How Does a Catholic Renounce Membership in the Freemasons?

How Does a Catholic Renounce Membership in the Freemasons?

Full Question

How does a Catholic renounce membership in the Freemasons?

Answer

The Catholic Church has long held that her faith is incompatible with masonic teachings and practices. So, the Church has had a history of imposing severe punishments on Catholics who join the freemasons. Canon Law prescribes a “just penalty” for mere members and interdict for those who hold office :

“A person who joins an association which plots against the Church is to be punished with a just penalty; however, a person who promotes or directs an association of this kind is to be punished with an interdict”

Canon. 1374

But these punishments do not happen automatically, they must be imposed by the legitimate authority (bishop). Therefore if someone has joined the Freemasons and has not received any punishment from their local bishop, they can simply formally renounce their membership and go to confession. But if they have received any imposed punishment from their bishop, they must do the above and also appeal to the authority who imposed the penalty to lift it. It is fine if the bishop is no longer in office, any bishop that has replaced him can lift the penalty.

Are there really many churches within the Catholic Church?

3

Are there really many churches within the Catholic Church?

Answer: In a sense Yes.

There are a number of particular or sui iuris Churches within the Universal Church, of which the Roman Catholic Church is one of them. These particular Churches have distinctive rites, which term refers to a liturgical, theological, and spiritual heritage. All these particular churches, though distinct in customs and rubrics, adhere to the Pope and have essentially one doctrine. The external modes of worship differ, but the basic underlying beliefs are basically the same. All are under the “One flock and One Shepherd”.

There are 24 such autonomous Catholic churches: One Latin Church (i. e. Western) and 23 Eastern Catholic Churches.

I shall give a list of rites and the particular Churches that practice them:

  • Latin liturgical tradition:
    • Latin Church
  • Alexandrian liturgical tradition:
    • Coptic Catholic Church
    • Ethiopian Catholic Church
    • Eritrean Catholic Church
  • Antiochian liturgical tradition:
    • Maronite Church
    • Syrian Catholic Church
    • Syro-Malankara Catholic Church
  • Armenian liturgical tradition:
    • Armenian Catholic Church
  • Chaldean or East Syrian liturgical tradition:
    • Chaldean Catholic Church
    • Syro-Malabar Catholic Church
  • Byzantine liturgical tradition:
    • Albanian Greek Catholic Church
    • Belarusian Greek Catholic Church
    • Bulgarian Greek Catholic Church
    • Byzantine Catholic Church of Croatia and Serbia
    • Greek Byzantine Catholic Church
    • Hungarian Greek Catholic Church
    • Italo-Albanian Catholic Church
    • Macedonian Greek Catholic Church
    • Melkite Greek Catholic Church
    • Romanian Church United with Rome, Greek-Catholic
    • Russian Greek Catholic Church
    • Ruthenian Catholic Church
    • Slovak Greek Catholic Church
    • Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church

This goes on to show the beauty of the Universal Church; a garden of a variety of flowers and colors, but all gathered in the one house of God.

Prayer for the Morning (Thursday, October 28)

Prayer for the Morning

Come in; let us bow and bend low;

let us kneel before the God who made us! (Ps 95:6)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,

is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia!

Hymn

One joyful hymn of praise must greet

Apostles whom we always find

Together in the Gospel’s page,

By faithful love and zeal combined.

To follow Christ in early youth

Was surely Simon’s joy and pride,

Before the zealot would set forth

To preach his name both far and wide.

Saint Jude, a kinsman of our Lord,

In heart and mind yet closer still,

Your words remain until this day

With hope and love our souls to fill.

As brothers both in life and death,

A martyr’s crown was your reward,

As shining witnesses to truth

And victims worthy of your Lord.

Psalm 29

Listen to my voice; then I will be your God and you shall be my people. (Jer 7:23)

The voice of the Lord is full of power! He calls each of us, like the Apostles Simon and Jude, to be his voice to the world, knowing that wherever we go, he will follow.

