during it from all sin and evil.

St. Michael, defend us in the day of battle, that we may not be lost at the dreadful judgment.

O Angels of God, to whose care we are committed by the Supreme Clemency, enlighten, govern and defend us, this night, from all sin and danger.

Save us, O Lord, while we are awake and during our sleep, that we may watch with Christ, and rest in peace. Amen.

Surrender your anxiety to Jesus on the cross with this prayer

0

When feeling crushed by anxiety, we recommend uniting it to Jesus’ agony on Mount Calvary. Anxiety can quickly take us down a dark path, where our thoughts and hearts wander into scary places. God does not want us to despair when such feelings torment us. He encourages us to unite our sorrows with Jesus on the cross. Below is a short prayer from The family prayer book that expresses this “surrender,” meditating on this deep bond we can have with Jesus in our darkest moments.

Surrender your anxiety to Jesus on the cross with this prayer

My Savior and my God! Let me remember, in every care and anxiety of my life, what you suffered for my sake. Let me remember the anguish which prompted you to exclaim, “My God, my God, what have you forsaken me!” Forsake me not, my Redeemer: in every care and anxiety, raise up my soul towards you, and enable me to exclaim with confidence, Help me, O God, and have mercy on me, you who redeemed me with your precious blood.

When all is consummated for me on earth, may I hear your loving voice exclaim, “Come, blessed of my Father: come, you for whom I suffered so much: your toils and your trials are at an end: come and receive the kingdom prepared for you from the beginning of the world.” Amen.

Today, meditate on God’s mercy with this short prayer

1

John Paul II, the great apostle of Divine Mercy, once wrote, “The truth, revealed in Christ, about God the ‘Father of mercies,’ enables us to ‘see’ Him as particularly close to man especially when man is suffering, when he is under threat at the very heart of his existence and dignity.” When there is suffering, Christ can bring calm. In those moments the power of the Gospel will be made known. Christ will rush in and flood weary hearts with his peace.

Meditate on God’s mercy with this short prayer

O almighty and eternal God, whose majesty fills heaven and earth, I

firmly believe that you are here present; that your adorable eye is on

me; that you see and know all things, and are most intimately present

in the very center of my soul.

I give you thanks, from the bottom of my heart, for all your mercies

and blessings bestowed upon me and upon your whole Church; and

particularly for those I have received from you this day, in your

watching over me, and preserving me from so many evils, and

favoring me with so many graces and inspirations,

[Here pause, and meditate on God’s mercies from today]

Oh, let me never more be

ungrateful to you, my God, who are so good and gracious to me.

Prayer for the Evening

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified,

died, and was buried:

let us worship him in grateful prayer!

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,

is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia!

Hymn

In the Lord’s atoning grief

Be our rest and sweet relief;

Store we deep in heart’s recess

All the shame and bitterness.

Thorns, and cross, and nails, and lance,

Wounds, our treasure that enhance,

Vinegar, and gall, and reed,

And the pang his soul that freed.

May these all our spirits sate,

And with love inebriate;

In our souls plant virtue’s root,

And mature its glorious fruit.

Psalm 22:2-3, 17-19

He was pierced for our offenses,/ crushed for our sins,/ by his stripes we were healed. (cf. Is 53:5)

The Lord wept over the incurable wound which sin had inflicted on his people, seen in the reading as “the virgin daughter.” Yet he cured the wound by making it his own. He assumed our wounded humanity and healed it through the wounds he suffered on the cross.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

You are far from my plea and the cry of my distress.

O my God, I call by day and you give no reply;

I call by night and I find no peace.

Many dogs have surrounded me,

a band of the wicked beset me.

They tear holes in my hands and my feet

and lay me in the dust of death.

I can count every one of my bones.

These people stare at me and gloat;

they divide my clothing among them.

They cast lots for my robe.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God. Jeremiah 14:15a, 17

Thus says the Lord: Speak to them this word:

Let my eyes stream with tears/ day and night, without rest,/ Over the great destruction which overwhelms/ the virgin daughter of my people,/ over her incurable wound.

Why is my pain continuous,/ my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? (Jer 15:18)

Canticle of Mary

Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.” (Jn 20:27)

Christ in glory bears the wounds he made his own and offers them to us as the pledge of his transforming love. In faith we pray:

R/Heal us, O Lord!

You knew the pain of torture:

– have mercy on those who suffer torture and death in our day. R/

You knew the unbearable burden of the cross:

– have mercy on those who fall under the burden of life. R/

You knew the anguish of abandonment:

– have mercy on those who have been abandoned by loved ones. R/

(Personal intentions)

Our Father….

May the God who is rich in mercy, because of his great love for us, bring us to life in Christ when we are dead in sin! Amen. (cf. Eph 2:4-5)

Marian Antiphon

Your praise, O Virgin Mary, shall not recede

from the mouths of men,

who have ever been mindful of the power of the Lord,

for whom you did not spare your life.

Salve Regina

Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae;

vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.

Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Evae.

Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes

in hac lacrimarum valle.

Eia ergo, advocata nostra,

illos tuos misericordes oculos

ad nos converte.

Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,

nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.

O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.

Hail Holy Queen

Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy,

our life, our sweetness, and our hope.

To you do we cry,

poor banished children of Eve.

To you do we send up our sighs,

mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Turn then, O most gracious advocate,

your eyes of mercy toward us,

and after this our exile

show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V/ Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,

R/ That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