O give the Lord, you sons of God,

give the Lord glory and power;

give the Lord the glory of his name.

Adore the Lord in his holy court.

The Lord’s voice resounding on the waters,

the Lord on the immensity of waters;

the voice of the Lord, full of power,

the voice of the Lord, full of splendor.

The Lord’s voice shattering the cedars,

the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon;

he makes Lebanon leap like a calf

and Sirion like a young wild-ox.

The Lord’s voice flashes flames of fire.

The Lord’s voice shaking the wilderness,

the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh;

the Lord’s voice rending the oak tree

and stripping the forest bare.

The God of glory thunders.

In his temple they all cry: “Glory!”

The Lord sat enthroned over the flood;

[the] Lord sits as king for ever.

The Lord will give strength to his people,

[the] Lord will bless his people with peace.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God (James 1:22-25)

Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his own face in a mirror. He sees himself, then goes off and promptly forgets what he looked like. But the one who peers into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres, and is not a hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, such a one shall be blessed in what he does.

Let us hear the word of the Lord and keep it!

Canticle of Zechariah

Jesus said: “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.” (cf. Jn 14:23)

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;

he has come to his people and set them free.

He has raised up for us a mighty savior,

born of the house of his servant David.

Through his holy prophets he promised of old

that he would save us from our enemies,

from the hands of all who hate us.

He promised to show mercy to our fathers

and to remember his holy covenant.

This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham:

to set us free from the hands of our enemies,

free to worship him without fear,

holy and righteous in his sight

all the days of our life.

You, my child, shall be called the prophet

of the Most High;

for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,

to give his people knowledge of salvation

by the forgiveness of their sins.

In the tender compassion of our God

the dawn from on high shall break upon us,

to shine on those who dwell in darkness

and the shadow of death,

and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to the Father…

Intercessions

God has granted us a rich inheritance of faith from the Apostles. With gratitude let us pray:

R/O God, we praise you!

Blessed be God for the holy Church

– built upon the foundation of the Apostles’ witness to the Death and Resurrection of Jesus: R/

Blessed be God for the Good News of our salvation

– handed on from generation to generation from the Apostles: R/

Blessed be God for the sacraments of baptism and penance

– through which we receive the new life of the risen Christ proclaimed by the Apostles: R/

Blessed be God for the Eucharist

– in which we participate in the mystery of the cross witnessed by the Apostles: R/

(Personal intentions)

Our Father….

O Lord our God, you chose to build your Church upon the faith of ordinary people made extraordinary by the companionship of your Son and the power of the Holy Spirit. Keep us faithful to the gift which they received with such joy and handed on at such cost, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Catholic Morning Offering Prayer

Get your day started with God with these 7 powerful morning prayers

Pledge to God to make better choices with this morning prayer

These prayers recall 7 occasions the blood of Jesus was spilled

0

And they are meant to be prayed every day for 12 years!

A few years ago I met a woman who mentioned she’d been praying The 12-Year Prayer of St. Bridget for just over a year. I had no idea what she was referring to, and I asked her to explain. When she shared the prayer with me, I decided I wanted to embark on my own 12-year journey with these meditations. These prayers recall 7 occasions the blood of Jesus was spilled.

I began praying to them every night shortly after, and I find great comfort in both the prayers and the promises.

Saint Bridget of Sweden was a 14th-century mystic and visionary, who died on July 23, 1373. July 23 is now her feast day.

She received numerous revelations throughout her life. This set of prayers that focus on the Passion of Jesus was given to her, with great promises attached.

These meditations are to be said daily for a very unusual length of time — 12 years. The prayer honors the times that Christ shed His Precious Blood, and it was approved by Pope Pius IX.

Here is the prayer

Opening Prayer

O Jesus, I now wish to pray the Lord’s Prayer seven times in unity with the love with which Thou sanctified this prayer in Thy Heart. Take it from my lips into Thy Divine Heart. Improve and complete it until it brings as much honor and joy to the Blessed Trinity as Thou granted it on Earth with this prayer. May these pour upon Thy Holy Humanity in glorification to Thy painful Wounds and the Precious Blood Thou spilled from them.

1) The Circumcision

Our Father. Hail Mary.

Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer to Thee the first wounds; the first pains and the first bloodshed, as atonement for my and all of humanity’s sins of youth, as protection against the first mortal sin; especially among my relatives.

2) The Suffering on the Mount of Olives

Our Father. Hail Mary.

Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus; I offer to Thee the terrifying suffering of the Heart of Jesus on the Mount of Olives, and every drop of His Sweat of Blood; as atonement for my and all of humanity’s sins of the heart; as protection against such sins, and for the spreading of Divine and Brotherly Love.

3) The Scourging

Our Father. Hail Mary.

Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer to Thee the many thousands of Wounds, the gruesome Pains and the Precious Blood of the Scourging, as atonement for my and  all of humanity’s sins of the Flesh, as protection against such sins and the preservation of innocence, especially among my relatives.

4) The Crowning with Thorns

Our Father. Hail Mary.

Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer to Thee the Wounds, the Pains and the Precious Blood of the Holy Head of Jesus from the Crowning with Thorns, as atonement for my and  all of humanity’s sins of the spirit, as protection against such sins and for the spreading of the Kingdom  of Christ here on Earth.

5) The Carrying of the Cross

Our Father. Hail Mary.

Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer to Thee the Sufferings on the Way of the Cross, especially the Holy Wound on His Shoulder and its precious Blood; as atonement for my and all of humanity’s rebellion against the Cross, every grumbling against Thy Holy Providence, and all other sins of  the tongue, as protection against such sins and for true love of the Cross.

6) The Crucifixion of Jesus

Our Father. Hail Mary.

Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer to Thee Thy Son on the Cross, His nailing and lifting on high, the Wounds on His Hands and Feet, and the three streams of His Precious Blood that poured forth for us from these, the extreme tortures of His Body and Soul, His precious death and its unbloody renewal in all Holy Masses on Earth, as atonement for all wounds against vows and regulations within Religious Orders, as reparation for my and all the world’s sins, for the sick and dying, for all holy priests and laymen, for the intentions of the Holy Father toward the restoration of Christian families, for the strengthening of Faith, for our country, for unity among all nations in Christ and His Church, and also for the Diaspora.

7) The Piercing of Jesus’ Side

Our Father. Hail Mary.

Eternal Father, accept as worthy for the needs of Holy Church, and as atonement for the sins of all Mankind; the precious Blood and Water which poured forth from the Wound of the Divine Heart of Jesus. Be gracious and merciful towards us. Blood  of Christ, the last precious content of His Holy Heart, wash me of all my and other’s guilt of sin! Water from the Side of Christ, wash me clean of all punishments for sin. and extinguish the flames of Purgatory for me and for all the Poor Souls. Amen.

ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD

Our Lord’s Precious Blood is a Mighty Spiritual Weapon

Litany of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ

Prayer for the Morning (Wednesday, October 27)

Prayer for the Morning

Let us praise the name of the Lord!

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,

is now, and will be forever. Amen. Alleluia!

Hymn

In your mercy, Lord, you called me,

Taught my sinful heart and mind,

Else this world had still enthralled me,

And to glory kept me blind.

Lord, I did not freely choose you

Till by grace you set me free;

For my heart would still refuse you

Had your love not chosen me.

Now my heart sets none above you,

For your grace alone I thirst,

Knowing well that, if I love you,

You, O Lord, have loved me first.

PSALM 135:1-6

With age-old love I have loved you;/ so I have kept my mercy toward you. (Jer 31:3)

Created, chosen, redeemed by almighty God, we have reason to sing praise at the beginning of this new day, not for any achievements of our own but for his great love for us.

Praise the name of the Lord,

praise him, servants of the Lord,

who stand in the house of the Lord,

in the courts of the house of our God.

Praise the Lord for the Lord is good.

Sing a psalm to his name for he is loving.

For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself

and Israel for his own possession.

For I know the Lord is great,

that our Lord is high above all gods.

The Lord does whatever he wills,

in heaven, on earth, in the seas.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God (Deuteronomy 7:6-8)

You are a people sacred to the Lord, your God; he has chosen you from all the nations on the face of the earth to be a people peculiarly his own. It was not because you are the largest of all nations that the Lord set his heart on you and chose you, for you are really the smallest of all nations. It was because the Lord loved you and because of his fidelity to the oath he had sworn to your fathers, that he brought you out with his strong hand from the place of slavery, and ransomed you from the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt.

I have loved you, says the Lord.

(Mal 1:2)

Canticle of Zechariah

Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord. (2 Cor 10:17)

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;

he has come to his people and set them free.

You, my child, shall be called the prophet

of the Most High;

to give his people knowledge of salvation

by the forgiveness of their sins.

In the tender compassion of our God

the dawn from on high shall break upon us,

to shine on those who dwell in darkness

and the shadow of death,

and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to the Father…

Intercessions

Because of God’s love for us, we dare to say:

R/Our Father, who art in heaven, hear our prayer.

You created us from nothing:

– may we live always before you in thanksgiving and praise. R/

You chose us out of love:

– may we grow daily in our love for you. R/

You redeemed us through the gift of your Son’s Incarnation, Death, and Resurrection:

– may we think and act as faithful witnesses to the Gospel. R/

Personal intentions

Our Father….

God our Father, your love for the world you created is without measure. May we grow each day toward the fire of your love for us, reflected in and through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Give Me Strength, Lord

Powerful Prayer to St. Joseph the Worker

Before confession ask your Guardian Angel for help

Catholic Evening Prayer for Tuesday, October 26

INTRODUCTION

O God, come to our aid.

O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son

and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen. Alleluia.

Hymn

Before we end our day, O Lord,

We make this prayer to you:

That you continue in your love

To guard your people here.

Give us this night untroubled rest

And build our strength anew:

Your Splendour driving far away

All darkness of the foe.

Our hearts’ desire to love you, Lord,

Watch over while we sleep,

That when the new day dawns on high

We may your praises sing.

All glory be to you, O Christ,

Who saved mankind from death

To share with you the Father’s love

And in the Spirit live.

Psalm 48 (49)

The uselessness of riches

You cannot serve both God and wealth.

All peoples, listen –

all who live in the world, hear what I have to say:

humble and great together,

rich and poor alike!

My mouth will speak wisdom,

my inmost thoughts will bring good counsel.

I will turn my ears to a mystery,

I will expound a riddle on the lyre.

Why should I be fearful in times of trouble,

when the crimes of usurpers hem me in?

They trust in their own strength

and glory in their great riches.

But, after all, man cannot redeem himself,

he cannot ransom himself before God.

The price of his soul’s redemption is too great, he cannot pay it –

the price of eternal death avoided.

He will see that even the wise die;

the foolish and the stupid too will perish,

and their riches will pass to others.

Their tombs will be homes to them for ever,

their dwelling-place for all generations,

even if the lands they owned are named after them.

Though he be full of honour, man will not endure:

he is like the beasts of burden, that die;

he is like the beasts that perish.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son

and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen.

You cannot serve both God and wealth.

Night Prayer

Say this prayer for peaceful night sleep

Psalm 48 (49)

Store up treasure for yourselves in heaven, says the Lord.

Those who trust in themselves – this is the road they take.

This is the end of those who boast.

Like sheep they go down into the underworld,

and death is their shepherd.

They will fall headlong into the grave:

their faces will be eaten away,

and the underworld will be their dwelling-place.

But God will ransom my life;

truly he will lift me from the grasp of the underworld.

Do not fear, when a man becomes rich

and the glory of his house increases.

When he dies, he will not take it with him,

his glory will not follow him down to the grave.

Even if he calls himself blessed,

says “see how they praise me for my success,”

still he will join his fathers,

cut off from light, for ever.

Though he be full of honour, yet he does not understand.

He is like the beasts of burden, that die;

he is like the beasts that perish.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son

and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen.

Store up treasure for yourselves in heaven, says the Lord.

Canticle Apocalypse 4,5

The song of the redeemed

Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive glory and honour.

You are worthy, our Lord and our God,

to receive glory and honour and power;

for you made all things,

and it is by your will that they exist and were created.

You are worthy, Lord,

to receive the book and open its seals,

for you were killed,

and with your blood you have ransomed people

from every tribe and language and people and nation,

and made them rulers and priests for God;

and they will rule over the earth.

The Lamb is worthy, who was killed,

to receive power and riches and wisdom,

strength and honour, glory and blessing.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son

and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen.

Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive glory and honor.

Short Reading Romans 3:23-25

All have sinned and forfeited God’s glory, and all are justified through the free gift of his grace by being redeemed in Christ Jesus who was appointed by God to sacrifice his life so as to win reconciliation through faith.

Short Responsory

You will give me the fullness of joy in your presence, O Lord.

– You will give me the fullness of joy in your presence, O Lord.

I will find happiness at your right hand for ever.

– You will give me the fullness of joy in your presence, O Lord.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

– You will give me the fullness of joy in your presence, O Lord.

Canticle (Magnificat)

My soul rejoices in the Lord

Do great things for us, O Lord, for you are mighty, and holy is your name.

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,

and my spirit rejoices in God, my salvation.

For he has shown me such favour –

me, his lowly handmaiden.

Now all generations will call me blessed,

because the mighty one has done great things for me.

His name is holy,

his mercy lasts for generation after generation

for those who revere him.

He has put forth his strength:

he has scattered the proud and conceited,

torn princes from their thrones;

but lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things;

the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel,

he has remembered his mercy as he promised to our fathers,

to Abraham and his children for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son

and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen.

Do great things for us, O Lord, for you are mighty, and holy is your name.

Prayers and intercessions

Christ is the shepherd of his flock: he loves and cares for his people. We turn to him in trust and say:

– Lord, we need your care.

Christ our Lord, you are pastor of all the ages,

protect our Bishop, N., and all the pastors of your Church.

– Lord, we need your care.

Be with those who are persecuted for their faith, and those cut off from the support of the Church:

Good Shepherd, in their pain and isolation may they know your care.

– Lord, we need your care.

Bring healing to the sick;

give nourishment to the hungry.

– Lord, we need your care.

We remember those who make our laws and those who apply them:

Lord, give them wisdom and discernment.

– Lord, we need your care.

Gather the flock for which you laid down your life:

bring home to their Father’s house all who have died in your peace.

– Lord, we need your care.

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us,

and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

Yours is the day and yours is the night, Lord God:

let the Sun of Justice shine so steadily in our hearts

that we may come at length

to that light where you dwell eternally.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

(one) God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

The Lord bless us, and keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life.

Amen.

Thirty Days Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, in Honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ

A Powerful Novena to Mary for Impossible Requests

Short Powerful prayer after going to Confession

0

A beautiful prayer for after receiving absolution from the priest.

The sacrament of confession is a beautiful extension of God’s infinite mercy. It is that great gift to humanity that restores our relationship with God, the Heavenly Father.

However, sometimes we don’t always feel the profound action of our sins being wiped away. We may immediately say our penance and leave the Church without acknowledging what just happened in the confessional.

One way to help our souls enter into the reality of what took place is to pray a simple prayer after going to confession. It could be a short “thank you” to God for the gift he just bestowed upon you, or maybe a longer dialogue of thanksgiving. Whatever we do, it is important to imagine the weight of our sins being lifted away by the Good Shepherd.

Here is one ancient prayer passed down in the traditions of the Church that envisions this action of God as chains falling off, giving us the freedom that our hearts desire.

Short Powerful prayer after going to Confession

O merciful God, as at the words of thy angel St. Peter was immediately

restored to liberty by the chains falling off from his feet, so grant, dear

Lord, that by the words of this holy sacrament, pronounced by the

priest, the chains of my sins may be loosed, and all my offenses be

pardoned.

Amen.

Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! O God, be merciful to me a

sinner! O Thou who sufferedst for me, have mercy on me! Sprinkle me

with thy blood, O Jesus, and I shall be made whiter than snow.

Prayer before Confession

Must I go for Confession? And Why?

A Prayer After Confession by St. Frances Xavier Cabrini

Pope Francis’s prayer at the site of the Fatima apparitions

The Pope will pray to the Virgin Mary to ‘help us follow the example of Blessed Francisco and Blessed Jacinta’

The Catholic News Service has produced an English translation of the prayer Pope Francis has written and will recite at the Little Chapel of the Apparitions in Fatima on May 12, 2017.

Pope Francis:

Hail Queen,

Blessed Virgin of Fatima,

lady of the Immaculate Heart,

refuge and path that leads to God!

Pilgrim of the Light that radiates from your hands,

I give thanks to God the Father who,

at all times and in all places,

acts within human history;

pilgrim of the peace that you announce in this place,

I praise Christ, our peace,

and I pray for harmony

among all peoples in this world;

pilgrim of the hope that the Spirit encourages,

I want to be a prophet and messenger to wash the feet of all,

at the same table that unites us.

Assembly:

Hail o clement, hail o loving! Hail Queen of the Rosary of Fatima. Hail o clement, o loving, o sweet Virgin Mary.

Pope Francis:

Hail Mother of Mercy,

the lady dressed in white!

In this place where 100 years ago,

you showed us all

the plans of the mercy of our God,

I look at your garment of light

and, as a bishop dressed in white,

I remember all those who,

dressed in their white baptismal robes,

want to live in God

and pray the mysteries of Christ

to achieve peace.

Assembly:

Hail o clement, hail o loving! Hail Queen of the Rosary of Fatima. Hail o clement, o loving, o sweet Virgin Mary.

Pope Francis:

Hail, our life and sweetness,

Hail, our hope,

o pilgrim Virgin, o universal Queen!

From the depths of your being,

in your immaculate heart,

you see the joys of human beings

when they journey toward the heavenly homeland.

From the depths of your being,

in your immaculate heart,

you see the sorrow of the human family

that mourns and weeps in this valley of tears.

From the depths of your being,

in your immaculate heart,

adorn us with the radiance

of all the jewels in your crown and make us pilgrims as you were a pilgrim.

With your virginal smile,

strengthen the joy of Christ’s church.

With your sweet gaze,

strengthen the hope of God’s children.

With your prayerful hands that you raise to the Lord,

unite us all into one human family.

Assembly:

Hail o clement, hail o loving! Hail Queen of the Rosary of Fatima. Hail o clement, o loving, o sweet Virgin Mary.

Pope Francis:

O clement, o loving,

o sweet Virgin Mary,

Queen of the Rosary of Fatima!

Help us follow the example of

Blessed Francisco and Blessed Jacinta,

and all those who give themselves

for the Gospel message.

Thus, we will travel all the roads,

we will be pilgrims on all paths,

we will tear down all walls

and overcome all boundaries,

going to all peripheries,

there revealing God’s justice and peace.

We will be, in the joy of the Gospel,

a church dressed in white,

in whitened robes washed in the blood of the Lamb

still pouring out in all the wars

that destroy the world in which we live.

And thus, we will be like you,

the image of the luminous pillar

that lights the paths of the world,

showing to all that God exists,

that God is here,

that God dwells in the midst of the poor

yesterday, today, and for all eternity.

Assembly:

Hail o clement, hail o loving! Hail Queen of the Rosary of Fatima. Hail o clement, o loving, o sweet Virgin Mary.

Pope Francis:

Hail, Mother of the Lord,

Virgin Mary, Queen of the Rosary of Fatima!

Blessed among all women,

you are the image of the church dressed in the Easter light,

you are the honor of our people,

you are the triumph over the mark of evil.

Prophecy of the Father’s merciful love,

teacher of the son’s Good News,

sign of the Holy Spirit’s burning fire,

teach us, in this valley of joys and sorrows,

the eternal truths

that the Father revealed to the little ones.

Show us the strength of your protective mantle.

In your immaculate heart,

be the refuge of sinners

and the path that leads to God.

United with my brothers and sisters

in faith, hope and love,

I give myself to you.

United with my brothers and sisters,

I consecrate myself to God,

O Virgin of the Rosary of Fatima.

And finally, wrapped in the light

that comes from your hands,

I will give glory to the Lord

forever and ever.

Amen.

Assembly:

Hail o clement, hail o loving! Hail Queen of the Rosary of Fatima. Hail o clement, o loving, o sweet Virgin Mary.

Prayer for the Morning (Tuesday, October 26)

Prayer for the Morning

Our God is a merciful God.

Come, let us adore him.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,

is now, and will be forever. Amen. Alleluia!

Hymn

Have mercy, Son of David!

By mercy set us free.

Have mercy, Son of David!

O Lord, that we may see.

For us, like Bartimaeus,

Cry out with heart and soul.

We ask for faith to follow,

For faith to make us whole.

Have mercy, Son of David!

Give us your eyes to see

That we may see the Kingdom

In its simplicity.

May we behold the glory,

The majesty and grace

Of your mysterious beauty

Alive in every face.

PSALM 51:3-4, 8-15

Then David said…: “I am in dire straits. But I prefer to fall into the hand of the Lord, whose mercy is very great, then into the hands of men.” (1 Chr 21:13)

The mercy of God is all-seeing. His healing power cures us of our spiritual blindness so that, forgiven, like David, we may see with his eyes of mercy.

Have mercy on me, God, in your kindness.

In your compassion blot out my offense.

O wash me more and more from my guilt

and cleanse me from my sin.

Indeed you love truth in the heart;

then in the secret of my heart teach me wisdom.

O purify me, then I shall be clean;

O wash me, I shall be whiter than snow.

Make me hear rejoicing and gladness,

that the bones you have crushed may revive.

From my sins turn away your face

and blot out all my guilt.

A pure heart create for me, O God,

put a steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from your presence,

nor deprive me of your holy spirit.

Give me again the joy of your help;

with a spirit of fervor sustain me,

that I may teach transgressors your ways

and sinners may return to you.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God (Titus 3:4-8)

When the kindness and generous love/ of God our savior appeared,/ not because of any righteous deeds we had done/ but because of his mercy,/ he saved us through the bath of rebirth/ and renewal by the holy Spirit,/ whom he richly poured out on us/ through Jesus Christ our savior,/ so that we might be justified by his grace/ and become heirs in hope of eternal life.

This saying is trustworthy.

Then will the eyes of the blind be opened,/

the ears of the deaf be cleared. (Is 35:5)

Canticle of Zechariah

Out of gloom and darkness,/ the eyes of the blind shall see. (Is 29:18)

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;

he has come to his people and set them free.

You, my child, shall be called the prophet

of the Most High;

for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,

to give his people knowledge of salvation

by the forgiveness of their sins.

In the tender compassion of our God

the dawn from on high shall break upon us,

to shine on those who dwell in darkness

and the shadow of death,

and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to the Father…

Intercessions

With confidence in the healing mercy of God, we pray:

R/Have mercy on us, God, in your kindness.

For the times when we have chosen our own will over love of you: R/

[For] the times when we have been blind to your compassion: R/

For the times when we have not shown mercy to those who are under our care: R/

(Personal intentions)

Our Father….

Father, you revealed your Son to us so that he might show us the way to everlasting life. May we have constant recourse to the Holy Name of Jesus, and in doing so grow ever closer to you. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
